The Rise Of Heterophobia

The article is very much wrong in its representation of being a gay man in America, but it does raise one valid point: straight men and boys have problems when it comes to perception of their sexuality. However, those problems existed long before gays started getting support in the media or general public.

Evidence of heterophobia can be found in the immense support network that gays can depend on. If you’re a gay boy and are teased in school, the administration will rush to action. There are web sites and toll free numbers to call if you need help. Unless you live in a rural town, you won’t have to go far to receive compassionate support.

First, those "networks" havent existed for very long, and in most areas, still dont exist. Most administrations dont give a shit, and it's only been through extensive work by gay organizations that anything has changed for the better. As little as 10 years ago, none of these things existed. Second, the fact that gays have organizations which help them isn't evidence of "heterophobia". It's evidence of specialization. I know of no national gay groups which have the position that straight men should be vilified. This accusation in the same bullshit that feminists fling every time MRAs talk about mens shelters. The existence of a mens shelter isn't misogyny.

But how about if you’re a teenage boy who wants to have sex? Tough luck, you privileged freak. You will be brainwashed that consensual sex is possibly rape and flirting is sexual harrasment. They are telling boys now that you can’t touch a girl without her “permission.” The only support you got are guys like me, who are being put on hate lists.

Yes, I agree. Men and boy have problems concerning the vilification of their sexuality, especially when it comes to rape hysteria. And that vilification has been going on and increasing for decades, long before homosexuality even had a glimmer of tolerance. The gays didn't create the problem, so stop blaming it on them.

No, they don't. Having grown up gay, they really really dont.

The culture is being successfully changed so that deviant homosexual behavior is accepted and embraced.

And it should. But no part of that means heterosexuality needs to be demonized.
