Are they paying my bills, no so don't care. I do not have a FSM, I have one or two long time friends whose opinion I value but I am not even sure I would change my behavior or decisions based on their concern it would depend on the situation. But dating? Zero fucks. I am not in high school or college, I do not belong to a country club or a suburb where people are tightly knit, I am not connected to any kind of social network whose opinion would matter to me in that realm. By the laws of supply and demand, her being less desirability means lower prices (aka less time/money/effort I have to spend in getting and keeping her). While I don’t doubt most people (men and women) would rather be with an “attractive to them” partner, I do believe the type of person to fuck somebody they are not attracted to because others want to is uniquely female.

It’s the reason so many (not all) women will fuck ugly celebrities.

Further, people would also likely admit to experiencing at least a cheap thrill from walking into a room and knowing their partner was turning heads.
