Been working as a occupational therapist (rehab) for a little over a year now. As the title implies, I am a per diem therapist who has hours everyday. I actually work two jobs: one weekdays in the hospital and one (which I am very rarely called into) at a nursing home on the weekends (my first job after passing boards). How do I get health insurance if these jobs don’t offer it?
My situation: currently was hired per diem at this hospital and was supposed to get close to “full time hours”. Was hired because the past OT was on maternity leave. I was also told that if a full time position opened I would be first to be considered. This was two months ago. Since then, the OT who was on maternity leave returned and now there has been a drop in my hours even though I was promised (not in writing) to have close to a 8 hour day every weekday. For example for the past 2 days I’ve only been having half a day work. Any advice on my situation? I really hope I can transition into a full time position here or at least be able to keep my 8 hour workday since I am payed a very good hourly amount ($48/HR).
TLDR: don’t know where to get health insurance, my new job pays very well but the old employee came back and now my hours might be cut, what do?
