As much as I want to make a sarcastic comment mocking the bullshit analogy, if the proportion of useful content is low compared with the amount of content which is either useless or actively damaging overall it's still a shit place where at the very least you will be wasting your time in using it and if anything probably screwing yourself.

I can't agree with this. Signal to noise ratio is important.

If you don't know which piece of advice is useful, and it's among 99 identical looking but non-useful pieces of advice.... Trying to follow that sites advice doesn't give you an advantage.

Personally I think RPs signal to noise ratio is easy high enough to avoid this, but that ratio does need to be kept up.

It's not as if the average RP noob has a vast bank of experience to call on when sorting the wheat from the chaff. It's important to give them as much wheat and as little chaff as possible, or at least as much as is consistent with TRPs other goal of giving males a place to vent about masculine issues as well.

A relative used to give me advice all the time. Most of it was garbage. Once in a blue moon it was decent. I am not going to waste my time sorting through what's useful and what's not. Instead, I am going to find someone else who can give advice that I don't have to spend a bunch of time validating. I see RP like how I see that relative's advice.

Hit the gym, care for yourself, indulge in things that you enjoy, and forget the haters isn't new advice. It's actually really, really, old (and good) advice. That you can find, well, anywhere. Tumbler, Orthodox Satanism, and a great number of self-help books even give that advice.

Adding on shitty bits doesn't make it new or revolutionary, it just makes it more confusing and isolating for people who are having a generally shitty time in their lives anyway. Further more saying that those shitty bits are in there to weed out the wheat from the chaf doesn't make it seem any more valid either. It just seems as if you're "shit-testing and dread-gaming" yourselves.

The 3DO had the original GEX game. Great game. However, it also had a number of random dumb games, including the infamous "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties". It was also expensive and there were a lot better alternatives at the time like the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. That's the red pill. Or the red pill is the Sega 32x. It's an add on to the genesis with one or two good games, but it was generally a colossal failure.

TRP engages in overt sexism. That's problematic, because when we carry around negative and fallacious stereotypes, it influences the way we treat people. Sexism, racism, classism, ableism these things HURT people everyday. In so far as TRP spreads sexism, it's creating harm. One useful post, doesn't justify it's existence. I would argue that men are fully capable of setting up a positive community that doesn't proudly proclaim itself to be amoral. Maybe I just have a higher opinion of men than TRP does.
