I'm sure you've all heard the statistics that 80% of women are going after 20% of men.

This isn't just an online dating statistic. In fact, the online dating statistics are even worse than this, with women swiping right on just 4.5% of men: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0272775719301104

So we can see that whether it's real life or online dating, a clear majority of men are undesirable to women. Yes most men usually find a long term partner, but this is because women prioritise security and stability later in their life. This has nothing to do with how desirable the man is.

My question is, what is it about most men that makes them this undesirable to women? We can talk about obesity and how X% of men are overweight, but this is missing three crucial points:

  1. Obesity is an issue among older people, not so much younger people
  2. Outside the US, people aren't fat. Obesity is very much an American problem. In the rest of the world, people are normal weights.
  3. In the past, men weren't as fat but women still found only a minority of men desirable.

In my opinion, it's more than obesity, although I'm sure obesity does play some part in this.
