Wrong question. Are attractive people more attractive when they are youthful and in good shape/take care of themselves/etc, the answer is yes.

Are older attractive people more attractive than less attractive young people? Yes.

Youth is just another factor in favor of attraction but it in itself doesn't mean young > old only that people are more attractive when they were younger, based on their own personal level of attraction.

I looked better older than 25 because I was a late grower that filled out.

My wife did because I met her when she was 18, had a perfect body, but came from a frugal house where she got her clothes at JC Penny and put on makeup like she was trying to look 40 (she had no clue, I met her in a situation where she had no makeup).

But had she known how to dress/makeup/hair back at 18-20 then yes she would have been better looking.

Probably wouldn't have ended up with me either, but thats my personal joke.

When people hit 25+, that is mostly when things like lifestyle choices show. The ones who want to stay attractive, need to work at it. Most men and women, I would honestly say let themselves go.

Which is why on average, most people hit the wall (both men and women).

The RP sidebar does not claim anywhere that by being a man you are attractive regardless of your age either, it actually says this a lot of hard work. However as women look a number of other variables other than looks (which men seem to place more importance in), it does make sense that men can remain attractive in one way or another, more easily than a woman. "Damn female lawyers are hot" said no man ever.

But even if a man puts in a lot of work, will he be more attractive than a younger man, if looks are all that matters, then of course not. But on the other hand, if he puts in the work to stay attractive, then he is probably a better catch, than other men around his age to the women that are willing to date a man that age.

Of course younger men and women are objectively the most attractive compared to their older counterparts. A plain man/woman is most attractive when things arent sagging (ie younger), despite being plain. A plan man/woman will not be more beautiful with age.

You can be attractive and older of course too, but that's dependent on genetics (for example, high cheekbones will keep your cheeks at their right place for longer than someone who will see premature sagging due to less underlying support) and taking care of yourself as you age. Basically, genetics can give you "youthful" (read: beautiful) face traits for longer (plump face vs thin face, high cheekbones vs premature sagging). But everyone ages, there comes a point where you have to choose between a plump face (and body) to look younger or a thinner face with more visible lines and wrinkles and a slimmer body.

If you take good care of your body throughout your 20s (limit partying, alcohol, unhealthy diet, sun exposure, sedentary lifestyle), you'll look better than your counterpart later in life.

There comes a point where youth isn't enough, you gotta work for it.

So: 8ish hours of sleep, activity, eating your vegetables, limiting alcohol/drugs, limit excessive sun exposure (RIP my 25 nmol/L vitamin D-levels).

And some "old" physical traits are quite attractive. I think white hair and crow's lines (laugh lines) are quite beautiful.

I'm 29 and I find men in their mid 20s the most attractive. When I find men younger than 25 attractive, I often feel guilty about it. I think it has to do with me being aware and self conscious about my own age though, like since I think that they wouldn't be attracted to me then I'm not going to allow myself to be attracted to them.

As an early 30s female I’d say I’m way more attractive now. I have more confidence but also I had a chubby face in my 20s and now it’s getting hallowed so I have cheekbones popping and jawline is sharper. I also do keep in shape and invest in skincare.

Youth and attractiveness is more subjective to women, women are more attracted to men who are closer in age to themselves.

Young men are attractive to young women I suppose but as a lady in her 30s I think they just look like babies. Men are not objectively attractive to me now until they are 25+ (and I would imagine that plateaus around 45).

Try me again in 20 years, maybe I will have a different answer.

I'm 38 and I don't feel this way. Ofcourse I can see it when a young man/woman is beautiful, but I feel more attractive to older man/woman, from around my own age (30 - 45).

attractive people are most attractive I want to say regardless of age but at a certain point that obviously isn't the case like after 50+ it's unlikely you'll be more attractive than many 20 year olds. But from age 18-35ish I would say attractiveness is a free for all. Some early 30s folks looks better than than early 20s folks depends on your facial features, symmetry, balance, weight, height, physique, teeth, hygiene all sorts of things.

Physically yes, in the sense that the human body is supposed to be running optimally during those years. Pretty sure this applies to most animals (as in, they have age brackets in which their bodies are running optimally).

That being said LTRs/marriages and raising of families need more than raw attraction to remain stable, assuming that one would want to pursue such goals.

I'm 29 and look like 21....with 18-26 i was asked my passport everytime when i wanted to buy beer or wanted to see a R-Rated movie. My GF even said that like now i'm 100 times more hot than before. I think it ultimately comes down to the individual but generally yes younger adults are better looking.

Objectively, yes, I think so. I think people of both genders are still quite attractive into their 30s and early 40s, but as attractive as when they were 25? No, I don't think so. Unless they made some major lifestyle improvements (weight loss is a big one).

I think what age I find most attractive changes as I age.

When I was 18 I thought 25 year olds were less attractive than 18 year olds most of the time. When I was 25 I thought 30 year olds looked old, now I’m 32 and think anyone under 28 or so looks like an actual child more often than not.

I think people who say “everyone is most attractive in their early-mid 20s” is confusing objective beauty standards to what you’re actually most attracted to. When I look at a statue or a painting of a person I find it beautiful, I have no sexual desire for it. I can look at a dog, or a child, and I can determine which dog or baby is most beautiful but I have no sexual desire for either.

Are 18-25 year olds at their “peak” for objective beauty? Yeah maybe depending on the person (some people mature physically faster or slower than others) but what actually matters in terms of who you want to “mate” with is who you feel sexual desire towards not who you think is prettiest like a painting.

I think most people in their 30s are more sexually attracted to other people in their 30s than people in their early 20s or late teens. There is evolutionary programming that makes us feel that way: it’s better for the species if people at similar reproductive stages are attracted to each other, as it would optimize the reproduction of the species as a whole. If older men only wanted much younger women, those old men would “age out” of their reproductive prime long before their mates and those young women would waste good baby making years. At the same time, women in their later reproductive years would have no one to reproduce with as the men their age wouldn’t be interested and waste their last chances to procreate. It’s the same reason we’re programmed not to feel sexual desire for children younger than reproductive age (unless you’re neurologically deviant). It just doesn’t make sense for the species for individuals to waste reproductive time and energy on individuals who aren’t fertile, or who won’t be fertile for a similar amount of time we are.

Female attractiveness is really a product of what the man wants long term. If he wants kids a 25 year old 7 is better than a 40 year old 10. If he wants sex a 40 year old 10 is better than 25 year old 7. It’s pretty straight forward regardless if palatable.

Duh? You don’t have to “take care of yourself” because your metabolism keeps many people looking decent until at least their early 20s. All the tanning you’ve done hasn’t had a chance to make your skin wrinklier than a raisin. Most men aren’t old enough to start balding. Most women’s boobs haven’t had a chance to start sagging. Both sexes are objectively at the peak of their fertile years. So yes, I think that holds true.

Your 20s are when weight comes and stays off the easiest, it’s when muscles max out the best and when skin is at its best. After this, you need to work harder to maintain it.

No. Attraction is subjective, not objective. There's no measure for attractiveness outside of human perception (bias).

There is a general consensus that youthful appearances are often more attractive. But this cannot be stated objectively, just statistically.

And the consensus doesn't appear to indicate that women and men peak at the same age. it appears men peak later

Edit: If I had to guess my age when I peaked, it was about 25. I still looked boyish until then. Apparently, many girls don't like boyish features. Or maybe it was my confidence and demeanor. But that still plays a role in attraction (a very large one for men).
