The sex gap in male and female is the highest it's been since 1992, but the difference seems to be only ~5%, so it's not a crazy big gap. The only difference was that in 1992 men were having more sex and in 2018 women are having more sex. Doubt very much it's OLD because these kids are highschoolers. Um, the 40% statistic said "people" and did not specify by gender--that they are "incels" is something you made up (the article specifically addresses lower libidos, people more frequently ID'ing as ace or ace-spectrum, and waning interest in causal sex).

And this almost certainly has nothing to do with OLD, given that prostitution is legal and accessible in Australia--if these men just wanted sex, they could pay for it.

It's interesting that, for the article's focus on non-straight sexualities, you ignore some pretty obvious possibilities for who young Australian women are having sex with.....

Even if it's true, does anyone really expect women to care? It's not like they're going to say "oh this is terrible. Lets start fixing this by having sex with more men." Women are only having sex with who they want and if that just happens to be a select minority of men, then that's who will be getting the sex. The only way to remedy the sexlessness epidemic is to "encourage" women to choose other men by limiting their options artificially through control. Otherwise, the trend will continue, and whatever happens as a result of that will be what happens.

Read an article not too long ago that stated that women are in the workforce in record numbers (not a bad thing) and that means that they often look for men with a higher status than themselves. This leads to sexlessness in the young professional demographic because most guys don’t have a social and economic status beyond most of the dating pool. So it’s not our fault we all have flings, or find it difficult to hook up. It’s that society is shifting and women want a level of security that the majority of us cannot provide for them.

Yea it’s sad. And women don’t even really have to workout, just be slim. Exercising can sculpt their body some more, but just being thin alone gives them most of the attractiveness boost. Whereas if a guy is just thin and never works out, he will have thin arms and still be considered unattractive.

This isn't really surprising. I know alot of sexless young guys out there. I noticed that bars and clubs are becoming much meatier too. It's at least 65% dudes now. I basically never go out to bars/clubs and I've gotten more pussy than most of my friends who do.

I feel like young people in that age range today are more conservative and straight-laced then when I was in that age range.

However, when I was in the age range, I was able to move out of home and support myself on a minimum wage job working only a couple of days a week while studying.

There's slim chance of young people having those opportunities today. Rising costs in living and the roll back in protections for workers has seen to that. The lack in life opportunity in general can be directly tied to the lack of sex. It's not hot to fuck where your parents can hear.

I honestly think lifestyle changes in culture is affecting people’s sex drive too. We eat fast easily accessible junk food that creates high inflammatory response in the body, long term that creates a numbing of physical sensations and dulling of our impulses and feelings. I would attribute it to factors other than OLD.

-The economic reality is that to be wife material, women are expected to be good providers too. This takes time. Sure a woman can date MUCH older and uglier and circumvent that, trading her youth for his resources, but he will either be much less attractive than what she can get by working hard, or a lifelong plate spinner and player that will burn her. People also live at home longer due to the increasing economic difficulties, and they don't go out as much because of video games and laziness. All these things contribute to less sex.

- Women date older and men date younger. Before you blame women for this. Men often dump their girlfriends after establishing themselves and set up shop with an 'upgrade'. They don't have options, find a starter girlfriend, then realize they missed out and want to play the field as soon as they can, then settle for a wife when they have gotten that out of their systems. Women are better off dating older for this reason. Men complain women wait at the finish line and try to tie down the winners, but it's because men do this quite often too. With men like ninja and pewdiepie who kept the same women around, look at those women. They were 9's to begin with, and younger. Those men are also introverted/nerdy.

As for online dating, it's a toxic wasteland. Most men just want to get laid, women tend not to stick around long. You can only read a cheesy, objectifying pickup line so many times before you rage quit.

Personally, I’ve found that in general at least in the major two Australian cities, majority women have a “qualifier” to hook up or date them. This is something like known social indicator. This can come in the form of;

Physically intangible but digitally verifiable social measures (social media feedback, likes, comments followers)
General size of social circle (whether friends or just acquaintances) and placing in that circle, as in leadership role, follower etc.
precious social history (considering past social miscues, lack of confidence, not popular in high school university)

In American towns and cities, attracting half decent girls is more simple. You see a focus on guys being forthright and upfront. Projecting confidence is key, regardless of how your external social situation is. Obviously looks and financial status is a factor but those in my opinion with hard work are fairly achievable or at least fake able, for example staying fit and grooming, staying frugal.

Australian city girls have this thing where they look at males with no personal sexual interest as almost childlike. Many girls seem approachable and friendly initially, however you see the types of men they go for are possessing almost all the above social qualifiers. Funnily enough, it’s like some girls try to use their boyfriends or hookups as a way to emasculate other men, implying that the others are not “manly”enough or valuable for their time and affection.
