Just found this sub. Just wanted to say well done on applying this level of scientific scrutiny essentially to determine exactly how sad ugly or short men should be. Whatever else people say about incels or whatever, the science seems to be on your (their?) side.

Also wanted to say that’s a good point, most peoples basic perceptions about themselves and the world are obscured under several layers self-serving biases, even to the point where reality is sort of less relevant than perception.

For example, a woman who finds herself with an ugly man might believe him to be more attractive than he is, and rate him as higher as a result, because the realization of being with an ugly man might hurt her own self-esteem. Her bias can even engender genuine attraction. The ugly man in turn, believes himself to be more attractive than he is. Operating under this shared delusion, the couple conceive a child and ugly people survive another generation.

In fact I’d go as far as saying all love is a form of shared delusion. You look at your partner and see their best characteristics. Your affection makes them more attractive.

This is referred to as cope. Given that society is fluid, tragedy and etc happens, and most of all the VAST majority of both men and women are UGLY, setting yourself up no NOT capitalize on anything that's above the norm would be maladaptive. Yes, there are truly beautiful women, but be honest, how many of them do you see on a daily basis in the flesh? And I'm including the local pools or even saunas. If this seems far fetched, let's take world war 2, specifically the time starting 6 months prior to December 11, 1941. An almost perfect pyramid of mating exists, although the Navy, armaments factories, shipyards, automotive plants, canned food production, and some highly technical professions are already running at wartime efficiency.

Come December 12th, however, all bets are off. Come 1943, the war economy runs at capacity or higher, and unless you're not involved in the war economy, you have very little time off, working 7 days a week. Now tell me why a man who is able to chase women in this SMP shouldn't be irrationally confident in a SMP where he is the scarce resource. 100 to one is a great number.

The correlation between competence and attractiveness is at best tenuous, the preposterous idea that the past 250 years have made a dent in the human psyche is ripe for the slaughter. If a man could feed himself, he was competent. If a man could hunt well, he was well over a hundredfold more likely to die compared to the farmer. Who's competent now, the land-bound farmer or the risk-taking hunter? Yes, we spent more evolutionary time living in hunter-gatherer societies, but guess what, these vanished almost overnight. Overall, the modern technological juggernaut produces new new new tech all the time, and there's no way anyone should ever attempt mastery of the present, when it's already out of date if not completely obsolete. Yet, the person who focuses on timeless items (and hence be seen as incompetent) does best over time.

Nah, most studies show that women tend to rate themselves accurately to how people rate them rather than men HOWEVER there is one problem with that which is that women and men rate eachother very differently. People often say that men overestimate their attractiveness but the case could be made that women largely underestimate the mans attractiveness, If every 5/10 normie rated themselves a 5/10 then it'd still be counted as overestimating their attractiveness as women rate your average normie as like a 2/10.

I would be leniant to these studies if it was proven in the studies that women and men rated eachother similarly on a bell curve but even some of them acknowladge that women overall are rated better looking compared to men.

Not to mention theres a case to be made that its simply harder for men to put blame on looks as if they acknowladge that they're bad looking then it could be used as a potentional reason for why they're unsuccessful with dating, most men are inherently bluepilled.

Edit: Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that men who overrate themselves also tend to rate people much higher than average in general.

You are right, i didnt think about that. But dunning kruger still doesnt apply. Dunning kruger is incompetent people overestimating themselves and competent people underestimating themselves. This is because incopetent people dont know how dumb they are. Smart people have enough knowledge to recognize that theres still so much they dont know, where as dumb people think they know it all because theyre unaware of how much more knowledge there is that they dont have.

Dunning kruger doesnt apply to looks, theres no reason it would. The reason that dunning kruger is a thing is cause dumb people are too dumb to realize how dumb they are and smart people are smart enough to acknowledge theres still a lot they dont know.

That doesnt work for looks. Do you think attractive people rate themselves as average or ugly? Because that would have to be true if dunning kruger applied to looks.
