I find it offensive because it stereotypes women as having long hair (like in the icon) and culturally oppressive because it reinforces traditional roles by using the color pink. Aren't women with short hair, or even bald women, attractive? Why is blue such a male domain? I demand a bald icon and the color blue. I will start a petition to this effect. It is unjust in our day and age to reinforce such patriarchal generalizations for the sake of private enterprise. Women of the world, unite! Everyone is beautiful! Down with capitalist pigs!

I love this idea, my conditions are:

Budget and timescale must be industry standard.

No preferential treatment of any kind can be given to the workers.

Only female construction workers, plant operators, managers, technicians, consultants, recruiters, basically anyone who has ANYTHING remotely to do with the project must be female, and no transgenders either, I consider that cheating.

The project must come in under budget, under time or men take over, deal is off.

All pay must be industry average.

All women must have been a resident of the country in question for 5 years and educated there.

If the deaths per 1000 exceeds the industry average in that country by more than 20%, deal is off, men take over.

Any training required to fill any skills gap or shortages of staff must be paid for from the budget, no government help.

If they break any of these conditions, men take over and build a men only motorway.

Any other conditions guys?

Wouldn't fly in the UK. The EU ruled against insurers basing insurance premiums on gender. It used to be companies offering female only insurance could charge lower premiums, but the EU said fuck that and legislated for equality.

You DO realize that this is a publicity stunt, right? A lot of companies with limited budgets for advertising do this. They press release something completely insane and offensive, and then reap plenty of free advertising from lazy newspapers looking to fill pages/get clicks.

I'd ask how many more men are drivers vs women. I'd also ask how many more miles men drive vs women in general. Both of which can account for the larger number of men involved in accidents.

Also I'd be interested in the severity of crashes data. I'm willing to admit men might get in more fender benders. Likewise, I'd be interested in data involving male-female crashes as to who is found to be at fault (I'm willing to bet odds are more women are at fault)

IIRC, women get in a larger number of less-severe accidents. Men may drive more aggressively but generally have better spatial awareness and reaction time.

The women's lanes would be riddled with fender-benders and hesitation. The scary, dangerous "everyone else" lanes would flow smoothly and efficiently with the exception of a few suicidal street racers.

This has been demonstrated time and time again in various studies. Per capita, women have A LOT more wrecks than males do. The only reason why males have more overall wrecks is because we drive a shit ton more than females.
