I see a lot of what femininity isn't. What would you say femininity is?

The femininity men want is whatever and however they want to describe it.

I personally ascribe to “feminine” and “masculine” expressly physiological traits prominent in each gender.

Feminine: Womanly curves, softer skin, neotenous eyes and face shape, etc.
Masculine: Physically stronger. Wider jawline. More of a muscular frame (women view this as powerful) than a smaller softer one (men view this as pleasant).

Humble. Trusting. Confident. Bold. Assured. Disciplined. Strategic. Thoughtful. Assertion. Understanding. Compassionate. Reliable. Competitive. Empathetic. Self sufficient. Charming. Submissive. Ambitious. Expressive. Competent. Affectionate.

I’m sure some men like more of those traits in woman than vice versa and some women like more of those traits in men than vice verse.

I personally admire all of the traits I listed and would appreciate them in a female of male mate. Except for submissive. That’s something I’ve never even thought to desire in someone. I’m well aware it’s a male desire. I’m sure many men around here don’t want a woman who exhibits assertion when she’s passionate.

I typically find it odd that women (I'm a woman by the way) constantly accuse men of trying to keep women down. I mean, in terms of women's reproductive rights, the classic Roe V. Wade case was decided on by a panel of 100% Male judges, there were no female judges voting, only males, yet somehow it's the males holding women back and trying to control their sexuality? If we look at female voter rights, who had the right to change the law and allow women to vote? It wasn't because a bunch of house wives were holding signs and protesting, it was men who changed the law and allowed women the right to vote. They had all the power and they changed the dynamic and determined that women should have a right to their own opinions regarding how laws are made. If men are so powerful and patriarchal then a bunch of loud protesting women aren't going to change much. A caveman doesn't give a crap about a screaming/hollering women, he'd probably just bash her on the head to shut her up. So the idea that men are trying desperately to keep women down is nonsense and a manipulation tactic in my opinion.

TRUST: trust is trust, it has nothing to do with gender. Trust is something that it's earned by someone within a greater social context. Trust is hard to gain, and easy to lose; and - at the same time - it's priceless.

HUMILITY: humility is so very anti-culture. We live in a society of know-it-all, which works ... until it doesn't. Take for instance the present coronavirus situation, it's aggravated by the "Just do it" and "know-it-all" attitude. There's no humility where people tell themselves "Let me learn what I need to that I can act accordingly". And this lack of humility might lead to their death and/or - unfortunately - to someone else's death.

Humility is often mistaken for weakness (by third parties) or as morality (by weak people); it's sad.

SUBMISSION: this is plain stupid. I consider myself a TRP leaning guy, but I never understood how the TRP narrative got hijacked from inspiring a man to be the best that he could be to... finding a woman who would submit to the man IRL "she needs to cook and clean for me". Dunno, that's so... 1800? And, since this is Reddit, I MUST clarify that the above statement doesn't mean that I believe in submitting to a woman (nice try FDS, LOL).

On a sexual level, as in when the clothes come off, I like to consensually dominate a submissive woman, BDSM style, but that's another story for a different sub.

Y’know, I’m just going to go ahead and say that most thoughts of what is good coming from either side is going to be taken as “good for me.”

What those men claim “femininity” is, is good for those men, while what women claim “being a man” is, is good for them. Let’s not act like we’re virtuously accepting our partners for who they are. We accept who we want based on how much benefit they add to our lives without costing us. I’m sure women would like to mold men into tall, attractive, muscular atm machines that can read minds and tell jokes to entertain them when they’re bored, just as much as men would like to mold women into attractive, submissive, child-rearing machines who know how to cook and know when to stop talking because nobody wants to hear them talk.

So, for now, let’s just admit that most of the major demands by and for the opposite sex are in conflict with each other, and we have no reason to believe or act otherwise.

It’s true, I agree. Trust, humility and submission seems more like adjectives describing a BDSM sub or something.

The textbook definition of Femininity is the quality of acting in a typically womanly, girlish, or feminine way and different cultures have different ideas of what femininity looks like.

I assume that those (oppressive) descriptions of femininity come from an outdated culture and time of history more so than ((Men)) themselves, It’s similar to blaming modern day Germans for the crimes of ww2 era Nazi Germans.

Men hate and despise female sexuality. They can't handle that women only want to mate with actual competent and worthy men, since this leaves out the useless, lazy and unworthy men.

Realistically, men don’t despise female sexuality, that doesn’t make sense.

I think you mean insecure overly jealous men that can’t handle their partners being more attractive than them or they’ll get attention from more competent men and that would mean a competition that they can’t beat. So they try to control their partners’ freedom in how they dress, who they talk to etc.

I wouldn’t say that only men could exhibit those kinds of controlling behavior, I’d say more women are like this than men, since more women stalk, screenshot messages etc. hence why the stereotype of some women being “psycho bitches”.

I grew up in a religious household, had fairly spiritual beliefs most of my life, but I agree when I say religion and outdated traditions/law are the greatest hindrance for true freedom of both sexes and especially for women, who definitely suffered for too long under the tyranny of it.

Religion is basically the same laws and teachings from thousands of years prior our time (the same period where buying and selling slaves was the norm) and following it is majorly retarded and takes us back down the ascending ladder of enlightenment.

I however, wouldn’t attribute it to Men, that’s inaccurate and biased to claim that men now are the same men thousands of years ago, and it’s irrational to push all men into the same patriarchal/tyrannical image we have of a select few.

The type of "femininity" described here was artificially created by men to control women/hypergamy. The patriarchy is not the natural state of things, it was created at some point in history.

Patriarchy theory is just that, a theory. One that has no data proving it's existence and what the compelling reasons for its supposed existence are. It was made up by feminists to further an agenda and narrative that they cultivate and keep alive for their own ends.

It's all just assertions that you're making based on your view of the world. Yes, crappy things happened in human history on all sides of the gender equation. Until recently we all had it tough, just to survive, everyone played their part.

But to say that the society we live in today is born out of male hatred of women and their sexuality is just wrong. Society and humans in general have an overriding primary driving force, to survive, and most decisions and/or laws were derived from that, first and foremost. Survival required cooperation between the sexes, not hatred.

Did women endure crappy behavior throughout history? Yes. Do they today? Yes. But this isn't the result of 'men', and men endured shit too, historically, like dying in wars to protect their families.

As a man I truly don't give two shits about your sexuality. Most men don't, they're just trying to survive like everyone else.
