Your instinct is correct. Your friends are flexing on you. Of course they are going to say you're overthinking. They're putting you in your place by shutting you down. Men always test each others status to establish a hierarchy. How do you think it looks to your woman that another man is "leading" her?

You don't have to get angry or make a scene. You can keep it 'joking' but don't waiver. Nobody likes change and once you start standing up to them, they're going to double down or dismiss you, but consistency is key. Over time, they'll learn that you're serious and they'll back off.

Easy fix, tell your girl to stay out and tell the dude to go do it. No need to be hostil with it either. Be stoic and stern. This is a bad seed that has been embedded into the foundation of that social environment.

Your friend might come off as the leader of the group but all leaders need to be tested. This goes for you and him.

You’re being tested to see if you can face confrontation and have self respect.

Bunch of babies. The answer is it depends on context. If your ‘friend’ is asking your girl to booty shake in front of everyone and calls her honey after, he’s showing you up. If he’s asking her to pass the ketchup because she’s sitting next to the fucking ketchup, it makes you look like a social retard when you say ‘go get it yourself (while thinking I ain’t no cuck, bitch)’.

And you know what, it shouldn’t even fucking matter which context it is. Your frame is all kinds of fucked. This is a chance for her to PROVE to YOU that she’s a good LTR. That she will only answer to YOU. It’s a chance to see if she is able to say no without you overlooking her. That she has standards. These are chances for her to prove her worth, don’t be stupid and give her a free pass. Let her take the test on her own, quit trying to problem solve for her.
