I think the biggest obstacle that a lot of people (especially newbies) have is ego - in particular, a sense of their own achievement.

A lot of people who are drawn to TRP are people have some problem, some sense that something isn't working right in their life for which they seek a solution. And I think it's in our nature to want to reach that moment when we can say, "A-hah! I've done it! I've finally gotten it right!" Then we can feel better about ourselves.

But that moment is so frequently very far off. We want to think we're almost there. But the reality is much more likely that we're way, way off.

In this way one of the most useful qualities I think a person can have is patience, and honesty with yourself. You must be willing to admit to yourself your bad qualities, you failures, your shortcomings. You must do this because if you can't recognize them, you can't fix them. You can't make the transition into the man that you really want to be, unless you can acknowledge the ways in which you are fucking up.

And it doesn't feel good. We never enjoy looking at ourselves in the mirror and disliking what we see looking back at us. We don't enjoy it but it is absolutely necessary. Without this discomfort we cannot grow.

So don't hope to be perfect quickly. Become absorbed into the process and be honest about the things you need to improve, and don't lie to yourself about the shit you're doing wrong. Be patient, don't be afraid of work, and always go back to the basics and be willing to question yourself and ask if you've got it right yet, or if you still need a change in order to improve.

That said, I want to thank the OP for his contribution to this subreddit and for his blog. /u/IllimitableMan, You are an amazing writer and a lot of the things you've written give such a clear, easily understandable, and very useful perspective that it has helped a lot of people (including myself) along our path. Every discussion you enter, you manage to condense any topic into something meaningful, useful, and readily accessible for any reader. So I just want to say thanks for the time that you spend here, for the effort that you put into constructing quality posts and comments. It does us good, and I hope you will stick around and continue to contribute. I always look forward to reading your posts, wherever they appear.

Nice break down without the anger stage bile. I noticed you didn't display the need to shock jock but were still able to speak directly and not dilute the concept you were relaying. This is what I mean when I speak about effective use of language as a tool.

/u/IllimitableMan, what in your opinion was the single most defining event that led to the ultimate dominance of feminism as a norm in Western society? I read up on the Misandry Bubble and tried to make heads or tails of the economic influences, social justifications, etc but there has got to be some specific law or event that was the foothold for the climb of feminism right?
