Every single person is asking why they are getting temporary bans in the modmail. We can't answer you all individually, so the post here should explain it all.

When people post questions to TRP, instead of ATRP, there's a few concerns:

  1. didn't read the sidebar, especially the very top for posting rules. They are designed to make this place 'not shit' for a reason.
  2. Did read the sidebar, and don't think the rules apply to them, or think they can get a quick answer before the ban.

Either way, answering their questions, instead of reporting/guiding them to the appropriate place is emboldening them to continue to do so. I also notice that those people almost never (with a few exceptions) answer questions on ATRP anyways.

They are degrading the quality of both subreddits, and causing more work for the moderators.

So, the end goal is to have personal questions in ATRP, and thought out, valuable content in TRP. Since reddit cannot incentivize you for good behavior, the 'cooling off' period is the best we got.

For the rest of us, the feedback has been extremely positive, and a lot of you are getting what we are trying to do here, the amount of reports we are getting is way higher, with only a few false positives. For those making everyone's life easier, and directly taking some ownership in your locker room,

Thank you brothers.

P.S. if you want to see how this ends up without clamping down, theres any number of enthusiast subreddits out there. They initially start as people discussing things they have a passion for, and eventually devolve into a question sub. All the value-posters leave, and all that's left are the clueless, and constant floods of questions, without anyone to answer them.
