I believe a good number of you listen to this already. It's basically the only podcast I really enjoy, and it appears to have a steadily increasing following. Bill Burr is a really funny guy who is also very level headed, which you just don't find in most comedians or other podcasters (like Joe Rogan). Although I find his standup mostly 7/10, I consider this podcast 9/10.

Anyway, in the last 30 minutes of today's podcast, Bill was answering reader emails with his wife Nia.

There was an email talking about a guy who was distressed because his girlfriend of 6 years steadily gained 60-70 pounds after starting a new, stressful job. He makes her a healthy lunch every day, cooks healthy dinners, buys her gym membership, buys her diet supplements (fucking dumbass but still), buys her a bicycle, and overall tries to communicate to her that she should lose weight due to health reasons. He searches her bank statements and finds she's been eating fast food every day after work, and sometimes even for lunch (assuming that she threw out the lunch he packed for her). He contemplates what he should do and is considering breaking up with her.

Nia goes ballistic. Talking about how he's an asshole who just wants a hot girlfriend and he's not being emotionally supportive. How the girl should dump him and get into shape and find a hotter, better man. Bill calms her down, explains how guys think and how she's being solipsistic (though not in those words), and she eventually begrudgingly apologizes. Bill asks Nia what he should do, and she basically states what the guy already tried. "Sit her down, be emotionally supportive, go for walks together." Also, Bill holds frame very well and does a great job of calming and convincing her.

But Nia's reaction is fucking unbelievable. The dude not only buys her a gym membership and a bicycle, but is actually cooking her meals. He's being a saint, and instead our society is supposed to view him as a devil for wanting his girlfriend to be hot. I would've dumped the girl 40 pounds ago. Just goes to show you that it's not about supporting, bribing, or convincing women.

Anyway, I am really not a fan of Nia. She seems cool as shit, but she displays some significant issues that commonly arise from a blend of entitlement and rampant insecurity. I see it all the time.
