The Kinsey Institute’s 2010 National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior provides us with some statistics on the sexual frequency of men and women:

Only 2% of single men between the ages of 18 and 24 had sex 4 or more times per week, but 21% of married men did.

About 5% of single women between the ages of 18 and 24 had sex 4 or more times per week, but 24% of married women did.

This is very interesting since it means that 250% more single women are having sex than single men.

Let’s put this in perspective.

If there are 500,000 single men and 500,000 single women in a given city, and 5% of single women vs 2% of single men had sex 4 times per week, then it means that:

0.05 x 500,000 = 25,000 single women are having sex

0.02 x 500,000 = only 10,000 single men are having sex

This means that 25,000 women are sharing 10,000 men. In other words, a de facto harem exists in the casual sex market.

Also note that the married women are having more sex than married men (24% vs 21% respectively)

How is it possible that married women are having more sex than married men?

I will leave it up to the commenters to decide. Discuss
