This one will be fun to watch.

The below commentary from feminist Cordelia Fine strikes a chord:

His summary of the differences between the sexes, she says, was “more accurate and nuanced than what you sometimes find in the popular literature”. Some of Damore’s ideas, she adds, are “very familiar to me as part of my day-to-day research, and are not seen as especially controversial. So there was something quite extraordinary about someone losing their job for putting forward a view that is part of the scientific debate. And then to be so publicly shamed as well. I felt pretty sorry for him.”

Great quote.

Acknowledging sex differences is empirical, not normative.... and I agree, he was relatively nuanced and careful.

Great feminist. These words were very hard to write.

There was one other....what the fuck was her name, Sontag? Don't quote me on that part or the entirety of her work, but paraphrasing, she once said "Yeah, men are terrible until there is a natural disaster....then what are you going to do without them?"

40 upvotesSparrow89072 years ago

Christina Hoff Summers is pretty cool, and Camille Paglia is downright amazing IMO, but some people are put off by her frenetic speaking style.

21 upvotesparanoidinfidel2 years ago

Yeah, men are terrible until there is a natural disaster....then what are you going to do without them

Maybe tomorrow...

13 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

Yes, but his rhetoric was all wrong for someone trying to convince people, although I admit he wrote it innocently and without the prior knowledge that he would have to convince anyone...

10 upvoteskick62 years ago

It wasn’t rhetoric, though. He literally cited scientific consensus. Guys like that don’t think they need rhetoric because they have the truth on their side.

3 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

Oh I just mean it in the classical sense

“the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the exploitation of figures of speech and other compositional techniques”

Rather than the more common usage

“language designed to have a persuasive or impressive effect, but which is often regarded as lacking in sincerity or meaningful content.”

6 upvoteskick62 years ago

In the classic sense, he used dialectic, not rhetoric.

0 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

Depends how you want to view it, personally I’m referring (at least in my head) to the word choice, so for example saying “women are more open” rather than “women are more neurotic”, exploiting the fact that someone would prefer to have themselves described positively could be considered rhetoric.

He had 5 different traits to choose from that he could have used to illustrate his point, if he had chosen the ones which are views more positively by society he would have stood a better chance, although I’m not sure by how much...

6 upvotesdestraht2 years ago

Its incredibly difficult to both learn how the world works in a way that gives you a competitive advantage over other people by applying a superior world view while also knowing the fleeting and whimsical limitations of the common people. It seems that to master both is a very particular skill set that is so particular that it could be called a career.

As an example, the other day I was speaking to my boob mom and I said that word "culture" and she was offended by it and she told me that I need to use another word. I asked her which word and she replied "I don't know, maybe 'way of life'". I said "isn't that the same thing?". So then when I got home I looked up the word "culture" and one of the definitions was "way of life". My point is that it is so fucking hard to just know which triggers have been programmed into the lay people and its quite arbitrary and pointless in itself. If I was speaking to a large group of trigger laden people then I would need to know about five hundred limitations in my audience, concepts which they simple cannot handle and words which they cannot hear and to instead use a synonym or an inarticulate paragraph to describe the same thing. I'd have to ask myself if its really worth it and if I actually care what the lay boobs think.

1 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

Aye, agreed, which is why I’m trying to have a decent understanding of most of these things, but also to learn how to articulate myself to different audiences. As You said though, kinda hard to account of idiocy...

10 upvotesanonlymouse2 years ago

Yes, but his rhetoric was all wrong for someone trying to convince people

There is no rhetoric to convince the people who wouldn't be convinced. He didn't do anything in his presentation, and nobody should be getting the idea that we just have to present the ideas differently.

2 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

How do you know this? I’ve convinced many people that James was right. Even ardent feminists. But that’s down to the power of asking questions to these people “why do you oppose me?” There is a small minority of people who won’t be convinced, but they don’t matter, if you can market yourself to the masses and make it sound positive, you can usually convince people.

If you start off with the positives you can drag in the negative side later and they’ll be more likely to accept it.

Hitler managed to convince most of Germany killing the Jews was a great idea, you don’t think he had great rhetorical skill to do that? Or were the German population already poised to kill them but all they needed was one word and they would do it?

10 upvotesanonlymouse2 years ago

Or were the German population already poised to kill them but all they needed was one word and they would do it?

This. Anti-semitism has been a thing for a long time. I mean read the old testament, even according to themselves they were huge dicks.

1 upvotesDickZinnendorf2 years ago

The question is why was antisemitism so popular. Was it because Hitler made it popular? Or was it because Weimar Republic Germany had been bankrupted?

5 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

Antisemitism was rife yes, but there’s a huge difference between the dislike of the Jews and the increase of violence toward them and the eventual slaughter that took place under Hitler. I’d wager without him they would simply have continued to have been “a bit annoyed” with the Jews rather than actively murdering them.

So I guess my point comes back, given that the average German is likely a good representative of your average American in terms of his ability to be influenced, surely you could convince a feminist that maybe they haven’t got absolutely everything right in their theory.

The issue is that it also requires a lot of knowledge of their philosophies and circulating rhetoric. I mean you can easily prove to them via their own logic that calling all white people racist inherently is racist, if you can get them to agree to redefine what they believe racist means.

30 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

More specifically, he was writing for a Red Pilled (for lack of a better term) crowd. This was not written for general audiences.

I like that part.

16 upvotesGaddness2 years ago

Agreed, it’s part of the reason though that I think people should learn rhetoric, just a couple of tweaks would have made it more compatible for both audiences. Like if he hadn’t use the word neurotic and used openness instead (as women are more open usually) he would have stood a better chance (I wrote longer post than this on it though)

32 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

Agreed wholeheartedly.

I'm an immense fan of Jordan Peterson these days. His language is superior in the general public than ours, although less succinct.

I have a plate who just got a PhD in social work, on the bleeding edge of postmodernism, who is taking a break from Peterson....because her mind is so fucking blown right now.

And personally, I'm a life long atheist and Peterson's lectures on the Bible are amazing. I've not moved a single step (the Bible is wrong in line 2) but the insights into human nature are not to be ignored.

I'm reminded of the movie Mad Max: Fury Road

Some people say it is feminist because of all the women

Others say it is meninist because the women need the help of a man, Max, to win

I say it is realist, because in real life, you need both men and women working together to create something

You should watch this youtube interview review of Cordelia Fine's BS book by Red Ice. Her only contribution to understanding gender differences is the beating of straw men. However, she is fairer than most leftists. Not a high bar to jump though.

This one will be fun to watch.

Eh, not really. The lawsuit will go nowhere. "White male conservative" isn't a protected class so you can fire them at will. Also, it's hard to see how firing him over this memo is really discrimination against men. It's more like discrimination against circulating memos about gender.

Right wingers shouldn't want Damore to win. You should be able to fire people for circulating memos that contradict your company culture/image, even if they are true. I would like the ability to fire a radical feminist for circulating radical feminist memos, even if they are true.

34 upvotesStationary_Wagon2 years ago

He has good chances to win. You can read the class action lawsuit submission here: https://we.tl/bTYzhRqXym

While social media and feminazis might paint you a different picture, no one can discriminate to any race at work. Reading the pdf, I can see examples for discrimination, threats, hostile work environment etc. I think he has a strong case.

31 upvotessaint_pill2 years ago

Race is a protected class in the United States. That includes the white race. (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964)

Gender is a protected class in the United States, including the male gender. (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964)

California law makes it illegal to discriminate against people for their political affiliation.

10 upvoteswisty2 years ago

"White male conservative" isn't a protected class so you can fire them at will.

California protects political views, so yes it is.

And "at will" doesn't mean you can fire someone for any reason, it means you can fire them for no reason. The court simply has to be convinced that it was his political views that led to his firing. IIRC there were public statements to the tune of "We think his views might offend female co-workers" which makes it pretty clear that its his political opinions (protected) and the fact that he made them known that are being targeted.

9 upvotesAtavisionary2 years ago

Ideally, there should be complete freedom of association in work and everywhere else. However, leftists made these rules and I suppose it is only appropriate to force them to adhere to them when they don't want to. It should be fun to see what happens.

320 upvotesCopperFox3c2 years ago

The full lawsuit can be read here: https://www.scribd.com/document/368692388/James-Damore-Lawsuit

Interesting to skim thru. In it you will see excerpts and screenshots from internal Google communications as well as official HR policies from their employee handbooks and what not. Some of it is downright shocking. For instance, Google gave employees monetary bonuses for publicly disagreeing with and disparaging Damore. HR also defended employees posting blatant anti-white anti-male messages on internal forum boards. Curious times we live in ...

I thought the same thing when it came to a bunch of the referenced material, though some of it seemed vague and potentially inadmissible. I think there is a ton of information there that should hold up and he should win, but it really depends on how effectively the defense can call for some of the material to be thrown out based on relevance and inference.

I will probably follow the story as I'm interested to see what sticks.

12 upvotessamenrofringslikeLBJ2 years ago

It is great that he partnered up with Prager University to bring publicity to this case, as Prager University has also been attacked by Google for not being communists. It is going to be so fun to see all these left-wing loonies try to come out in court and pretend that they think it is OK to male or white, I wonder how many people will actually double down and blame the lawsuit on the patriarchy.

1 upvotesRamsay19902 years ago

Not surprising. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are both filthy heebs.

33 upvotes0xdada2 years ago

There are two options for people who are anti-semites:

  1. you are a shill for some globalist group that that creates fake nazi posts to discredit and isolate dangerous ideas.

  2. you are such a fag that you blame your failure on a group of people who are on average, more neurotic, physically weaker, and are the persecuted whipping boys of history.

I don't care about identarians, separatists, or even racists, but someone who defames the people around them and causes them to become targets for others, that is when you cease to be a man and become just another fucking liability. If I wanted to read posts by liabilities, I'd read a womens forum.

So you are saying that we can't criticize the jews? I personally see a lot of jews behind feminism, multiculturalism and Marxism. These movements are absolutely led by the jews. Are we supposed to ignore this fact?

2 upvotes0xdada2 years ago

I guarantee you, whatever disadvantage you think you have, it is less likely to caused by The Jews, than it being the overall effect of the quality of reasoning that leads people to that conclusion in the first place.

Focus on solvable problems and try not to bring shame to people who accept you.

18 upvotesmindlar2 years ago

It's been about a year and a half since I worked there. It is just as hostile as it sounds and I can only imagine that it has ramped up post-Trump. It really is coming from the top down.

Comments that I remember hearing from high level execs (head of HR, founders, etc.) in front of the entire company were things like:

We love Austin but would never start an engineering office there because it's surrounded by Texas.

Make life miserable for people that don't agree with LGBT so that they quit. (This one was walked back by the same exec a week later).

15 upvotesnicethingyoucanthave2 years ago

Comments that I remember hearing

Consider contacting the law firm handling the suit and offering to go on-record. Every little bit helps. All that you really need to give them are dates so that they can look for specific things during discovery. If you can nail down the exact date that exec said that, then the lawyers can demand all the complaints submitted to HR around that date, or all the emails sent to that exec around that date.

This is tertiary, but as a general warning for the future to all of you: you'll probably want to reduce your dependence on Google and other services like it in general, regardless of this incident and how it plays out. Google is more powerful than Facebook, having your search history and in many cases email all while FB merely has likes along with chats. Make sure you opt of of any history google keeps but be aware that these optouts are based on a honor system you can't verify (corporations have no honor) and know all their connected services like Youtube, Drive, gmail, etcetera.

Google is vastly more powerful than the FBI ever was and don't think for a second it will never be abused, if not already.

The point isn't to shift all of that over to another, equally corruptible solution or provider, but to spread out so no one source will ever have all your data on their database and to reduce your digital footprint accordingly. What isn't controversial today may become so tomorrow.

There are general guidelines, such as to provide fake personal information to the service at every opportunity, to not search what you don't need to search for (ie searching an oft-visited page for access instead of memorizing or bookmarking it), searching your name from your most used computer instead of some console somewhere -- which can be used later to track the rest of your search history, etcetera.

There are gonna be a lot of tech solutions on how to browse online anonymously, but tech only goes so far and depends on no slip-ups which is hard to maintain, usually the best solution is nontechnical: put as little info you want the public to know out there to begin with and remember merely typing into a search box is putting stuff out there, if not typing into your own computer or phone. Such are the times we live in.

16 upvotesTheDevilsAdvokaat2 years ago

All of those have been wet dreams come true for intelligence services and are in fact integrated with them now.

As you say, unless you stop using connected computers completely then rest assured you are being tracked and watched. The same even goes for your phone and phone messages.

The best way to avoid future problems is...not to do anything you shouldn't online. Ever.

11 upvotes666Evo2 years ago

don't think for a second it will never be abused, if not already.

They already lock Google Drive files that "breach terms of service".

8 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

FB merely has likes along with chats

Don't underestimate Facebook. They sit on piles of user data similar to Google. Even if you never use its Services (Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram ...), they can still track your activity across almost all websites thanks to Facebook Pixel and other Analytics.

Otherwise, valid points

1 upvotesMrInternetDetective2 years ago

Is there anyway to block those sort of analytical trackers?

3 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

There are Chrome/Firefox plugins, such as Ghostery, Disconnect, and PrivacyBadger (I highly recommend the latter two), that can block trackers (and in the process, decrease loading times).

If you don't mind a browser switch, I'd recommend the Brave browser, which has all that built in.

Plugins such as NoScript go even further, but are barely practical as they break some websites.

1 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

read this as "cats" which is also true

1 upvotesbeginner_2 years ago

Make sure you opt of of any history google keeps but be aware that these optouts are based on a honor system you can't verify (corporations have no honor) and know all their connected services like Youtube, Drive, gmail, etcetera.

For Google see their own help site how to remove history and stop tracking it.

Still it's questionable you want to trust them on this. So start using duckduckgo. Because we can bet that Google is and will start to filter unwanted content, like TRP.

Also disable location tracking on your phone. And maybe it might even be a good idea to switch between android and apple for every other phone so no party has the full picture.

I imagine Google will settle this out of court. The inferno it would fuel if they stuck to their guns would be quite a spectacle.

83 upvotesredpillschool [OP]2 years ago

He doesn't have much to lose, but he has a lot to gain if he decides not to settle.

Though I'm not sure what the rules are in a class action suit.

58 upvotesBallsMahonie2 years ago

Honestly, I'd love to see this play out all the way to the end. I think if it gets far enough through the court system, it could set a real precedence for companies in the future. Assuming any sort of judgment or ruling is fair.

27 upvotesreckful9942 years ago

I practice in that Court. I really think his first big mistake was hiring an SF attorney- they "hometown" out of town attorneys so hard its ridiculous. Unfortunately, as all the actions in question occurred in Santa Clara County, hard to imagine getting jurisdiction or venue anywhere else.

If you want to follow the case, you can access the docket online.

11 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

Does it really matter?

I'm mostly looking for a social awareness of Damore being essentially right.

30 upvotesreckful9942 years ago

It really matters. I've only worked 4 cases down there as I generally practice in SF and Alameda.

Even though I've prevailed, the judiciary and clerks at the filing window have been nothing short of hostile. I've had to send messengers to court several times because papers I intended to file were improperly rejected. The judges only ruled for me because I came strictly within the statute and existing case law- I wouldn't dare bring something like this in that County.

Finally, if not most importantly (and I know this will be hard to believe), that Court is BROKE. Hearings are scheduled months out due to a backlog- the clerks office closes at 12 on Fridays because they can't afford to keep it open all day.

God I could go on. Point is that it does matter. Cases are won and lost in questions of jurisdiction and venue.

This sounds like a strategic blunder, but I guess he couldn't have filed elsewhere.

2 upvoteswanderer7792 years ago

Liberal outlets either won't report it or will distort it so the left never realizes what's going on. I've seen this before, I know people on the left and they don't even know what the real story is half the time. And a lot of them are so indoctrinated that even if they did know they'd side with google.

This was my first question: what are the statues and trends in prior “white male” cases, if any?

1 upvoteswanderer7792 years ago

Not sure about statues but the renaissance painters made some pretty good religious paintings in which they depicted God as the white male that, deep down, even the most fanatical SJWs know he is.

3 upvotesMaunoBrau2 years ago

The classes are (a) anyone with a conservative viewpoint employed by Google in the last 4 years, (b) any male employed in the last year, (c) any Caucasian employed by Google in the last year.

I have been a plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against a former employer for owing wages. (The owners immediately opened another company doing the same business).

From this experience, I will tell you how the rules of a class action lawsuit play out. Once the case is settled in favor of the plaintiff, each member of the class can, at that point, decide to opt-in or opt-out (the judge will decide which is default). If you decide to opt-in, then you will take your share of the settlement and you waive further action against Google for this issue. If you decide to opt-out, then you are free to litigate the issue for yourself specifically, and you can use the results of this lawsuit as a precedent.

So, if a judge certifies the one or more of these classes, then Google is in a precarious position. If they wish to settle, then they will need to offer a settlement large enough that all white people, all males, and all conservatives will opt-in. If they offer too little in the settlement, then there is less to go around and the individual incentive for each person to get their own lawyer goes up.

Note that the class includes people a large number of people that are currently employed. If Google has any other bad PR from firing someone in the meantime, this will only strengthen this case, so I predict a "chilling effect" of sorts inside Google, and this is a good thing.

He's probably paying for it himself. The average software engineer at Google makes $130,000/year. According to the lawsuit, he received 20% of that 8 different times as pay bonuses, and received bonuses in stock worth $150,000 a year. That's before being promoted to Senior Software Engineer which makes roughly $160,000/year.

41 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

Wow, from what I read here: https://i.imgur.com/61aluxY.png

and in the full lawsuit: https://pl.scribd.com/document/368692388/James-Damore-Lawsuit

They basically mobbed James Damore with the result of firing him and it was under the guidance of some formal committe.

This is an article about "The 5 stages of workplace mobbing":

Stage 3: The Critical Incident

Stage 1: Social Exclusion

Stage 2: Harassment and Stigmatization

Stage 4: Adjudication

Stage 5: Elimination

In his case the stage 3 "critical incident" was the reason for his mobbing.

As someone who was mobbed at work a few years ago I have to say that at some point you become physically sick when coming to work and it stays with you for years to some degree like ptsd.

This company is fucking nasty for white men, wouldn't want to work there for any kind of money and perks.

I am sure that there are more men like him, since they did it so blatantly. I hope to see them losing this lawsuit and getting what they deserve.

Well I have just went through some of the lawsuit and on page 14 there is a picture which could be interpreted only as a "shitlib face": https://heartiste.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/the-shitlib-face/ white-knighting for women at google, with 16 likes...

I think that this happened because the document was leaked to a more-open group in google where there were a bunch of oversensitive women and thirsty cucks, creating a cuckball effect of mobbing.

I just read some more and boy are there some anti white / cis / blabla/ male serving white nights out there... Openly threatening and concern-trolling themselves and other white men.

Their message boards look like high-school facebook posts. Ridiculous.

I am happy that James Damore fired back, it's the right man in the right place and time if there ever was one in this PC madness.

I wonder what their arguments will be in court, "But but but... Aids skrillex and Carl the cuck told us that a fucking white male can't be discriminated against!!!1".

Others are saying he was stupid to bring this fight, "think what you like, but behave as others." 99 times out of 100 this is true. But bending over and getting fucked in the ass is not a viable long term solution. At some point you have to face the enemy head on.

In this case it seems he performed his due diligence and collected vast amounts of evidence before mounting his attack. Brilliant. Brave. Bold. He may turn out to be an Assange lite.

What I find disgusting is how blatant their racism is a Google. Like the common liberal their stupidity is only exceeded by their self righteousness. I don't know how he tolerated that toxic environment for more than a month.

The racism is so blatant that they freely send memos discussing how to exclude "cheesy white males" and act as if it's some noble act. Another fuckwad blue pill white knight faggot Alex Hidalgo sent him an email telling him to "fuck off". I'm sure Google reprimanded all involved. These people are absolutely disgusting.

Stolen from another redditor here are some highlights:

"There are certain alternative views, including different political views, which I do not want people to share here. My tolerance ends at my friends' terror. You can believe that women or minorities are unqualified all your like--I can't stop you--but if you say it out loud, then you deserve what's coming to you. Yes, this is 'silencing.' I intend to silence these views; they are violently offensive... I'm fine with conservatives, butt hey must actually have human souls."

"Will the author ever be promoted again? If the author is promoted, we send a clear signal their their work output--the work output of a single engineer--is worth more than the irreparable harm their document has caused to 1000s of Googlers. If the author is promoted, we grant him more power and influence to harm Googlers that don't fit his bigoted worldview...There is no reason for the author to remain here and only damage can come of it."

"God, please let our inevitable public statement be less toothless than that internal mail. We need to say 'Wow, that was some bullshit right there. We've fired that guy into the sun and updated our code of conduct to say not to do anything that looks even a bit like that, ever. Also, we're looking at how we can change our interview process to notice toxic opinions like that, because seriously, wtf, where did that come from?"

"So, let me be straight. These are shitty opinions. I say this with all my hats on; ally, director, manager, human. They are the antithesis of what we're trying to do at Google; they are intellectually lazy, biased, and unkind. They have no place here...Leave it at home. IF you're not prepared to live it at home, then leave yourself there."

"Google HR--don't be mean to actual Nazis they are valued coworkers. Me:: They're Nazis. No. I will absolutely go out of my way to make sure I never work near anyone involved with or who endorsed that garbage. Because Nazis. And you should absolutely punch Nazis."

"From now on, I'm going to devote at least the fired third of my 45 minute interview time to a discussion of experience with diversity. If the first fifteen minutes doesn't satisfy me, I'll continue the discussion. If need be, it will take the entire forty-five minutes. I would encourage others to do the same."

"While Google appears to be doing very little to quell the hostile voices that exist inside the company, I want those hostile voices to know: I will never, ever hire/transfer you onto my team. Ever. I don't care if you are a perfect fit, or technically excellent or whatever. I will not actively work with you, even to the point where your team or product is impacted by this decision. I'll communicate why to your manager if it comes up. You're being blacklisted by people at companies outside of Google. You might not have been aware of this, but people know, people talk. There are always social consequences."

"One of the great things about Google's internal communication mechanisms (G+, mailing lists, etc), is that, as a manager, I can easily go find out if I really want to work with you... I keep a written blacklist of people whom I will never allow on or near my team, based on how they view and treat their coworkers. That blacklist got a little longer today."

But I find myself completely alienated by other "liberal" people because I support real equality and not feminism. I'm also not right wing. I think right wing politics are absurd and that a good economy should be somewhere left of centre. But again, completely alienated. I still call myself lefty. It bothers them more that you claim they are not the real left, just a spawn of post modernism, than anything else. And I love to disturb their smug beings.

There was a video of a white male leftist discussing with a bunch of SJW in a panel. The leftists came from a very modest family, had no college degree, was dressed simple, had lost a lot if hair already in his 30's... you get the idea. The SJW were in their 20's, college kids and all very dress up with an edgy touch. He rip them apart.

At one point he explained how a feminist who wrote for The Guardian was offended by an speech he made and wrote an article criticising and accusing him of abusing his privilege over her. He explained it turns out she was the daughter of a supermarket chain owner he worked for as a young man. So, he laid out, the daughter of a very rich man, who was riding ponies while he was working minimum wage at one of his father supermarkets, was the one without privilege and oppressed by him. He then pointed out how absurd and anti-left that whole way if thinking was.

The faces of the SJW were delicious. It looked like they just wanted to banish and be somewhere else.

I think it's sort of like how outliers can mess up an arithmetic mean.

Bill Gates + 100 random people makes the room's average net worth millions.

The most extreme left is moving further left faster than the most extreme right are moving right, which creates the sensation of the distribution shifting left.

This is how I reconciled my own perception of shifting right despite not really changing any political views in 8 years or so.

Then they can flood the news with the right combination of hot-button issues to get the voting results they want.

There's a reason the oldest constitution for a country in the world is only 400 years, while there have been humans for 200,000. The oppressive regime always falls. Always. Then they rebuild elsewhere.

Divide & Conquer. It's how it works. The establishment uses meaningless wedge issues like abortion or gay marriage or racial tension to divide us against each other instead of coming together to focus our anger on the real enemy, the political establishment and ruling elite. Not just that, but the meaningless wedge issues make it appear that there is a difference between the two parties(hint: there isn't). There is just a Republican Wing and Democrat Wing of the Washington D.C. Elite Establishment Uniparty.

This is why the Torah is a story about a guy named Moses who got sick of being a slave to his country and left to make his home elsewhere.

And the Bible is about Jesus who disagreed with his rulers and instead of being allowed to cause a revolution, was killed.

The Quran, Bible, and Torah all contain a framework for nation-building. We'll probably never figure out a stable and fair government.

3 upvotesSquez3602 years ago

1 upvotesPoeticalArt2 years ago

What is your definition of fascism? Because, let's face it, there's no such thing as purity in this ln world, especially when you're discussing politics. Even Russia has elements of capitalism. I call myself a progressive for simplicity's sake, but I'm center-left for all intents and purposes.

Back to fascism. Let's look at some of defining traits:

-Nationalism. Heavily evidenced by the anti-immigration mentality of today's right-leaning citizens. Not damning in and of itself, but let's continue. Our children go to school every morning and pledge allegiance to the U.S. flag. Our citizens rant and rave about the greatness of America despite it's decline. 14th in Education worldwide, and 18th in Quality of Living despite having the strongest economy in the world.

-Disregard for Human Rights. Patriot act, signed in by George W. Bush, expanded upon with approval of a Republic led government. All because of 9/11.

The right is traditionally anti-abortion, anti-birth control, anti-equal marriage, and against universal healthcare in any form.

-Scapegoats or 'enemies' used to unify. The right is traditionally against anyone of Middle-Eastern descent. Much like Hitler's use of Jews as the "enemy" of the Aryan peoples. Or Russia's anti-Capitalist sentiments. Except now we're seeing it in our own political arena. "Lefty", "Republitard", etc.

-Military Supremecy. This is pretty obvious. Nazi Germany had the strongest military in the world. Russia the largest. America's is both, several times over.

-Sexism. Speaks for itself, but we've got it on both sides of the spectrum, against men and women.

-Controlled mass media. Fox News is the #1, most watched news network in the United States. And it's very much on the right of the political spectrum. Keep in mind that the majority of Fox viewers only receive their news from Fox, and some from other conservative media companies such as Breitbart. What does this mean? Fox has an agenda to push, and they do. They're consistently rated as being the least-accurate news station. I'm not saying that MSNBC or CNN don't have an agenda either, but the "right" needs to report inaccurately way more to push their agenda.

-Obsession with National Security. I don't need to explain this, do I? Since 9/11, citizen rights and privacy have slowly been stripped away in bits and pieces, and to little real effect.

-Religion and Government intertwined. The whole basis for any social conservatism is the result of religion. It's plain and simple. Gay marriage was railed against by the religious right for violating "the sanctity of marriage". Abortion and birth control opponents have no substantial argument that doesn't involve their religion.

-Protection of corporate power. Our government is run by big businesses. If you disagree, you're a fool and I have no sympathy for you. All politicians have someone pulling their strings to some extent, but you can't tell me that the Koch Bros. aren't too involved in US politics, supporting the conservative government. For fucks' sake, our government views corporations as people.

-Labor Power is suppressed. Again, the conservative government has been against Unions for a long, long time, for the exact reasons as above. Unions protect the rights of our citizens, but hurt corporate interests.

-Disdain for intellectualism and the Arts. Well, considering how much the education budget has been stripped over the years by Republican governments, I don't need to say much more. But conservatives also tend ignore scientific facts ie. Global warming because it goes against corporate interests. Obviously those people that spent 10+ years in their field can't know what they're talking about.

-Obsession with crime and punishment. Well, I could go either way with this one. I'll leave people to research this if they want, because I'm undecided here.

-Rampant corruption. Trump installed his family into the government directly beneath him. In the business world, that's called nepotism. As the investigation into our government's ties with Russia deepens, we're seeing more and more dirty shit pop up.

-Fraudulent Elections. Look, more people voted for Hillary Clinton in the presidential elections, but because of how our electoral college works, and because gerrymandering is free to manipulate party lines, Donald Trump won the election. I'm not going to dig into that because, personally, I don't much care for HRC. That said, the DNC is as internally corrupt as the RNC anyway.

People need to research shit before they go and sling shit on the internet, and that applies to both sides of the party lines. Fascism isn't a right-wing ideology, but many aspects of right-wing politics line up with fascism ideologies. The United States needs to progress as a whole instead of trying to cling to outdated ideas and traditions.

Diversity is a good thing. Damore even made the point that diversity of opinions and experience matter. He got shunned for it. So did some exec i think for Apple got canned because she said 12 white men in a room can be diverse because of their experience and opinions.

Dumb people think diversity is only a matter of one's skin color or sex.

5 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

Diversity is not a good thing. We have been successful in spite of diversity, not because of it. Having a common culture and values is the best thing for any country, company, or other organization.

0 upvotesTheseNthose2 years ago

so if you have a more efficient idea than i or what the mainstream has we should all discard your idea because you have feelings that diversity is not a good thing?

Hate to tell you but western culture as we know is a culmination of successful ideas from all cultures throughout history. The most obvious example is Democracy and a representative government system used by Greeks and the Romans.

So your ignorant idea of "we have been successful in spite of diversity" couldn't be anymore false. You are obviously viewing diversity as a thing only regulated to skin color or sex and not ideas and practice. If you honestly believe that, why are you even on this subreddit or reddit at all?

You came here to share ideas and learn from people with a diverse background, diverse experiences and a diversity of practice in order to expand your knowledge base and perhaps give you better and more efficient tools to operate your life.

0 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

Ok so you are using diversity to mean diversity of thought. This is obviously a good thing. I just haven't been shown any evidence though that to achieve diversity of thought it is necessary to have a racially or gender diverse group. We can see this from the university, which is about as diverse as it gets and yet is a monolith of group think. Same with many large corporations. What is needed for diversity of thought within an organization is to have good management/leadership and to recruit good people.

The proponents of diversity can't even agree on why we need it. They go back and forth between arguing that it will help your company's bottom line to be diverse because of all those amazing ideas that everyone will constantly be coming up with, and that it is necessary to help all the people that have been disadvantaged because of white males. I've already rejected the first notion, and I vigorously reject the second notion as well, although I am happy that people make this argument because it allows us to see what the call for diversity is: it is a crusade to discriminate against white males. Now we've come to the heart of it, haven't we. The push for diversity is a power grab. That's it. Minorities and women sense weakness and they are using the political process to grab more jobs and university slots for themselves, whether they deserve them on merit on not. Humans are of course capable of great cognitive dissonance, so they convince themselves that the first argument is true, or that there must be some great discriminatory force pervading the ether that is holding them back, and affirmative action is necessary to counter it. Never in a million never years will you convince me otherwise.

People of every civilization throughout history have valued their unity and cultural similarities and recognized them as a source of great strength and I see no difference today. There are a myriad of reasons that actually make sense as to why cultural homogeneity is desirable, as opposed to the ephemeral and ridiculous ideas that back the diversity push. I support low to moderate immigration from high skilled individuals. I support cultural assimilation through mandatory use of English in schools. I support everyone being treated equally before the law regardless of race. I guess that is a radical position in 2018.

1 upvotesTheseNthose2 years ago

The melting pot fundamentally doesn't work. It defies our human nature.

People naturally self-segregate. Forced diversity leads to poor social cohesion.

America doesn't work BECAUSE it is a "melting pot."

Blend everyone together

Sounds like the Kalergi plan. When people say this stuff, this is why white people become racist.

White people just want to be respected in their own homelands. Whites have left their former colonies to freely govern themselves, but yet whites themselves now don't have that freedom.

You are effectively saying that we must force the replacement of the white race in their own homelands. Africa doesn't have forced diversity. Asia doesn't have forced diversity. Israel doesn't have forced diversity. Only white countries have forced diversity. We never voted for this. Our politicians forced this on us.

Wow. Imagine people saying that Israel should stop being Jewish (Jews are a race, not a religion). Imagine people saying that Africa needs to stop being black. Imagine people saying Asia should stop being Asian.

But no. Only the white man is the target of this racial replacement. Everyone else get's to keep their homeland, but not the white man.

This is why war is coming. Because people like you want to replace the white man from his own own homelands. His ancestors settles and developed these lands so the future white generations could prosper, but now we have people who want to invade and replace the white man.

Google are simply trying to make thier business/company attractive by pandering to these sorts of causes. Way to overthink it. Since when the fuck is the ethnic composition if a workforce indicative of anything anyway? People are hired based on their ability to do the job. All the other shit is irrelevant. I wish people would quit viewing businesses as some demi-god of social justice that seek to counter "the narrative" of a white male stereotype. It's just a workplace not a fucking political belief system or institution that seeks to represent anything. Obsession over representation gives me the shits

People are hired to meet ratios as well.

which is inane... the person should be hired on their ability to do that job

It's really stupid to jeopardize a career at google over views on gender. The office is the source of your paycheck at the end of the day. I don't care about sharing my views on anything with 80% of my all coworkers.

16 upvotesredpillschool [OP]2 years ago

It was very stupid on his part... but he is so adamant about following this line of reasoning I assume he either planned on retiring anyway and wanted to make a splash, or he's so autistic he still doesn't get why this obsession is getting him into trouble.

They fucked up at Google even more by letting the employees get away with those personal attacks and threats of violence against Damore and other conservatives, (in writing!!!) on their internal comms. That court submission is a complete shitshow, the fact that enough material existed in plain view on their network to even file this case shows how hard they failed. They shouldn't have even been talking about their hiring quota practices out in the open like that.

I'll try and explain what would happen at my company (it's also a tech company).

1) The person who leaked the memo, if they could be identified, would be fired. Leaking is very bad for your company, yes, even worse than Trump supporters.

2) The whole company would've been escalated to DEFCON 1, a statement would be issued by the CEO with advice from the PR and legal departments.

3) There would be an explicit blackout on all internal written communication regarding the issue. No e-mail, instant messaging or posts to internal social media. Discussion of the issue would be limited to verbal, or over telephone conferencing (which by default is not recorded).

4) Anyone who violated the embargo would be disciplined, have their ability to post removed and/or be fired.

Why? Any commentary by employees could be subpoenaed by a court (as has happened in this case) and can easily contribute to the validity of the case brought against the company.

We have to do this for a number of reasons. Lets say we release a defective product and employees start talking about it on our internal Facebook thing, one of them mentions that this issue has happened before but went undiscovered. If the investors sue us, that comment will be used as evidence of wilful negligence. Even relatively benign statements can be easily misconstrued, and it's a real pain in the ass when you have employees on critical projects sat in a court because they couldn't put the keyboard down.

The same thing can happen with patents. No reading or discussion of the patents of other companies. This is in case we get sued for patent infringement, there will be no records that could construe such infringement as wilful, which would incur triple damages.

This case is likely to result in a rather large settlement. In addition, a lawyer's time is not free, and they might need to hire external legal counsel as typically tech company lawyers are not used to dealing with non-technical cases, outside of basic employment law.

It strongly suggests to me that the diversity craze has infected their legal and PR departments, since they seem to think that their SJW morality beats the law. I'd like to see a copy of their employee handbook since ours explicitly says do not discuss potential legal issues relating to the company, competitors or employees of those companies in writing.

I'll leave everyone with The Clash, who can put it more succinctly than I: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsS0cvTxU-8

Nope, he actually is on the spectrum. There is another Guardian article linked. No one with moderate social awareness would send his honest, well-researched and mostly common sense opinions to HR harpies. Anyone in corporate land (like me) can tell you that. And most certainly, no one making 6 figures in their 20s. I feel bad for that guy.

Which is funny. Able-ism is a horrible thing for those SJWs and yet, if you are a literally autistic nerd, you are still thrown under the bus for being, well, autistic.

I've read some people talking about this already and they don't seem to be too hyped about alienating all the autistic nerds in Tech.

So you'd live on your knees if they paid you enough? Where's your self respect?

0 upvotes • [deleted] • 2 years ago

People have nothing to gain from talking politics and religion at a workplace. You sound like a highschooler, no offense.

8 upvotesratbastardman2 years ago

So you'd work for a company that hates you for your political views and race, as long as you felt sufficiently compensated for it. Am I understanding you correctly?

How much would I have to pay you to suck my dick? Clearly you're willing to humiliate yourself for money.

In these situations people like to talk about the Rules of Power, specifically "Think as you like but behave as the others". But those rules are intended for court intrigue and political power struggles, and while some may apply to other areas of life, this isn't one. Hiding your views so you can make more money is cowardly.

-3 upvotesbarkinos982 years ago

You're missing the point I'd say... you literally said it yourself, think as you like but behave as the others. my boy there admitted to not even disclose his thoughts; staying out of touchy discussions are good almost simply because they mean less shit coming to you.

the guy isnt sucking someone's dick for money, so he prob wont suck yours either. just because he doesn't disclose what he thinks to his coworkers doesn't mean he's a cuck. he can be racist for all we care, but as long as he doesn't show up in skinhead and all whites to work, can anyone give two shits?

Best not to talk politics at work, Dalmore and his colleagues would have been cut out by the political forces anyway, he just went down trying to reason with them.

Wrt the "highschooler" thing, why is it that 9/10 appealing to being "an adult," is just a post hoc justification for being a discreditable man.

Being born a white heterosexual male in the west is life on the hardest difficulty setting.

Being a woman is kid mode and being black/Muslim is easy mode.

Woman is kid mode for sure. Don't know if I'd wanna be black/Muslim in the West though.

edit White, heterosexual, western male, here.

6 upvotesTFWyourWaifuDies2 years ago

The blacks can go to their homelands to go if they don't like the west. The muslims can go to their homelands if they don't like the west.

Where can the white man go? We have nowhere to go. We either keep our ship afloat, or we sink with it. There are no life rafts for us.

Your clear judgemental nature makes you part of the problem.

Individualism is suicide in an age where all other groups collectivize.

0 upvoteshackersaq2 years ago

I used to think that way when I was younger... Turns out, I don't give a shit about being unique, nor do I give a shit about being similar or the same. I will always have somewhere to go, because I don't give a shit where I am. If someone makes me miserable, I will make them miserable right back. If someone is nice to me, I will be nice to them.

Collectivism is tribalism. Tribalism is the mindless March forth to the beat of a drum belonging to a man you've never met. Individualism is Narcissism.

If we have a freedom we do not offer to all others, we don't deserve it for ourselves. By the same token, we owe ourselves freedom from fear of the truth.

4 upvotesTFWyourWaifuDies2 years ago

I don't give a shit about being unique, nor do I give a shit about being similar or the same.

This is suicide.

"Muh freedom" just means that you stand by enjoying "muh freedom" while your enemies colelctivize, gain power, then dominate you.

I don't give a shit where I am. If someone makes me miserable, I will make them miserable right back.

Good luck with that when you are a minority. You'll get lynched for stepping out of line.

Tribalism is the mindless March forth to the beat of a drum belonging to a man you've never met.

Tribalism is how the human race survives. All civilizations that valued "muh freedom" are now destroyed. If you want to survive, you have to be tribal.

If we have a freedom we do not offer to all others, we don't deserve it for ourselves. By the same token, we owe ourselves freedom from fear of the truth.

Let's offer outsiders the freedom to replace and dominate us in our lands! Yay!

This is fundamentally why liberalism is a failed ideology. Because you give others the freedom to come to your land and the freedom to vote, and what ends up happening is that they vote against your interests. And soon enough, they will dominate you.

The slave mentality. All it does is allow more and more oppression, while you keep your mouth shut like a good boy. The reason why we are in this shithole is because men stood by and kept their mouths shut for 70 years.

Someone has to speak out. Yes, they will lose initially. But slowly, the fire rises. Slowly, more and more speak out, and it gets to the point where you can't fire them all.
