And, yeah . . . it's a dumb dichotomy. I could take things like the Zodiac more seriously if they could be bothered to be internally consistent. If the stars influence our lives, fuck it, sure. Gravitons or something pulling at your heartstrings, I guess. But could you at least make the requisite adjustment to account for the fact the goddamned stars have moved?

Or say "oh I heard (your zodiac) aren't a good match with (her zodiac). We'd always be fighting and having angry sex"

Use it to disqualify and tease her. Dont treat it seriously or try to make a supernatural match.

I had a 24 year old girl tell me if you look at the clock at 11:11 it means you'll get good luck, and if you look at a clock at 12:34 it means some progress moving you forward will happen in your day.

I actually think they find utility in discussing personalities and archetypes etc

Sort of like how some ancient civilisations had pagan gods, they didn't necessarily believe in their actuality but more so as just personifications of observable traits of Man. I think it is always a bit naive to look at mysticism and think people are stupid. They might be smarter than you think and some of those systems are actually quite a nice way to discuss complex problems of the human species. It doesn't have to compete with science, they can be complimentary.
