Really, it's not about traffic for me, I thought TRP readers would like to be included in the discussions at RM and bring them here as well. I wasn't trying to defy any established rules or pull a god move on TRP.

I'll stop posting new post alerts if that's the rule.

Rollo's blog lead me here. Without him I would be on my way to the BB end of AF/BB and the divorce rape it ensues. I in many ways owe my life to him for helping me see reality.

Rollo was the guy who first brought me to TRP by his blog. After reading more than once every post in his website, every other piece of knowledge from this sub became auxilliary to his. His language is way easier to understand than some other popular websites.

Would /r/astrophysics do the same to Neil deGrasse? Because this is what it looks like.

Playing devil's advocate here, although Rational Male has some of the highest quality material out there on the internet meant for young men, I still believe that everyone should be held accountable. I have not reported anyone on here (and I promise that) and I myself lost an account on reddit due to someone on askmen reporting me for posting red pill material. Now that said, if we don't hold everyone accountable this turns into tyranny.

Yes, out of all of us, Rollo has a lot more knowledge and is a high quality poster. That said, if preferential treatment on here gets this bad then it damages the quality of the overall sub. I have not seen one bad post made by Rollo ever since I have been here but if there was a situation where he came home drunk and started posting dumb shit, I would expect he mods here to take action. I don't think strong preferential treatment to where one person can get his do what he wants and get away with it method is great for the sub in the long run at all. It would make a lot of users want to leave here and stunt the growth of this sub.

The posts Rollo makes are perfect examples that go against the rules the mods just made. The rules the mods implored everyone to report on in order to improve the quality of this sub. Interpretative action like ignoring those rules when it comes to a legend like Rollo is a moderator job, not a user one. Are there any other people who no one should report? I can think of a few I wouldn't under any circumstances, but I don't really have a line. And it's not my job to figure it out, that's on the mods. If you want a zealous cleansing of low quality posts, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to have to save the exceptions to the rule yourselves, otherwise the rules need to be laxed so they wouldn't be violations in the first place.

I think the problem is that it goes against well defined rules that are strictly enforced with prejudice. Having rules and then making exceptions is trademark hamster behavior.

Maybe we need a little article on what is and isn't appropriate for users to report. It should help drop reports on good posts that are actually of value. Whilst I don't advocate spoon-feeding people, sometimes it best to clear things up to prevent this type of idiocy.

Devil's advocate time:

Let's assume that I'm a new eager beaver to TRP, I'm cognizant that I don't fully understand TRP yet but I still want to contribute to the community.

So what can I, the new eager beaver, do to contribute? While I'm working my way through the sidebar, not a lot.

However, the mods have repeatedly made it clear that users should make liberal use of the report button, that it makes their jobs easier. So I read up on the posting rules, and I report anything that appears to be violating the rules.

And as a new eager beaver, I see a post from /u/rollo-tomassi which appears to simply be quoting some blog and contain no real analysis in and of itself, from a user who doesn't have a "TRP Endorsed" sticker. (he doesn't, I checked.) Edit - He has it now

Let's assume that I'm only halfway through the sidebar. I know the posting rules, but I haven't reached any of Rollo's material yet and I don't know who he is. Can I, the eager beaver, really be blamed for wanting to help and hitting the report button?

For fuck's sake, it at least means they've read the posting rules...which is more than I can say for a lot of newbies.

Seeing this sub is growing very fast and new members are 99% shit, I suggest the following, if possible: - New subs can only report posts after 2 weeks here - New subs can only reply to a post after 2 weeks here - New subs can only make a new post after 4 weeks here

New subs belong in the sidebar, reading this board and asktrp. This board is for value.

Edit: this is based on if you can see who reported the content, I have no idea if mods get that info or not... I assume you do.
