Before you comment, consider whether you’re expressing a normative statement (value judgement) or positive statement (descriptive - how people are; how the world is).

If you believe people ‘should’ do this or ‘ought’ to do that, you’re making a normative statement, a value- based judgment - wishful thinking. It describes what you want them to be like, but not what they are actually like.

If you describe people and relationships by observing their behaviour, or by observing the scientific literature, you’re making a positive statement about how people behave. Knowing how shit actually works allows one to navigate where you want to go or avoid, and how you can get there.

“Hot chicks ought to like me because I’m a nice guy with a heart of gold ” is a normative statement.

“Instead of bitching, let’s find out what the scientific literature says about attractiveness: what masculine attributes women are attracted to. Once we know, we can enhance those attributes in ourselves to attract more, or more attractive, women” is a positive statement. It describes the world as it is. From there, we can actually solve problems instead of making wishes.

TL/DR: Normative statements are value-laden and nothing more than wishful thinking. They don’t solve your problems and won’t make your life better.

Positive statements describe the world as-is and allow us to problem-solve. Once you realize how shit actually works, you can change your behaviour to better adapt to your environment.
