Right. Here is the thing.

I am a person who does cold approaches at that mall. I have done so since 2008, and stopped going all out at it in 2011. Every now and then I'll be in the area doing a bit of shopping, and I'll get the urge to do some more approaches.

Toronto has a few places in it's city where there is enough people to do day game approaches that will actually result in having sex. This mall is one of those places. It's in a great area, has intensely high traffic, and if you're down for public sex there's all sorts of places from the "secret" corridors where teenagers drink their booze, to the hotels and campuses around the area.

When I started there would be around 2-5 PUAs in the mall at any given time, and they'd be running game semi-discreetly along with about 4-8 black dudes running their own game and selling dope by the Dundas and Yonge entrance.

As time progressed, the Mall became the go-to meet-up spot for young pick-up artists. I take some responsibility for this as I ran semi-informal bootcamps to help people overcome their AA. Those people then "cured" of AA made sure to inform all the other PUAs in training about it.

It was as though EVERY PUA in Toronto made the Eaton's Centre the go-to place for practicing game. Including the less savoury PUAs, ala Dimitri the Lover and his students.

Somewhere around 2010-2012, the mall started to hit a critical capacity. An influx of new, and often young (14-20 year olds) dudes would suddenly be running game in the mall.'' Suddenly instead of a few dudes running game, it was like 20-30 dudes in the mall running game. The dudes would catch us running sets and be all, "OMG! GAME SHOW ME HOW!!!!" and follow us around.

It became impossible to actually do pick-up in the mall at this point, as any girl walking in the mall would get hit on by 2-3 other dudes before you'd even get a chance to say a word.

It was also totally awesome when the dudes who were following you around would steal your lines, so when you'd be talking to a girl and telling her something, she'd say, "oh wow, someone else in the mall just said that same thing to me! do you guys know each other!?!"

So essentially, YES. This was going to happen eventually.

This mall was the place where newbie PUAs went to practice. It was also where a lot of really terrible PUAs went to pick-up. An unfortunate fact of trying to converse with strangers is that sometimes you'll come across as creepy, no matter how good you are.

Incidentally, the mall security has a wall with the pictures of the PUAs they've kicked out of the mall. The mall has known about it for quite some time.

It's pretty sad how just simply approaching women is being labelled as harassment. I hear no mention of them getting too pushy yet people want to get security involved. I guess the better way to do this would be to make it seem more natural and not use the same canned lines for every girl. With the right frame and execution it will be taken positively.

PUA have a script they use on every woman - so right from the start the message they are communicating "I do not see you as a person", just a receptacle for their verbal diarreah..... every woman has either been the victim of, or knows/witnessed, a man physically or verbally flipping out because the man was "rejected", almost all women in public are cautious of being overtly rude to strange men. It doesn't feel nice to politely decline a gentleman's offer "to suck your pussy raw, bay-beee" and then have him follow you down the street screaming to everyone that you are a whore. - ?

They should talk to me like a regular fucking human being in a situation where it's appropriate to do so. .. as a young looking and rather small girl, I am already a victim of way too fucking much of that.

And every approach makes some woman uncomfortable. Why are they just seen as springboards to this guy's improvement, rather than as people with their own feelings?

We are three dimensional human beings with thoughts and opinions.

So are the guys doing this. And some of them will end up developing their personalities out of it, and others won't, possibly because some girls will be flattered by the attention and both sides will get what they want out of it. But to me the most striking thing is the number of attempts to shame this behaviour. A group of guys who are going out there with the intent of improving their lives. They may be bad at it, but at least they're trying.

While the PUA mentality is fucked, painting every man that doesn't sit back wait for women to approach them as a pathetic non-man trawler is insane and I have no idea how you're being upvoted.

Practicing cold approaches helps get over the anxiety of talking to women, a problem these guys clearly have. Have some empathy.

I get the feeling that everyone who is so "disgusted" by the PUAs are really just jumping on the opportunity to kick people when they are down. It reminds me of the rich who condemn the poor. "Those filthy poor people who live on the street. Ugh. Why don't they just get a job already?!" They don't have a job because they never acquired the skills to get a job, so they are forced onto the street, and they are filthy because they have no place to live to get cleaned up, so people judge they harshly even though they may be a victim of circumstance. The idea that people would be condemned for attempting to improve their social skills I find disgusting. These people who turn to the PUA communities have a social skills deficit, because they were considered undesirable at a younger age, or had a bad home life. Who are you to try to keep them down when they are attempting to self improve? I know exactly what it's like to have approach anxiety. I'm 33 years old and have only had 2 girlfriends in my life. The thought of approaching women in public to have a conversation is terrifying to me.

Haha. Toronto is notorious for this type of shit because there is such a tiny group of places that have a high concentration of hot, feminine women. And it's the birthplace of most of the famous PUAs who went on to move to LA - the shitty, feminist toronto environment gave them the psychological fuel to become good at this PUA stuff.

This being said, PUAers are ALWAYS shooting themselves in the foot. When they find a good venue, they essentially brigade it until they have turned it into a sausage fest, then leave. So I don't necessarily blame mall security for shaming these guys with their "wall of PUAs" or whatnot, because the gameless PUAs do tend to fixate upon a single zone until all of the women are gone. Even in LA clubs, the city of hot women, I observed this happening. Diversify yo shit, man. What does it say about you that you can only approach with 50 bros nearby and in a spot that has already been peer-approved for approaching? And if you have resolved to do some PU, why would you choose to go PU at the spot where you know 500 other dudes are going to be there also saying shit from the same e-book you read?

Men have been socialized incorrectly and realize that the white knight/friend methods that they are using are not turning into sex with girlfriends.
