Damn, reading this definitely hit home for me. Young ,Black male, soon-to-be-college grad here. I use to get picked on in middle school for "acting white" because I liked to speak properly and respectfully to others and I enjoyed learning and reading(especially history). Most of the picking actually came from the girls more than the guys, in fact, I never had problems with my fellow black males and some of the ones I met in middle school are still great friends with me to this very day.
However, all of that picking on and bullshiterry, and then choosing the thug type of guys who would be high all the time or taking bar pills and things of that nature, effectively pushed me away from dating black girls all the up to this point in time now as a 22-year-old. Plus all that religiousness bullshit, that in honesty, most black men don't follow and only go to church to find a chick to bone.
All of that madness and extreme dislike towards the intellectual black guys who have "soled out to the white man", and their bigotry that I experienced when I was young pretty much drove me away from dating black women today. Now I know not ALL black women are like that but I can damn sure say that 90% are and the other 10% are dating someone out of their ethnic group just like the 10% of black males that do not follow the typical bullshit. My mom and dad completely agree with my decision and doesn't blame me for making said decision. Black women, for the most part, are ratchet as hell and its a shame that this attitude is spreading to other groups and I see it at a rapid rate, and the internet expedites this as well. Real talk, there is a reason why a lot of brothers who are educated and looking to settle down are looking towards Latin America...

Near where I live there's a couple cash-only bars, which as you can suspect doesn't exactly get guys who wear suits. I'm friends with one of the owners, so I stop in occasionally, and one thing I've noticed is the white guys who best emulate rap culture are getting a surprising amount of pussy. Gangsta is in.

Oh yeah I see that shit ALL the time down here in Houston man. "Gangsta" is so damn glorified its not even funny. Then they'll get mad and say shit like "Y u ain't claimin yo people?" or my favorite, "Y u datin all dem mexicans and asians?" shit was annoying, but now I just laugh it off and leave them to their bullshit.

A great quote can be found in the comments: "If you reward backwards behavior, that’s what you’ll get no matter the color of one’s skin."
Reward backwards behaviour and thats what you will get. Game, anyone? Alpha male model? This reward system is in part why all of us are here.

A good book about this is "Coming Apart: The State of White America". He focuses just on white people.

I have taken two black chicks out in my life. Both of them had made the decision to date outside of their race.
I wonder how many others are like that?

Eh, maybe. Marriage is more common and divorce is much less common in the upper classes. The book Coming Apart referenced above talks about this at length.

Looks like simple proof-of-concept there on hypergamy.

This article. I don't think I have read an article that was full of stereotypes. I don't appreciate this article simply because of this. We can make anything look bad when when we take all of the negative aspects of it and put it into an article.
Just remember, just because a person is black does not mean that they fit into this archetype. It's articles like this that perpetuate this stereotype. And effectively marginalizes those individuals that do not fit into this stereotype. In which there are a number of black people who don't fit them.
Just remember: "black" is not a personality. For me, "black" is not who I am, but WHAT I am. I am more than just a black person. I have my own interests, hobbies, beliefs, and personality that are different from the stereotypes seems to perpetuate.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm black. I wrote the article. You are fighting a strawman.
Nobody said that EVERY black American fits EVERY bill listed in that article. The statistics cited in the text make this clear (ex: "41% of black women are obese"-that's 41%, not ALL). Absolutely NOWHERE in the article was it claimed that all black americans fit into any of the concerns I mentioned.
What the article did do is outline a host of GENERAL trends that are concerning and significant within the culture as a whole. They don't touch every individual within that culture, but touch enough of them to be considered a widespread cultural trend/issue.
You can take umbrage if you wish and ignore these concerns because they make you feel uncomfortable, but they will not go away because of your discomfort.

But here's the think though. Yes, there are some horrible things that go on within black culture AS A WHOLE but there are some very good aspects of it which no one ever seems to take notice: strong sense of community, strong family bonds, etc. Please let's not forget them.
And it's also the idea that no one looks at what the statements do. It makes it appear that this is normal. And if there is someone who doesn't fit into those stereotypes, then something is wrong with them, further marginalizing them. Like a poster below, who wants nothing to do with black women, because of the stereotype that surrounds that archetype of the angry black woman.
Yes, there is an issue of the strawman, but I feel that with articles such as these, it perpetuates stereotypes.

You have a very ideological outlook, as if the mere act of stating the facts is going to make them worse.
We're not talking about stereotypes, we're talking about statistics.

Exactly. Cultural problems that are swept under the rug tend to grow like a tumor. As OP said, the same trends are happening in white america, just a generation behind.
