Not quite, as most men understand the concept of receiving consequences from their own actions, and the cost-benefit of doing such things in the long run is in the negative territory.
Your family and friends are also resources (materials, skills, knowledge, networks, manpower, etc.) that you can tap from on a regular basis, provided that you play fair and provide something positive to them in return.
Nobody has ever become successful by being a lone asshole.

Exactly this. Real men don’t give a shit not only about what other women think but what other men think too.
[–]BlaKkDMon2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Enough men get indoctrinated by society to think masculinity is a bad thing. Real man “don’t give a shit” about what women think but they really should. Women are the ones perpetuating these mindsets in young men but I see now that the last part of your comment is practically the same message.
Edit: misunderstood your last part but keeping this comment unedited.

It's like that Covington High kid, who didn't care about the Indian getting in his face. Such an outright show of amused mastery made every libtard in America flip their shit.
They key to making Western Civilization great again, is for all of us to be like that kid.

If you can't improve at it, it's not a hobby.
Hanging out=Not a hobby
Drinking=Not a hobby
Eating=Not a hobby
Shopping=Not a hobby
Bingeing TV=Not a hobby
Petting Cats=Not a hobby
[–]curiouslyengaged91 points92 points93 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
There's a difference between activity and a hobby. A hobby has a creative component to it. There are artifacts that come out of it. For example knitting is a hobby. Computer programming could be a hobby. Woodworking is a hobby. It's a well defined activity over a long period of time that you either produce something or hone a skill or both. At least that's what I consider a hobby...

Actually a good adventure to do with friends. From where I live, you can get there by road and it's a very enjoyable trip. Pretty harsh, but enjoyable when done with the right people.

[–]skymningwolf21 points22 points23 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, it’s great to go out with the guys etc. I just think hobbies are something you need knowledge or skill in. Like in birdwatching, you usually know some stuff about different types of birds; if you play tuba, skills/talent. I don’t think hobbies have to be super serious though
[–]breadedbinkie2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eating = not a hobby. A physiological need. However, cooking is a hobby when you do it for pleasure.
Drinking = not a hobby. However, if you're into craft beer, tasting is a hobby.
Driving is not a hobby. But karting is a hobby.
What these people don't understand is that hobbies are not simply things you enjoy doing. Hobbies are things that you really invest time and you get an improvement from it. You learn from it. It's more than just "doing stuff".

Would you consider pipe smoking a hobby
As a pipe smoker, I would say no. It’s a nicotine addiction that you indulge in instead of smoking cigarettes (smoking cigarettes [or cigars] is not a hobby).
[+][deleted] 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
[–]boytjie1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
don't have a need for their pipe
Well they’re wrong or pipe smoking dilettantes. I’m a pilot and one of the requirements to hold a license is a medical exam every 2 years (below 40). I smoked cigarettes and always asked the doctor what my chest X-rays or stethoscope investigations revealed (I don’t get sick so this was the only MD I ever saw). Cigarette smoking was affecting my lungs so I took up pipe smoking (much better). I am in the process of giving up pipe smoking and it’s not easy and you certainly can’t give it up just because you “don’t have a need for your pipe”.
[+][deleted] 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
[–]boytjie0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
cigarettes are designed to be addictive
They’re all designed to be addictive in the sense that nicotine is addictive. Cigarettes aren’t more addictive. They’re just more convenient. Cigars are least addictive because you don’t inhale. The nicotine is absorbed by the mucus in the mouth. You cannot compare social drinking to alcoholism.
[+][deleted] 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]boytjie2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Cigarettes have added chemicals that make them more addictive
No they don’t (FFS). The PAPER has chemical additives so that it burns evenly and stays alight without bursting into flame (normal paper doesn’t burn like that). It is not addictive although there are claims that it’s carcinogenic.
most people don't inhale pipes either
Smoking nations do. The US is not a smoking nation.
I don't drink socially
I’m not talking about your drinking habits. I’m talking about your inaccurate analogy where social drinking was linked to alcoholism.

It’s funny because they always say if you wanna attract a girl you need to have hobbies, work out, and pretty much do stuff that makes you have an interesting life. But then girls do absolutely nothing. Makes a lot of sense. They literally just have to exist and boom everything is given to them
[–]cleverbutnotoverlyso38 points39 points40 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
And then some girls want you to give up your hobbies to spend time with them.

[–]Revorob10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That's because to most modern women casual sex, getting drunk, shopping and getting tattoos are hobbies. Few men would consider these to be hobbies. When it comes to worthwhile activities, few women have hobbies.
[–]coolturnipjuice6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I recall the worst question I would ask on dates: what hobbies do you have? They would always fail. They couldn't even properly answer the next question: what's interesting about you?
Yea. Thats pretty funny actually. Me too tho... I always ask people what they do in their spare time. That and talk to them about something that interests them or me. Easiest insight into who someone is. Girls especially always fail these basic social tests. Guys too but it’s been a long time since ive met an interesting girl...
[–]Morphs_29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, it's good to know that women use shaming to control men. Especially when it comes to hobbies. For some reason a woman always tries to shame a man if the hobby doesn't include other people.
[–]Scipio_Amer1canus20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good point! I guess it's because females tend to find validation in their social encounters. Also, if you're doing things with other people then you automatically have some status simply from the fact that others find you acceptable.
Personally, I'd rather my obituary say "accomplished XYZ" than "liked to socialize."
[–]boytjie1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
For some reason a woman always tries to shame a man if the hobby doesn't include other people.
Jordan Peterson claims that men are interested in objects and women in people. This is reflected in men’s domination of engineering and women’s domination of nursing. It’s plausible.
[–]Morphs_2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. That's why boys want to play with toy machines (cars etc) and girls with dolls (mimicking social interactions).
Also, men like to discuss concepts, ideas and philosophy, whereas most women tend to get bored by that quickly and prefer to talk about other people.
But for some reason, "being social" is set as some sort of a norm that must be prevalent in everything a man does. Anything outside that is considered socially unacceptable and is shamed.
[–]boytjie1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But for some reason, "being social" is set as some sort of a norm that must be prevalent in everything a man does.
In all fairness, things can get complicated when introversion and extroversion is taken into account – it affects both sexes. I’m an introvert but so are some women. The ratio in the population is about ¼ introverts to ¾ extroverts (it’s an extrovert world). A TED talk by introvert Susan Cain talks of female introversion.

Yeah I'm in introvert too. So I need my alone time to charge up. Extraverts don't understand this need because they feed off of the energy of others, while introverts supply energy and recharge by themselves. From an energy standpoint, introverts are the givers and extraverts are the takers.

Women have lots of hobbies... tweeting and snapchat (finding new orbiters), photography (selfies), dancing (twerking), going out with friends (fucking Chad), dating (sugar dating), going on vacations (paid for by Twitch fans), spending time at Starbucks (monkey branching to Tyrone)...
[–]Dank_Meems22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Women will always shame what men do, because they will never be happy with themselves.
[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's the reality of low expectations. For women to be successful they simply have to exist, not be a bitch, and not get fat. They get 2 out of 3 things wrong on a consistent basis.
[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Women have no hobbies, they only copy their (ex) boyfriends/husbands.
[–]Placcy12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wow. This. This is the truth.
Then they ruin the hobbies for you.
[–]boytjie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Pyroxthrowaway12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I mean, one hobby I've been enjoying immensly with friends is Dungeons & Dragons, and I doubt I'd find any girl who would even pretend to give it a shot. Too judgemental.
[–]Jeffb9575 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Used to have 3 girls in my D&D group. 2 quit on crazy feminism rants, and the 3rd got too busy with work trying to turn a shitty retail job into an I.T. tech support gig to make it any more. So...66% crazy feminist was the breakdown.

Is shopping considered a hobby?
[–]RevolutionaryPea716 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes, that is another female "hobby". Almost every single woman will proudly proclaim that she loves shopping too. Like... great... you're just like every single other first world woman.

To be fair, though, I don't think a girl has tried to shame me for a hobby since I was like 15.
[–]Ericfyre7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly girls laugh when grown men play video games while they sit on the couch watching Netflix all day. Like we are learning how to increase our skill in a certain game while they are just watching movies and shit.

Attractive women have no hobbies outside of being an attractive woman.
[–]Beeinkc95 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It takes a lot of effort to be attractive. Finding the right make up, applying that make up daily, finding flattering clothes, maintaining the hair, nails, etc.
When you see an attractive woman, what you're really seeing is a carefully crafted illusion. Take away all that fake stuff and you're left with the bad mugshot photo.

My ex was jealous of the time I put into making music. She tried to shame me with it a few times as she felt she wasn't my number one.
At least music gives me energy and brings me joy.
It's been over a year and I still hate the broad.
[–]lamelavalamps5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link
Where are you guys that you see girls with no hobbies? Maybe it's because I'm still in high school but pretty much everyone (including girls) has something that can be considered a hobby.
It changes as they get older mainly past college
[–]Itsbbbitch0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link
All their hobbies revolve around getting praise and applause and attention from guys. Remove the men and she goes back to being an empty husk.

There is no actual evidence the opposite is true either though.
[–]Itsbbbitch0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Um yes there is. Log on to tinder and 9/10 times you will see profiles from women describing their hobbies and interests as eating, sleeping, reading books and traveling (aka whoring around on vacations men pay for)
[–]gigasimpdeluxe0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Are we using Tinder as "actual evidence" now?
[–]Itsbbbitch0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Evidence of what women say on their own accounts when prostituting themselves on the dating market in order to secure a walking wallet? Um, yeah. Maybe you should check what subject matter we are discussing before butting in with your uneducated irrelevant opinions. It doesn't get more real than words out of the whoreses mouth for real live evidence direct fRom the general population.
Are you mad that you no longer get to use vague generalizations that mean nothing to obfuscate facts?
[–]gigasimpdeluxe0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
As opposed to your relevant opinions that you form by reading women's Tinder profiles? Okay buddy. I'm not "mad", it was just a nicer way of saying your argument was shit.
[–]Itsbbbitch0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
My opinions are formed by observational data that you can find from a direct source, that being women themselves. And what are your opinions formed by? Do you have statistics? Quantitative or qualitative evidence?
Oh right of COURSE you don't, because like every other feminist SJW retard, your opinions are formed by absolutely nothing at all since your only arguments are based on idealism, not reality.

There is an age women go through (usually in adolescence but not always) when they’re obsessed with horses. At school it’s often collages, keeping a diary, boy-bands, crushes, etc. Crafty stuff when they’re older but nothing long-term and it’s usually self-obsession in their 20’s.

The only thing my ex was known for, was drinking. Every gift to her from friends/family that wasn't a gift card, was booze or booze related (wine glasses, tank tops about wine, corkscrew). Literally no one could figure out any other kind of gift for her, as she had no identity.

Hobbies are really important for your mental health.
Do not ever give up your hobbies because your partner thinks they are a 'waste of time' (i.e, you are not spending all your time gazing at her).
Do what you feel like doing, and make sure you allocate time for it every day.
My STBX hobbies: spending money, shopping, shoes, dresses, coffee and eating. Yeah..
[–]Revorob1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Couldn't agree more. My hobbies are building/flying model aircraft and video games. Women have often tried to shame me away from these. My response is always, "And what hobbies do you have?" Inevitably, the response is mumbled, semi-coherent drivel. Basically, I don't give a crap what any woman thinks of my hobbies as they are MY hobbies and I get great enjoyment out of them. So long as my hobbies are awesome and women are shit, I know what I will be spending my time and money on.

This could be true, but then you remember that none of you have female friends and that you simply have no idea what women like or are in to. Maybe it’s because no woman ever wanted to get close enough to you to talk about what she likes? I wonder why that would be the case!
