All discussion on gender identity aside, if some random guy smacked my child in the head, he'd be leaving the store with a fucking broken jaw.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 16 points17 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

The woman's story turned out to be a hoax, but as I've been seeing more single mothers in the market lately, I can't help but agree with this author's conclusion on it. The story itself is irrelevant, only to paint the picture.

I'm always reminded of this south park episode when things like this happen:

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (20 children) | Copy Link

Seriously? The kid can barely formulate sentences let alone make fashion choices. Why the fuck does it matter if he wears a pink headband or not? Its not like he's going to "catch the gay" from wearing his mother's headband.

This article is so fucking homophobic its disgusting. Should male children be taught about what it takes to be a man? Of course. Should they be scolded for doing some that adults perceive as feminist? Fuck no. It's why they call it innocence. Let the child have his fun, if his mother begins forcing him to adhere to her views THEN it's an issue. Judging from the (admittedly fake) story he just wanted to wear a headband and a stranger decided to knock it off his head. Wouldn't you be pissed if Walmart Man forced your kid to do something?

This subreddit can be such a dichotomy. One minute I'm getting some of the best advice I've ever had on becoming a man and the next there's a bunch of ignorant articles being posted and worse, praised.

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan 16 points17 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I think you are right. I also don't think there is a shortage of people who as little kids did stuff like that. Hell I remember playing dolls with my sister when we were like 4-5 years old. It didn't turn me gay.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The real issue with the story is the mother is a lying cunt that made it up to encourage people to support her bullshit genderless worldview .

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 11 points12 points  (6 children) | Copy Link

But that's just it- it's not homophobic, it's saying quite simply: If you don't give your child guidelines early in life, you are doing them a disservice.

Is there anything wrong with gay people? no.

Is there anything wron with a full grown man wearing women's clothes? No, so long as he understands most hetero women are going to think he's a creep and avoid him like the plague.

The point is simple: Teaching gender roles to children, (not bashing them over the head with them, but teaching) helps them grow into successful sexual adults.

It's this acceptance culture that also allows for fat children, because who are we to say Timmy shouldn't eat cookies. I mean, if he likes them, he should be allowed to, right?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes, guidelines are important. But ones that force a particular gender identity upon them will only lead to problems down the road.

As the child of a single mother, this baby boy needs a masculine figure in his life so he understands that there are two sides to everything. Just as he should have the option have playing with dolls, he should have the option to go fishing and spend time with his father for an understanding of masculine identity. It's part of parenthood, raising your children so that they can make the best choices in life, not necessarily the one's that you would've made.

You're also oversimplifying the acceptance culture. Being overweight (mostly a choice with the exception of diseases) and being gay (mainly not a choice) are two completely different concepts.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

gender identity? if you are born male you are male, your identity is one of a man. howeverf you can chose what kind of man you are.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

But ones that force a particular gender identity upon them will only lead to problems down the road.

I think that's exactly the problem and part of the point this article is trying to make. No one thinks this kid is going to "catch the gay" as you put it just from wearing the headband. That's absurd. But do you really think his emasculation as a child is going to just end with that handband? Likely this single mother will continue trying to force this kid into a feminine identity till the day he dies. He wants to play a rough sport? Sorry, not safe enough. He needs advice on women? "Be a nice guy gentleman!". Etc, etc.

Like you said, this kid needs a masculine figure in his life. Regardless of whether or not you think he's an asshole, Walmart Guy was acting as that figure.

[–]SuperNinKenDo 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The only emasculating thing this kid (technically didn't) suffer was getting knocked around the head.

[–]YessingtoHard 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Why is this getting downvoted? Its a valid point.

That's kind of the point. Polarity. Having strong opinions. If you get a bunch of men together there will be DISAGREEMENTS. Men aren't afraid to disagree. They are comfortable with adversity. They even enjoy it. And from your response it looks like you fit right in.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't mind when people disagree with posts I make, it sparks discussion.

I think there's an important discussion here, what gender roles should we teach our sons?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 10 points11 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

See and this is where I think you missed the point of the article in it's entirety.

It's crass hyperbole.

It said two things to me that made me post it:

1. Single mothers (and perhaps single fathers) can have an adverse effect on children's gender role understanding and growth (and identity) in relation to future success with mates.

2. Despite the cultural movement to let children do anything they want, even if it's abso-fucking-lutely retarded, we should perhaps pay attention to teaching our kids proper gender roles to ensure future success with mates.

3. Don't assume all boys are gay and treat them as such. Give boys strong masculine role models, and let them decide to emulate mom later if they want.

When it comes to upbringing, there obviously needs to be a balance between discipline and freedom, but the current climate is basically pro-cookies. Timmy wants a cookie? He should get one because hearing "no" hurts his ego.

That's what this damn fucking article is about, not about homophobia, not about child abuse and actually calling them faggots, not about telling other people their children are faggots, not about any of that.

I'm so lost, I thought I was on the red pill, where people can get the idea of an article without taking each point literally.

We expect TRP men to understand hyperbole and to have basic reading comprehension. We also expect not to remind people of this on a regular basis.

[–]Dokubi -1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't suggest you were uncomfortable with the disagreement. I was only saying you were in disagreement, and that's OK and to be expected sometimes. In any public forum there will always be some people posting shit that taints the overall message, according to SOMEONE. Because people like to have a general idea of what the Red Pill message IS, and then anything that taints this message is seen as unwelcome. This kind of phenomenon is unavoidable. Such is the nature of things. But a few anomalies doesn't prevent someone from enjoying the overall picture.

Basically the message I'm trying to convey is it's OK to be upset with someone's opinion, but it's fruitless to expect you can "prune out" all the ideas you don't agree with in a public forum in order to create a perfect overall message that you agree with 100%. You'll have to eat some bad apples once in a while if you want to eat apples. (I like fruit metaphors).

[–]1favours_of_the_moon 5 points6 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

You know what? Maybe the kid REALLY IS GAY.

It's important not to be taken advantage of. Beta type dudes are taken advantage of and rationalize it that they are just extra praiseworthy. Women constantly lie to us and try to take advantage of us.

So yeah, it's important not to fall into that trap.

But that's entirely different from being a flaming queen. Maybe that's what the kid is. Don't get down on children dude. When he gets older, we can see where he's at. If he's having a problem, we can serve as mentors.

But you're not gonna do that by getting down on him or calling him a "faggot." That's messed up dude.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

You obviously missed the point if you think the point of the article was to call children faggots.

Hello, literal police? Somebody can't derive meaning from context!

[–]Guicy 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, you missed the point completely. Please re-read ENTIRE article, not just the headline before attempting to make a point.

[–]drewbaccha 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Generally I think the idea is to guide your child according to their proper gender role until the child is cognizant of their sexual identity.

Failing to follow this principle can lead a child to a lifetime of confusion and misery.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (11 children) | Copy Link

Just yesterday I saw a 3 yr old boy with girls hair clips. I told his dad that his kid is fucked if he lets him confuse himself in this way. Dad shrugged, smiled and gave an excuse. The girl I was with (totally rp but too old for me) said the same thing to the dad and then he got quiet. Man I wish she was younger.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Seriously dude? Out of all the things that could fuck up a 3 year old, you felt the need to warn the dad about hair clips? This is completely normal behavior for a 3 year old. The only thing that's going to fuck up that 3 year old, is hearing adults telling his dad that he's going to be fucked up.

When boys are little, they drink through straws, something which is seen as feminising in a fully grown man. Should little boys be reprimanded for drinking through straws? Fucking stupid article. You know how I learnt that drinking through a straw wasn't manly? When I was about 12, I noticed that none of the masculine men around me drank through straws, so when I got my soda at the pub, I took the straw out and drank it like the men were drinking their beer.

To really "masculinise" a man means to lead by example, to SHOW them the masculine thing to do. Kids are intelligent, and most heterosexual boys (and most homosexual boys too I imagine) want to be men. If they see that the male figures around them behave in a certain way, they'll copy this behaviour, for better or worse.

Good article.

This is pretty RP. The fact is the world works in a certain way whether we like it our not. Wanting the world to work in a different way does not make it so. Gender roles are not social constructs, they are hardwired into how we think and behave. For better or worse, cultural themes have been created around the underlying biology. To not prepare children to be best prepared for these themes is criminal. At the very least, they should be made to wait until they are old enough to understand what they are getting themselves into.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
