As Terrence Popp says...
ALWAYS recon the mother.
[–]isactuallyspiderman111 points112 points113 points 4 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link
My niece is super skinny, conventionally attractive. Last pic I saw of her (early 20s now) you can see the fat legs coming in. First signs of the transformation into her land-whale of a mother. I see it coming and it's so obvious it's not even funny. Guarantee she'll catch some beta orbiter to pay for her life before she gets too fat or hits the wall.
[–]johlms1232 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
It's funny. I have a cousin that did the opposite. Her mom has always been skinny, but my cousin is bigger.

You’re telling me. I got my dads muscle frame, but his slow metabolism. And uphill battle against the “dad gut”!
[–]PleaseCallMeTomato8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]PleaseCallMeTomato3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
uhm, why does it blow?
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I got a combination of my dads and a grandparents frame but my mothers slow metabolism. So i have the same problem. I still had a bit of a gut even at the peak of my physical fitness (i was in the top 3-4 for physical fitness at my entire school). Although i think my mothers metabolism saved me from getting gallstones. My sister, my dad, my grandma, my great grandfather all have them.
[–]RockKnock110 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wow- at your ENTIRE school?
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. I wasn't the best sprinter but next to no one could keep up at the 5000m or the 10000m in athletics. I swam my 2000m when i was 7 and my 5000 when i was 9 and i did all the challenges up to platinum. I could cycle 50 miles on a sunday morning and leave everyone else in the dust. I would often run, cycle or walk the 3 miles to and from school. Most people couldn't catch me.
Still always had a bit of a gut.
[–]Smitty326692 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Get a divorce that will take care of your gut. It worked for me. I lost 25 pounds in the first 2 months after getting served with papers 2 days before my 50th birthday.

My ex wife’s mother is like 5’1, maybe 110 pounds if her pockets were full of concrete. She’s in her early 60’s and is absolutely gorgeous. Too bad my ex wife took after her father who was 6’4, 280 pounds and is an Illinois college hall of fame linebacker.
I wish I listened... MTV date my mom was right...
[–]kaolin2240 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Weight, maybe.
Looks? Sometimes you can't tell.
During college my friends and I did ecstasy with a bunch of girls and my buddy hooked up with one of the ugliest human beings on the planet. We discussed saving him, but we were all fucked up so we let it happen for a laugh.
He hated us for months afterwards, but we tease him about it to this day. God, he was balls deep in Skeletor and we died laughing when we heard him freak out and caught him trying to sneak out of the apartment.
Anyway, we were friends with this group for a while and we saw a bunch of their parents at birthday parties and BBQ's.
Ugly chick's parents looked normal and the mom was a solid 6. It blew my mind how their daughter nose dived off the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, and then a drunken hobo grabbed the biggest branch and beat her until he couldn't couldn't lift his arms, shat himself, and passed out.

Honestly I can look past the physical degradation sometimes it can be out of their control. But their attitudes and expectations are unreasonably out of the roof after settling down.
[–]PoseidonLordoftheSea46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Their expectations vs physique are inversely correlated. One goes way up while the other goes way down.

This is the root catalyst of MGTOW, no?
[–]gprime2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe, though for many of us it is more a matter of the legal perils and the warped social norms that are issue rather than the conduct of women individually (even when aggregated).
[–]linkwaker101 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'd certainly say so it's a consistent thing that shows up in longer term relationships, unless a person were focused on other aspects of m&f relations discounting the long term relationships && marriage variables causing MGTOW adoption.
I'd say the main one is:
We saw what you did to our fathers and other good men.
[–]Sean-Snow900 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s better to be single and happy then to be miserable with the wrong person. Now I’m just trying to find a middle ground but I’m pretty set on not wanting marriage or kids. I know that’s not a popular mindset with a lot of women but it’s my fuckin life.
I’m bitter but I know what I want in life.

I have noticed over the years that as soon as a woman is married, she changes her hairstyle. It's the same type of change and, if you look at just the hairstyle in the above pic, you'll see what I mean.
[–]muchacho_pl49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Yup, less than 1 year after marriage my wife cut her hair short. Everyone around her, including her mother, is telling it looks bad and makes her look much older than she is. She just doesnt care and hates me whenever i bring this up.
[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because she knows she can go on cruise control on life and can let herself go. Short hair = less maintenance. She will shower less, eat terrible, quit her job, etc.

You can be MGTOW without hating women or never wanting to be in a relationship. It's still a philosophy that helps make the best of that awful situation. I personally prefer dating 3-6 months you get all of the good parts and get to walk away before all the naggy emotional abuse we all talk about here

[–]asuvalskas26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
This is honestly my biggest fucking fear. Its why I'm so "eh" about the whole marraige thing. They definitely can go real psycho and controlling after marraige, but the mentality of "I dont have to care about my apperance anymore" is fucking rediculous. Men can do this too, but its not as common. We're too proud.
[–]fleetwood-pc45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Men definitely let themselves go physically just as much as women - there's the stereotype of the 'dad bod' after all, and most guys go bald or grey. The thing is - women's primary value to a man is sexual/physical appearance, while men's primary value to a woman is how he provides and his status, which isn't dependent on how he looks.
[–]Ahielia9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
In my country it's more often the case that the man will get slimmer (or stay slim) and the woman will get fatter in a relationship/marriage.
I know guys who got rid of some of their fat after entering a relationship, yet the woman pretty much doubled in size. I dunno how the men handle it, I think it's disgusting.
[–]fleetwood-pc6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well they're married, the women have them basically trapped at that point - married to a land whale. They either complain to her and risk friction in the marriage or they get divorced and lose all their shit.
[–]Ahielia1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The sad thing is that many aren't even married before the woman starts expanding rapidly.
[–]asuvalskas3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I appreciate the input. Ive been single for awhile and have never even gotten close to being married.
[–]Haywood_Jablomie422 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Seeing how the CDC shows women have a higher obesity rate than men, no, men don't let themselves go as bad. Most do let themselves go, but not to the extreme that women do.
[–]fleetwood-pc3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I get your point, but that's partly because women just have a higher bf to muscle ratio than men. Also what I was getting at is - looks don't matter as much for men, it's way more about status/money than it is about looks. Women know that looks is what men care about the most - but after the wedding they just let themselves go like this, often don't put any effort at all into their appearance. While men are expected to keep earning more and more to keep them happy.

[–]fleetwood-pc2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Are you reading what I wrote? I’m agreeing with you and then calling women out for other things.
[–]DicamVeritatem0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Anecdotally, I’ve probably seen 3x as many instances of the woman letting herself go and the husband keeping himself fit as the converse.
[–]saikaushal13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men definitely let go more than women do. Beer gut, hairiness, balding (but this is not in their control) etc. Trust me, you are saying this because you've never experienced marriage. But ask any married man, they would prefer degradation in appearance over degradation of attitude and behaviour.
[–]PaddyPervert3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I seen the opposite in a photo of my neighbours, in the 90s he was a handsome man and now he is fat and bald whereas his wife got better looking

[–]TylerWeatherfield6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
In all honesty the woman on the right doesn't look bad at all. She looks healthy and wholesome. Women who don't rely solely on their looks tend to have interesting points of conversations, are less superficial, and more likely to appreciate you as a person (I understand that is a generalization). Girls who reduce their entire worth to something as superficial as their base attraction will subject those around them to similarly trivial assessments. If what they value the most about themselves is trivial beauty then it makes sense that they would rationalize the worth of a man on the capital they can exhort from him. What a person values says everything about them.
[–]ikeeeda6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No idea why you are being downvoted, you’re right. These guys making jokes about looks are just as bad as the girls doing it. The joke however is that most of these comments are totally unironic. I can see why MGTOW gets hate.
[–]TylerWeatherfield5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thanks I appreciate that. I used to talk to other people about MGTOW, now I don't even mention it because I don't really like a lot of the zero sum thinking I come across. I simply talk about the importance of self-actualization and independence when describing my preference for being single and not having a family. I really don't think happiness is found in isolation from the opposite sex even if there are compelling and logical reasons for doing so given the current circumstance.
[–]captnchronic5032 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's exactly how I found my happiness in all honesty. However, I agree with the vast majority of your statement

Sex reduces by half, each time you: move-in, get engaged, get married, and have a kid. So if you're not having sex about 16x a week BEFORE you get married, after kids you're getting none at all
[–]Throwaway17n101 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Even if they stay in shape, sexual attraction fades pretty fast. If regular hot sex is important to you, absolutely don't get married unless your wife is okay with you banging other women.
