This is a great idea for a post. :)

He can't encounter anything without trying to fix it - even when we're at the store or something, he'll jump in and try to diagnose the problem. It's the engineer in him, but he can't help it. He's good at it though!

He's also a ridiculously devout Chicago Cubs fan, while I am a born-and-raised St. Louis Cardinals fan. Though this is what our relationship started on, I'd be lying if I said this series hadn't been a rollercoaster, hahaha.

Edit: I just thought of another weird quirk he has - all the men in his family have it, actually. They all have this innate desire to control water - like, if there's a creek, they need to change the flow of it or dam it up. Sometimes he just goes and messes with the water heater at home for no reason - I once asked what he was doing and he said "Just Lastname things" because it's just a running theme in his family that they must control the water.

my guy has "befriended" a huge, wild bird in his neighbourhood.

this bird comes round to his house every morning and taps on the window until he lets him inside.

he eats seeds out of our hands and will hop onto SO's shoulder while he's working at his computer. he's been visiting SO for 5+ years now, has been named, and SO fears moving house in case the bird misses him.

When I am watching a movie with my girlfriend she always pauses it if she sees an obscure actor or actress, then proceeds to tell me their biography.

My husband's feet are SUPER ticklish. He is rarely barefoot and it drives him crazy when I try to take his socks off. I almost never actually do it, but just pretending like I'm going to take them off makes him start squirming and laughing and usually sets off a round of play wrestling.

He also hides behind corners with our cat and holds the cat out so I can only see his head. He'll voice the cat and have a conversation with me. Our cat doesn't always love it, but I do!

My hubby is generally hilarious and goofy, but these are a few regular occurrences that make me smile.

My husband is addicted to masonry; I swear his goal is to eventually pave or build walls on our entire yard. He has been doing this since a neighbor helped him with a project in the early 90s, and he has paved/built patios and walls on two other houses before this one. Right now he is in the middle of a huge patio in the back yard, which he plans to build a tall wall on the South side with and outdoor fireplace, and then a short wall around the rest of it and put a pergola on top to shade it a little. It will be awesome when he is through.

On our current house, he made large front and back porches from masonry, and since then, over the years, has roofed both and had windows installed to box them in, adding over 600 square feet to our house, and making nice, sunny, all weather living spaces with little wood stoves installed for warmth in the winter. I plan on filling the back porch with large plants to give it more of a tropical look and feel :)

He has the absolute cutest dimple when he really smiles or laughs
He eats his hotdogs plain with only mustard, this kills me

His main quirk was something that annoyed the hell out of me when we first got married, but now I greatly appreciate it.

He. Never. Gets. Angry. Or argues.

I'm not saying he doesn't get mad, of course he does. But he always holds it in, remains very calm, and refuses to argue with me. He's like Spock but willing to share his loving side. "Anger is not logical". He has amazing self control. I now love it because it's made me such a calmer person. I came from a household where me and my mom would always argue and try to prove our points. Terrible, I know, but we loved a good argument. Especially when one of us was on super PMS mode.

When we got married, he refused to indulge me. Getting quiet, shaking his head at me and sometimes leaving the room. It eventually caused me to just stop altogether. I mean, we do get into debates sometimes, but never in anger, and alot more rational then I used to do.

This and he loves to poke my belly button at the most random times because he know it weirds me out and I'm super ticklish -_-

He begins to tell an anecdote, gets lost on a detail and ends up talking for half an hour. I usually have to remind him what his departure point was/why he is telling me this
He often sneezes when I come too close. We have no explanation for that
In bed, I cannot lie close to him until after a few minutes because he's still overthinking his day. He says my presence distracts him :P So I usually have to wait a little while before snuggling

What an awesome thread!

My husband is obsessed with math. He will watch videos about math, finds some numbers series and sequences beautiful (prime numbers, Fibonacci sequence, etc) and usually takes 45 minutes in the shower and then burst out saying "I FOUND OUT HOW TO RESOLVE [insert math problem] !!!"
It irks him if the volume of the radio is not set at a multiple of 5. So if it's at 22, he will put it at either 20 or 25.
He does dad-level puns and looks at me with a sh*t-eating grin, awaiting my reaction.
He's extremely good at solving Rubik's cubes. When he plays video games and his character dies and he has to wait for the rest of the team to either finish the fight or die too, he takes his Rubik's cube and solves it a couple of times.

My guy laughs with his whole upper body - it's so fun to see. Like his shoulders will be going up and down the whole time. He laughs more with his body than with sound. :)

The other day he went from torturing the dogs with the hose by chasing them around with it, to changing the position of our trash can so that lizards don't get hurt when he moves it. He has this interesting juxtaposition of carefree teasing and caring protectiveness.

He has this dance that comes out at gatherings, anytime anyone is dancing. Very distinctive, his friends go "D's doing the dance." I jump in with him and its fun. Then we get thank you cards (if at a wedding) referring to the dance.

has a great sense of humor and isn't afraid to poke fun at himself.
can fix pretty much anything that has an engine or a motor or parts. He is self taught and also his dad taught him things. He'll just experiment with something and pretty much always figures it out.
very calm, laid back person. In the beginning of my rpw journey I took that as him not being a leader but that is just how he leads.
he is the king of amused mastery without even knowing what that is. It's just his natural sense of humor but since I've discovered it in him I naturally just know when he's doing it and then I'll realize I'm being a pain or shit testing him and stop. So it's a great dynamic to have figured out.

He loves dragons
His eyes are hazel, they change between brown and green
He likes taking pictures of me when I'm sleeping.. and giving me a snapchat filter that he sends to his little sister for amusement >.<
His physical learning style is mimic - once he watches something being done he can pretty much replicate it exactly
He's very DIY and fix-y. He is remodeling his house, can replace car brakes, and fix the zipper on my pants.

Mine is a wordsmith. To some, he is pretentious, but I know how giddy he feels when he gets to use an obscure word in the perfect context. :) He is always looking up some words etymology on his phone.

Also, my vocabulary has gotten sooo much better since we've been together. A definite plus!

-Whenever something is not doing exactly what he wants it to, he spends a while going round declaring it "needs a beating". In the last 24h, the rape/canola crop needs a beating, the cat needs a beating, the weather needs a beating, the dog needs a beating, I need a beating and his brother needs a beating.

-His commitment modes are 0% or 100%. If he's not committed to something, be it an idea, a plan or whatever, he will drop it for anything. If he is, he will not let go until his mission is complete and sometimes needs bringing back to reality. Generally reality itself drags him back, though.

-His hands can handle ridiculous temperatures so he can build the biggest fires, bonfires and bbqs imaginable. Will gladly stick his hands right into one. He has had festival security called on him because his controlled cooking fire looked like a tent was going up.

-He can't give advice or offer help seriously. It has to be with flair, or a gimmick, or just constantly poking fun. Nobody gets a quiet helping hand from him. We recently helped my step mother with an issue and once help had been provided and advice offered he left her a picture of himself scowling, to remind her to do the right thing in the future. His actions = great job. His demeanour = mean and joking.

-Similarly, he can't take himself seriously or try and broadcast himself, even when he genuinely is doing something important that others might use to elevate their social status. Any time he starts assuming a role of respect or authority he turns himself back into Loki the jokester. He hates being serious and refuses to set that expectation. Again, the job is done and done well, but never "nicely".

When he's in the gym and gets into the zone he turns into this angry person who looks scary and bangs weights and stuff. He swears at me sometimes (not in a mean way at all, as if I were one of his boys or something, it's his way of trying to encourage me for my heavier lifts lol).

Then at home he also uses lots of pet names. I think his favourite is baby girl. Normally I'd probably find that weird but I love it when he says it.

He will often buy more food then he wants then save some for later as "another meal". Meanwhile 2-3 hours later I'm hungry anyway so we have to go find or make something lol
