It's a lot of work and there's no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You'll have to figure out how to meet perspective spouses IRL by visiting and dating. You'll then have to document that the relationship is legit and not a visa scam, then you'll have to fly her back home and get married within 90 days. You'll be interviewed by immigration a few times to verify the relationship is real. You'll likely have little in common with her and have a language barrier to work on. The guys in the shows with the worst luck find brides way above their looks levels, going for more of a looks match foreign bride is probably the best bet. Could save up and retire early then live in a foreign county to skip all the paperwork and risks. Suppose it depend on if you want to get married/have kids or not based on your life planning time frame. Having a mail order bridge is going to lead to a lot of gossip and ridicule behind your back, it's expensive, after a while you'll probably hate each other and things will fall apart.

Edit: I sort of tried this in my late 20s, I made a few chat friends online and eventually traveled to their country for a two week vacation. Went on a number of dates but was mostly rejected, didn't click/feel a connection. One seemed to like me but I got too much of a bad vibe about the situation and ended it. It was an interesting experience, I regretted it at first, felt dumb and disappointed but looking but it was kinda of exciting and I made a couple of friends who showed me around their city.

First, you should read the actual academic research about mail order brides. That article has links to a lot of recent research. Most of it is positive which is amazing, because it is mostly done by feminist sociology professors who started out very opposed to the concept.

Here is a review of the only book published by an academic press on the topic in at least a decade. That means it was reviewed and commented on by two or three professors selected by NYU Press before they published it.

Finally, here is a video by a professor who teaches in the Texas A&M system who has actually traveled around the world and interviewed men, women, and the people from the agencies.

So, that gets past most of the basic questions. Second, money is a factor, but more important for many women is that they like the concept of a Western marriage where they have some input. This is especially true of women who are educated and successful. They have options. Here is an article about the Forgotten Women of China. There are similar traditions all over Asia.

Well, that's a lot of info. The crazy thing is there is a mountain of legitimate info and it is largely positive, but it is overwhelmed in the public discourse by stupid memes, stories from the 1990s, and bad TV. Bringing them here causes them to Americanize and opens the door to visa exploitation and divorce.
