Given that the only remaining point of marriage if to facilitate the raising of children (hence the entirety of justification for child support and to a lesser extent alimony), it would make sense to make the contract last until the last child that's the product of the marriage becomes an independent adult.

You will inevitably have people who are happy with what they have going and want an option to renew.

As with most other things people will be on their best behavior right before renewal time, make the other party rethink leaving, give up as soon as renewal is done, rinse and repeat until somebody finally calls it quits midway through a 5-year period and brings us right back to regular divorce with extra steps.

Women wouldnt win cash and prizes in a divorce, and the government wouldnt be able to get their cut. It would benefit men and women wouldnt like that.

YES! This is what I believe in. We should do pairing contracts to accomplish financial goals and the split has to happen and if you want to be married married you both have to go through the trouble of getting a marriage certificate.

I kind of like this idea. Plus it keeps the sex fresh since there’s no threat of it being the only partner forever. Nothing like a new partner to light that fire.

My friends did a 'handfasting'. Its a pagan marriage that lasts a year and you renew it every anniversary.

I think a legal marriage is only useful for financial reasons.
