Betas believe that universe will somehow reward them for being good. They believe that they get women by being "nice guys" and they believe the same lie in the larger context of life too.

Reddit's circle jerk that favours Nikola Tesla over Thomas Edison (Or Woz over Jobs etc.) is good example of that. They believe that if you create value you don't have to worry about how to capture some of that value to yourself. That's very typical mindset that many scientist have. It's a mindset that makes engineers to disdain sales. And it's a tragic mistake.

The first thing to do is to dispel the belief that the best product always wins. There is a rich history of instances where the best product did not, in fact, win. Nikola Tesla invented the alternating current electrical supply system. It was, for a variety of reasons, technologically better than the direct current system that Thomas Edison developed. Tesla was the better scientist. But Edison was the better businessman, and he went on to start GE. Interestingly, Tesla later developed the idea of radio transmission. But Marconi took it from him and then won the Nobel Prize. Inspiration isn’t all that counts. The best product may not win.

Alpha doesn't expect fairness. He doesn't believe that girls will just give him pussy for being "nice guy" and alpha doesn't believe that employee etc. will just hand him money for creating value. No, alpha creates value for himself and captures as much as possible from that value to himself.

Elon Musk is example of alpha that uses this beta mindset to his advantage. Look any thread about how bad salaries SpaceX pays and reddit betas will come to rescue and tell how Elon is saving the world and that's why they don't care if they have to work 100 hours per week for bad salary as long as they are "putting dent in the universe". I am not saying that Elon doesn't have noble goals, but he always makes sure that he is the one capturing value (in this case equity) from his work, while his beta employees are working for peanuts.

So don't be stupid beta who believes in fairness. Be Elon Musk, don't be beta engineer at SpaceX. Be Edison, not Tesla. Be Jobs, not Woz.
