This is something that's been on my mind for a few weeks - how women will fall into this trap thinking they are encouraging and being supportive but in reality, they are being naggy.
So feel free to throw out some examples when you have been caught in this trap - or seen a friend caught in this trap - and how you adjusted your mind set.

Cheerleaders don’t join the huddle. Cheerleaders don’t tell the players what plays to run. They don’t correct. Cheerleaders just cheer. Even when the team is down they just cheer.
THAT IS AWESOME!
I am a natural cheerleader too. I do it everywhere and not just with my family.
I think of character traits in this way:
Anything I do that has the potential for good has the same potential to do harm. I refer to it as upside down character. When I am healthy and balanced and satisfied with self I am a nurturer. When I am out of wack and unsettled inside I am a controlling authoritative mother figure.
Guess which one doesn't inspire boners. :)

I am no cheerleader, but I give constructive advise if he is open to it. Otherwise I am there for him.
