field report

A field report (FR) provides you with the opportunity to analyze your days or nights out from a perspective that’s normally unavailable to you. When you go out and get rejected at the moment, your emotions can be overwhelming, and those emotions will cloud your sense of judgment, causing you to rationalize your mistakes.

The template for field reports is fairly straightforward, it can look something like this:

  • Date:
  • Summary of the night:
  • Three things I did well: 1. 2. 3.
  • Three things to improve on: 1. 2. 3.
This structure is effective because it forces you to focus on two important things, what you did well and what you need to improve on.
