Libertarian socialists argue that concentrated corporate power is just as antithetical to freedom as concentrated state power. All such institutions must perpetually justify themselves or be dismantled.

TIL I'm more of a European libertarian. I'm radically supportive of the free market, but only for living and breathing, flesh-and-blood, human beings. I've come to view corporations as just another form of government interference in the marketplace. Corporations only exist so long as there is a state nearby that says: "write these words down in a certain way and, voila! A corporation is born!"
It's called a contract. People make those all the time, a corporation is simply a large group of people who have all agreed to work together toward the same goal.
Now someone at some point in time decided that there should be a separate entity called "corporation" and we can tax that too, which is like taxing every single person at that corporation an extra 12.5% on top of the other taxes they already pay.
So no, as far the political/legal entity called corporation goes, that should go away.

I still fail to see what this has to do with socialism. You sound like a free market capitalist who is weary of overly-concentrated power and wealth, a problem many mainstream conservatives are starting to wake up to now that they see the powerful tech monopolies starting to use their power against them. Socialism means redistributing wealth and/or government control of the means of production.
This is probably because today we usually conceive of capitalism as a fact of nature rather than a creation of the state. The libertarian socialist response would be that modern capitalism is only possible due to the enforcement of state power on behalf of the capitalist against the working class. This manifests in protection of private capital, oppression of labor movements, bailouts for the capitalists when capitalism fails (as during a crash), etc.
To me, anarcho-capitalism is simply nonsensical because of the degree to which capitalism depends on the state. I like the values of American libertarianism, but I don't see how it ends in anything other than a corporatocracy enforced by a police state. This leaves me skeptical of all forms of concentrated power, including private power. It seems to me the most "natural" society is one where the means of production are commonly owned and operated for the benefit of the community, and I think the anthropological evidence bears this out. Of course, this is only possible if both the state and private power are rolled back.
Someone doesn't understand capitalism. There is no "capitalist" class. Every single person in a capitalist country is a capitalist. They may not be very successful ones, but they are still capitalists. And free association does indeed lead to corporations. Corporations are voluntary agreements between many different parties to work for the benefit of the corporation and their own pocketbooks. The problems come when established corporations see competition and seek to squash that competition through backdoor deals with politicians to make starting up a new business nearly impossible through impossible licensing restrictions (1 million dollar taxi medallions for example, and other burdensome regulation that the established corporations have the money to deal with, or they are simply excluded from those requirements (IE GE paying no taxes).
The solution then, is to find the asshats who are doing this shit, and throw their sorry asses into prison, and not no white collar prison, throw em right in there with the rapists and murderers.
But dickheads like Bernie Sanders think the solution is to go with the Nuclear option, take all the wealth and redistribute it, and fuck over millions of families who had nothing to with the corporate/political corruption, but will certainly feel it hard in their wallets.
Because socialism doesn't just fuck the rich, it fucks the middle class too. Everyone is equal under socialism, equally poor, and equally ready to put a bullet in their skull.
The distinction I’m drawing is between owners of capital (equity holders) and the working class (wage earners). I have to agree with OP here. Libertarianism is on a wide political spectrum, and unfortunately today many think politics and ideas are based around the parties themselves. This is horrifically wrong. I'd call myself a moderate Libertarian: my views encompass ideas from people like Sanders as well as Reagan. Not gonna elaborate because that would take forever, but reducing debt through devolution and reapplying it to better areas (such as equal education opportunity) is my ideal.
