Getting some good tools has been aMAZing for how clean my home is. It's so much easier to do when things are ready and available and pleasant to use.

I don’t enjoy cleaning but we waste a lot of time looking for stuff if things don’t belong in a certain place. In the end my goal is that the house is organized well enough and can be easy enough to keep clean so that our kids can help manage a lot of it.

Our cat! He is adept at rearranging counters for us if he is displeased with our tidiness!
I like scheduling small gatherings on a frequent enough basis to stay motivated. Having a French press makes the morning slower, too! I’ve also noticed how much less peaceful it is to sleep/nap when the house is in disarray. The way I prefer to dress at home also keeps me honest. I like wearing refined vintage nightgowns and pretty robes and it feels very out of context when it looks slovenly inside! I also tend to talk on the phone using headphones to keep my mind active while cleaning.

Oh yes, my house is a lot tidier since we got a counter-surfing chew-mad dog.

I agree with having nice supplies, and it also helps me to have a cleaning schedule.
But honestly what helps me most is having some intellectual pursuits that keep my brain busy. That way, cleaning becomes a time to think, or to listen to a challenging podcast, or to take a break from thinking.

Oh man, off topic but I was just browsing the homemaking sub yesterday hoping for it to be what it will never be. I want to see systems, resources, or even book recommendations to optimize all aspects of homemaking but it's mostly cleaning questions over there. Unfortunately the women in my family never kept house and always had paid help so I couldn't just learn it while growing up.
Is homemaking just a synonym for cleaning? I don't know if home economy is better suited for what I'm looking for...
Right now on my book wishlist I have:
On my possession (but not read yet) I have:
If anyone has read and has any comments on the quality of these books (or can recommend a different one) I'd really appreciate it. I've of course read Marie Kondo's book and have integrated her system for dealing with clothes.

Home management plain and simple saved my life and my sanity. It’s very very useful if you have children. Buy it today and then join my pact to offer my soul to Kim Brenneman. Buy it now and reread every year.

Radical homemaking was very much more about homesteading and permaculture and tiny houses, etc. It was a decent read but not quite what it sounds like you're looking for. I think homemaking can be quite broad, and includes decorating, cooking, etc.
I can rec @quiet_clean_organised on instagram though, for home cleaning stuff.

My SO coming home to a clean and tidy home. Seriously I hate cleaning but I take pride in a clean home. Also the dog sheds... a lot.
