Working out and dropping it will never happen because you will end up loving it, you will become confident with your body read http://www.amazon.com/Starting-Strength-3rd-Mark-Rippetoe/dp/0982522738 to get started good luck.

I've already dropped it a few years ago. And I may again. I practice kung fu and my teacher says that at one point I will realize being muscular damages my training. Thanks for the link.

We're not talking Mr. Olympia muscles, you would be amazed at how much difference a little muscle makes in your appearance and confidence.

Putting on a lot of muscle is actually pretty difficult to do. But losing weight and keeping it off, combined with putting on some muscle, can really boost your confidence. And it's not that hard to maintain. I don't even really lift much any more. Instead I do a yoga class that incorporates weights and cardio.
Edit: Also, as you get older, maintaining muscle mass should be your primary focus. It makes a world of difference in terms of daily lifestyle. I'm in my mid-forties and in as good a shape as ever, but I see friends starting to break down. They're not invalids, but they've started the long slow decline that can lead to serious problems in your sixties.

One more question : if I ever stop working out, will I loose all of my muscles? I will likely trade work out for swimming pool so I guess I will not make as much efforts as when I work out but I still will do something. If you stop to work out, do you loose everything?

I'm not a fitness so take anything I say with a grain of salt. If you put on a ton of muscle mass and stop working out, eventually you will lose it at roughly same rate you put it on. When you get in your forties you lose about 1% of muscle mass per year if you don't work out. But my understanding is that you can maintain it through body weight exercises and modest weight training.
But like I said earlier most people don't put on major amounts of muscle.
