It's a long story, but worth a read, lots of wtf moments.
Went to the gym tonight. As I was passing a new couple the woman was staring at me hardcore. After I passed by, I heard her tell her boyfriend "He looks ridiculous.". I ignored it and grabbed a rack.
A little about her: She's overweight with absolutely no curves, egg mode. Probably hasn't washed or brushed her hair in weeks. Legging read "PINK" all over them.
Was warming up on squats, I glance over... she's obviously talking about me to her boyfriend. I finish my set and turn down the volume on my headphones. Listening... I can overhear saying to her boyfriend "you should say something. You need to say something". A little argument ensues between them saying he doesn't want to bother me.
I'm still warming up, approaching about 65% of my 1rm where I'll increase 5% for singles from 60-80%. I focus on tightness and pause them. I'm running 8 sets of 3. Still have my headphones on, can hear her bitching on and on about my hideous form and how I'm going to hurt myself just doing a single squat.
I've been powerlifting for 9 years with no major injuries. I'm running weights that I can absolutely rep for 8-20 reps if I wanted to.
I do my first working set and she comes over, flailing her arms about and rude as shit tells me "you need to take some weight off it's way too much for you". I roll my eyes and tell her "Thank you for your concern, have a good day." And slip my headphones back on. She hesitates, staring at me before storming off mad.
She goes back to her boyfriend yelling "its unbelievable how he just ignored me like that don--- what are you doing? I told you I didn't want to do that exercise Anon." Her boyfriend mutters something I can't make out tail between his legs style. She yells again "Fine, whatever. Lighten the weight you can't lift more than me, I already told you." He complies (what the fuck).
She's over there talking shit the whole time to him, emasculating him word by word, second by second. She says some shit to him like "You should thank me for coming, I would have just been at home eating pizza or something". Jesus christ.
She's been watching me the whole time, I'm resting before set 5. I watch her walk away. I'm racking set 5, when there's her and the front desk guy right walking into the weight room. Front desk guy waves me over, I walk over and say "hello".
Immediately he tells me "You need to control your weights." She's standing there with a shit eating grin. I tell him "I am controlling the weight" he tells me "well I was told you almost lost your balance with it" I start to say something back he cuts me off "take the weight off and collect your things and come talk to me upfront"
I comply and head upfront, he tells me he needs me to sign a form saying why he kicked me from the gym and it's only for tonight, I refuse. I tell him "I've been lifting here for 5 years dude. I explained to him the weight was actually light and I was controlling it. Watch the cameras." He tells me "That wasn't the only issue, you attacked a gym member when she tried to correct you for the safety of yourself and everyone else" (what the fuck?)
I explained to him what happened and how rude and vulgar she has been all night and I said like 5 words to her. He told me she felt threatened and now I'm making up lies about her and I need to leave before he calls the police. I leave without any words.
Going tomorrow morning to talk to the gym owner, I am demanding that the front desk guy be fired for punishing me without investigation and threatening to call the police on polite and calm me. I am demanding that she be kicked from the gym for lying and disturbing other gym members. Plus her vulgar and rude behaviour.
TL;DR Some girl ruins my leg day at the gym for no good reason. Gets me kicked from the gym ultimately. While simultaneously emasculating her boyfriend. There's a price to pay for all of this.

Can confirm. That's what happened to me. I didn't flirt or give enough attention to the hos in my office so they all turned against me and mass reported to HR that I "made them uncomfortable." I know because my friend in the HR department told me about the reports and what his bosses were saying about me.

I was accused of stealing money for a company I worked for. The facts were clear, I could not have stolen it, it was impossible.
What happened? I got booked and got a court date. Tons of police interviews. I had to get an attorney and ended up being found not guilty.
This was after wasting countless hours at the police station, the attorneys office, court. I lost friends, my job(of course) and an arrest record that does not go away even though I was not charged. Also fees on top of all of this.

Lol I don't think I'd even say some shit like that to someone who WAS lifting with shitty form, you never know how these people will react + it isn't my problem. I grabbed a bar a guy was squatting and pushed it back onto the rack once because he was wobbling all over the place with no collars on and his plates were sliding off, he blew up on me for ruining his workout and stormed out of the gym, never bothered since.
I'll give someone a quick tip on form if they're doing something really bad, but that's it. A quick "hey try keeping your heels planted, you're leaning in your toes" and leave it there. They can take or leave the advice.

Realistically, barbells are the only potentially deadly thing in a gym unless you are engaging in behavior that would be unsafe anywhere like throwing heavy objects at people. Which, unfortunately, I've seen at my gym.

Agreed. I used to go to a big corporate gym, but it was such a ratrace shit show. You'd have the tanned old timer gorillas who had massive beer bellies in spaghetti strap muscle shirts and a bunch of yoga pants chicks resting on the machines, and I'd always cut my workouts short because it was so packed.
Now? I go to a gym that is in an old warehouse. It has a ton of free weights, I walk down a sketchy alley and swipe my key card and have 24/7/365 access. Most of the time there's only one or two other men, occasionally a girl, and there's plenty of room to do all the lifts and I don't have to wait for anything. A lot of times, I'm the only one there. All I have to do is flip off the lights when I leave.
And do a charge back on your credit card for the current gym. Fuck them. You don't treat your long term customers like that.
Don't let her nor the front desk guy get away with this. Shit like that is what's wrong with the world when it comes to day-to-day life. I hate it, and it is way to common.

One of the more frustrating things to come across is when someone complains to you to HR or a manager, and that manager will instantly take everything that person says at face value and will just not even attempt to get the other side of the story. In their mind's the are just thinking "Durr... that person complained first so they must be right." So frustrating to deal with that kind of mindset.

Apologies for the tangent, but being a bigger dude myself (husky, rugby-build etc.), I find I attract a lot of unwanted and unwarranted attention from fat chicks wherever I go, but especially the gym... it is as if fat broads feel a gross sense of entitlement to my attention (something about Mike & Molly, idk). I have combated this by camouflaging myself as a fucking clown at the gym. I wear neon socks, feminine colours and ill-fitted attire (often with offensive slogans emblazoned on them). It is working and I largely get left alone now.

Spoke with the gym owner, he's not firing his manager(front desk guy) he was misinformed and was only protecting the business. However, he will be kicking the couple from the gym. He says that not only did she disturb a member and create drama... He doesn't want to see couple's arguing in the gym. He will also be creating guidelines for his staff to handle these situations.
This is a local gym, not a planet fitness. The owner says he has gotten way more bizarre complaints than this. Locker room weirdos take the lead on these.
A lot of advice and what to do in this situation. The best thing you can do is, remain polite and friendly. Comply. Do state your side of the story, but there's no need for harsh wording or becoming aggressive. Becoming angry and upset leads to you making emotionally based decisions and saying/doing things you cannot take back. Last thing you want is, having the police show up and causing a scene.
I live in Tuscon AZ and unfortunately have to deal with cunty women like this all the time. I swear, they are the biggest cunts I have ever seen. Took my little niece for a round of mini golf, we're shooting a hole maybe on our third swing... A group of adult women just started shooting the hole without regard of our existence. We ended just sidelining and reshooting the hole and letting them go ahead.

She clearly isn't living the life she wants to live, so she takes out her frustration on others to increase her internal status counter. She probably got an absolutely massive payout off what she managed to do to you. 2) What Carl Jung would call Animus Possessed. I believe Carl Jung wrote up until a few weeks from his death, which was in his 80s, therefore the volume of his work out there is immense. Anthony Storr provides a fantastic background to some of Jung's most intriguing pieces of work - highly recommend
Jordan Peterson has some good videos (YouTube) about Jung and Archetypes. If you like those, tackle his book, "Maps of Meaning".

Depends where you lift dude, some of our gym's are planet fitness level cucked. I'd get ''noise complaints'' whenever I deadlift, the staff used to constantly harass me about it until I told them one more complaint about my 100% normal deadlifts (I'm not screaming in the rack or anything, just the usual bar banging sound) and I'd find a new place, haven't bothered me since.
Have a friend that unfortunately due to where he lives had to switch to a cuck level gym. He had to give up deadlifts because of the noise complaints. He supplements it with RDLs and looks like he's in that movie A Quiet Place when setting the weight down.
We joke and do fake lunk alarms at our gym...a lot of those guys are DLing over 500 pounds, and some put flex bands over the bar, too.

Planet Fitness doesn't want people in their gyms. It's not set-up for having a large amount of members. They make the price super cheap because most people are lazy and don't cancel small subscriptions. It's a genius money grab really.

I had a similar experience once, just different setting. It was at a supermarket. Bought a coffee machine and on the parking lot I noticed that the lid was missing. So I went back to the store and informed the cashier about it, he called his manager and they just told me to grab a new one. And just come right up to the counter no need to wait in line he just need to scan it quick so the alarm don’t go off. So I head to the electronic section and grab the coffee machine. When I went back to the line it was huge and I just went to the front ( as the manager has Instructed me to do). This loud women begins with the “ excuse me get back in the line etc”. I just glance at her and ignore here, and then she turns to her husband to say something and he awkwardly and annoyed try to avoid talking and she kinda then turns to me and tries to poke my shoulder for attention but I just complete ignore here. She then tells the cashier that I jump the line and he told her that he told me to do so because he just needed to scan the machine so the alarm don’t go off. Still with a given reason she still was nagging not getting her way. This happen to me way before my own unplugging. I did have my beta ways dealing with relationships back then, but one thing I knew was never acknowledge loud women in a public setting. That just drives them more mad. Think if you just had blasted that music in your headphones, and just got into beast mode and ignored her presence you might had a different outcome. Or perhaps not.
In a public setting like a gym, I only acknowledged her out of curious behaviour. You never know if she was trying to get your attention because her boyfriend dropped a weight on himself and is dying. More of a liability thing I worry about.

It's unlikely but not impossible. Gyms don't stay open letting toxic people stay there. This might just be a mix of low pay employees not wanting to deal with shit and a genuinely terrible person needing banned from the location. The big thing is just not getting invested in it and realizing that at the very least someone making this kind of post not asking for advice should really have waited a day to post the results so something if value could be gained from the story

A similar thing happened to me in my condo gym years ago. I was benching 1 plate per side, no clamps (I only use when necessary, and I'll determine that). This older out of shape woman older comes over in the middle of my set and tells me I have to put clamps on. It was in the January-February time frame when all the slobs do their yearly pilgrimage to the gym as part of their "new year, new me" bullshit. I just laughed at her and told her to mind her own business. It was satisfying.
Actually, it's much safer to bench press without clamps on. Especially if you don't have a spotter. All you gotta do is dump the weight to one side if you get trapped.

It happened to me a few years ago. I was at this music event and there were a set amount of deck chairs of which I was sitting in one.
She came over initially very polite and started talking to me as if she was interested, I knew what her game was before she even started walking towards me.
And then it happened, she asked if she could have my seat so she could sit with her friends. i politely said not a chance.
She kept badgering me about it and it was really getting on my nerves and after the fourth or so time she was becoming insistent I give her the chair.
At that point, I calmly said to here that she could go and fuck herself & I would give my chair to any other person before I would give it to her & now even if I do not want to sit on it anymore, I am going to sit on it just so she cannot have it.
She stormed off and 10 mins later comes back with security guards saying that I tried to sell her drugs. Security guards did not want to hear my story & I told them the only reason was she wanted the seat.
They didnt care and as I left the venue there were 3 cops waiting for me and the searched my pockets etc.
I explained it to them and they said it doesnt matter you are not allowed back in for 24 hours.
It makes me pretty angry & I would be much more pissed off in your circumstances if you have been going to that gym for a long time because it becomes like a second home and you get to know people really well. I am surprised the front desk sided with her.

I had to change my workout to an all dumbbell workout, but lifting is lifting, it was possible to do.
I've already paid for the weights 3x over in missed gym fees. The whole thing fits in a closet in a 1 bedroom San Francisco apartment. One of the smartest purchases I've ever made.
You should ask the Gym Instructor to follow you over to the power rake, assessed you technique, ask for some tips (probably not needed) and he would have seen your sweet lifts and probably left you alone. I'm going to same gym for almost 2 years, but never spoke to front desk after signup because I don't need to. Just nod to them on my way out. At large corporate gyms there's a big turnover and unless you're very social you won't know front-desk guys personally. Also, I'm in Seattle where everybody pretends they don't know each other and tries to deny existence of other people.

Did you not ask the front desk guy to check your form and offer advice? Defuses the situation, gets him on your side, or he just fobs you off and you go complain the next day that the staff refused to help correct dangerous form.
