I come from England, and I've met one single person (a black guy, ironically) that didn't hate trump. Everyone else says he's this and he's that without ANY reason for their critisism. Jeremy Corbyn (leader of our prominent left wing political party) called the wall that's going to be built outrageous, as if doing your best to keep out illegal migrants is outrageous. I think it's bizarre that no one thinks the mans an idiot for criticizing a nations commitment to controlling their borders, the very thing that make them a nation in the first place.

[–]redditatt36 points37 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

USA doesn't have a Trump problem, we have a political system problem. It runs far deeper than one man. (I'm American)

[–]BoobsBrah54 points55 points  (9 children) | Copy Link

The people I know are so toxicated by the media and dont even bother to check the actual fact thus hating on him for dumb reasons like "he hates black people / women " etc

[–]WillWorkForLTC19 points20 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

Or that he hates gays.

The LGBTQ community is very vocally behind Trump and Trump pledged to keep them safe from hate crimes and attacks.

Trump just did a 60 minutes interview where he says gay marriage is a done issue. That "the courts" already decided it.

Here is an article: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/gop-president-elect-donald-trump-sex-marriage-settled/story?id=43513067&cid=abcn_fb

But I guess none of this fits the Clinton News Network's narrative, so Trump must be a bigot.

Couple all this with the fact that Mike Pence is the stereotypical Bible belt Republican, it makes you think that Trump just played the left and the right, and now he's going to move forward without this identity politics BS controlling his policy.

There's nothing more RP than working the system.

google "stephen bannon."

trump just appointed him chief policy advisor. people have reason to be upset, mad, scared, etc.

it's a 4 yr job not 8 yrs... civics class is over there. both trump & america will regret things soon since he's pissing off both sides with his actions so far.

[–]purduered1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Its pretty sickeing how easily people can be manipulated by just telling them whatever you want as fact. To be fair there is huge groupthink on both sides of this election and its insane how divided American has become under the Obama adminstration. If i had a $ for erverytime i heard someone was racist, sexist, or a bigot, I'd be retired chillin on a beach somewhere.

ive said it before . Ill say it again, take a good long look and you will see why trump doesnt look quite so crazy by comparison

[–]omega_dawg938 points9 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

i'm an American... from the deep south.

trump is pissing off everybody at the moment. he said, "i will repeal and replace Obamacare," and since winning has said that he will NOT repeal it. next, he says he's keeping Prez Obama's Iran deal in-place as well. so my friends who vote GOP are pissed-da-fuck off.

then, today, it's announced that trump will appoint Stephen Bannon, a white nationalist, as his chief policy advisor. from the article: "The appointment represents an infiltration of white supremacism into the highest levels of government that has not been seen since the pre-civil rights era."

so right now, everybody has or will have a reason to hate trump soon. dude is all over the place.

[–]multipl3x1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I do not understand why people have a problem with him keeping the provisions of Obamacare that work. I mean, same thing with "the wall." I seriously wonder if anyone truly thought he was going to build this gigantic 20 foot tall concrete wall with automatic turrets and guard towers from A-B. I took that to mean more of "we are going to secure the goddamn border." Whether it is by a fence, or a wall, or whatever, we are going to close the gaping holes.

I full well recognize that campaign promises and what can actually be accomplished are truly two different things.

As far as Stephen Bannon goes I don't really have an opinion on that yet. This is the first I have heard of the guy. What I do know is we were given two bowls of shit to choose from and I would personally choose nationalism over globalism at this point.

[–]ShallITinder24 points25 points  (8 children) | Copy Link

Just like with the Brexit in Europe, I think that we are getting to a point where westerners are just fed up. Europeans live in fear of the refugee crisis and have seen first hand how being overly nice to people from hostile foreign cultures hasn't worked out too well for them. The economy has been horrible, job stability is no longer a thing, and people in first world countries like the USA are having to compete for the same jobs with foreigners who will do them for much less (this applies to blue collar work as well as work like IT).

At some point in the early 2000s, we were at a stage where people could afford to be politically correct and understanding. When the economy was great and there was hardly as much of a struggle going on, people could afford to be nice and charitable. Some point after that, as the economy tanked and westerners saw what bringing in immigrants and refugee that have not been properly vetted can do to their society, they slowly started to wake up. Many were afraid to speak out because of political correctness but as the years went by, you saw a rise in right wing ideas.

I supported Trump this election but at the same time, I do fear for the future, especially in regards to race relations. Now I am a guy of a minority group and I live in the USA so not exactly a foreigner but I do hear it from European friends as well. Right wing ideals are being slowly accepted but I hope we don't get to a point of full out tribalism of the races.

What really did it was the radical left, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. When you give that much power to a bunch of sheltered people with a hero complex, it really pushes normal people over the edge. No one wants to be told about tolerance and diversity by an upper middle class liberal that grew up in an 80%+ white area of town. The radical left consisting of SJWs, feminazis, and politically correct crowd is what really did it for most people; they gave liberalism a bad name and made people run to the right wing.

[–]Senior EndorsedVasiliyZaitzev12 points13 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

When you give that much power to a bunch of sheltered people with a hero complex, it really pushes normal people over the edge.

Big time. I'm not on Twitter, but from what I understand, Twitter is what happens when you give the "weird kids" the power; they turn into asshats, too.

No one wants to be told about tolerance and diversity by an upper middle class liberal that grew up in an 80%+ white area of town.

Fuckin' tell me about it. And most of them are closet racists or just plain afraid of blacks or whatever. I was an athlete at university. I have showered with more black guys than the snowflakes I know can say they know, socially.

They want to stay under the bubble, tell everyone how "good" they are and force Other People to live with the consequences of the policies they want to implement.

[–]ShallITinder5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I have showered with more black guys than the snowflakes I know can say they know, socially.

Wow, TIL......

[–]WillWorkForLTC1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. Furthermore, virtue signaling signals no virtue. The neo-liberals focus on divisional politics. Race isn't a "thing", and if it is an important "thing" to them, then that makes them racist AF.

[–]TRP_TEX 2 points2 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Yep. It's just a social construct.

PBS did an hour long documentary on this that's pretty good.

It's crazy but a white man and a black man can have more genetic similarities than two white men from the same part of europe.

[–]ItsTheHomeWrecker1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

deleted What is this?

[–]parkthebus11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The younger generation of right wingers are probably a lot closer to the center than the left I would say.

[–]dammit_redskins 3 points3 points [recovered] | Copy Link

People hate on trump because it's the cool thing to do.

Saying you like trump at a university around young people would be social suicide. People would ostracize and label you a racist bigot. That's why most people don't speak their real opinion (that's why trump won, silent majority) around others.

Social media also is heavily biased, furthermore increasing the hate of trump for the mindless sheep who don't fact check or use logic.

I don't understand how people can think that enforcing laws against ILLEGAL immigrants is bad, they are ILLEGALLY here. And they call him sexist because he objectifies women, yet pretty much every guy talks like this around their bros.

I disagree with him on many other areas, but the above seems to be the most attacked.

[–]parkthebus11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I like your comment about all men talking like that about women. I mean, what healthy heterosexual man wouldn't want to grab an attractive woman by the pussy? Leftists argue about the morality of the comment & hope that if they harp on enough men will start to feel guilt about their own biology.

There's so many ways you can argue the stupidity of their complaining that I won't even bother to begin.

[–]lord-denning6 points7 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

It's no different here in the US; despite winning the election the far left are far more vocal and many, many of us hide our political views (to the extent they align with Trump) in the office and in our social circles in fear of being ostracized.

[–]HaikusfromBuddha2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

The thing is, the idea of a wall is so stupid that people didn't even take it seriously at first and thought this guy was never going to become president. To this day it's still a stupid idea. Let's be honest here, the Mexican government is going to pay for this stupid wall and if Trump does decide to go for it then Americans are probably going to pay for it with their own tax money.

[–]rijoja1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually it's already partly there.

[–]Avskygod02 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Serb here

no, everyone likes Trump here

[–]1grubek3 points4 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

The wall is not going to be built, but yes the anti-Trump hysteria is very dumb and even annoying if you don't take with some humor and distance.

[–]parkthebus11[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't think it would be built either, however today he came out and said basically most of it will be fencing.

[–]1grubek8 points9 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Haha, one thing you have to give to Trump is how entertaining he is.

[–]vox_veritas2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Every proposed federal statute dealing with this issue has included a fencing component. I don't understand why anyone on either side thinks this is particularly novel.

[–]GC0W300 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I haven't seen many immigrant Mexican laborers that don't know how to use a pair of goddamned tin snips.

Unless they step the border patrol way the hell up, that fence is going to do nothing besides waste about 20 seconds of some guy's time.

We have chosen to NOT fix the border for the last... 4? generations.

I'd wager 99% we keep letting in fucktons of undocumented people per year, not that I'm taking much of a side. Even if we stop 3X as many people sneaking across as we currently do, we're still letting in a HUGE number.

If we're going to have porous borders, though, WTF can't we just let everyone through after we check them for drugs, warrants and felony convictions?

[–]rigbed10 points11 points  (8 children) | Copy Link

Red pill is very divided. But there is one thing we can agree on: globalism is being fought against.

[–]6482625 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Fighting globalism has nothing to do with TRP, and what you said is not saying much. We can agree that globalism is being cheered on, and that Trump won the election.

[–]W_O_M_B_A_T2 points3 points  (6 children) | Copy Link

Globalism isn't a political group or ideology that one can fight. It's just an economic observation. Fighting globalism is like telling people to stop liking bananas. Or cell phones (impossible without materials and parts from worldwide.) Or magnets, or basically anything with steel or plastic or copper in it. So basically, Late 1800s type shit. But we can do all this in America domestically, yes? Sure, if you love paying 3-10 times as much.

Americans love globalism like they love French fries, they just don't know it.

[–]illisit6 points7 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

That's bullshit, nobody wants to fight it to that extreme. What we're fighting is the erosion of our cultures and the negrificatiin of the west.

[–]W_O_M_B_A_T4 points5 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Back in the late 1800s people in Britain were up in arms about losing economic supremacy to the USA and Germany. But even though British supremacy had lasted for a century, British quality of living was crap at the time. The deep irony is that the British standard of living, exports of British products, and British scientific research, never grew faster than when the sun finally set on the British empire.

So, Americans are so fucking insecure about losing their precious position in the spotlight the world center stage, but the thing is, I really can't think of anything generally bad that will happen to ordinary Americans due to economic dominance of China and India. Some industries will decline and some will grow. Demand for American exports and technical research will go up. Foreign investment in American companies will go up. American universities will continue to be top players. It's a great thing for everyone except the CIA and the Pentagon, for example.

So basically things will continue to be shitty for the majority of chinese and Indians, but will get better over time. While things will get better for Americans.

But Americans are so invested in the propaganda they've been told, they live a world that utterly robs them of economic facts.

[–]exotictantra1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

But Americans are so invested in the propaganda they've been told, they live a world that utterly robs them of economic facts.

this bit is baffling for me as well. many of these guys have no idea how much better off they are. how much US govt and its people dominate the lives of others...

looks like the 1% have successfully brainwashed the 99% to believe the problem is with the outsiders.

[–]findyourinsanity1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]illisit0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

The urban dictionary definition is succinct enough.

The process of societal degradation as manifested by the exaltation of all things relating to negro "culture". White persons opposing this phenomenon and it's effects upon their cultures/nations are to be quickly smeared as "racists" and ostracized from polite society.

And hes tough enough to Get Putins respect, badass Russian Putin.

[–]parkthebus11[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

A lot of people see his relationship with Putin as a negative. Many think it shows that Trump must be as "bad" as Putin. However, in befriending Putin, he's managed to achieve a good relationship with a superpower, something that know one else has managed.

[–]cuteman1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

But who do people even think Putin is? How many have even heard him speak instead of a media summary or political press release or quote from someone with an agenda?

People speak about WW3 but Russia doesn't even have the leverage to take over entire cointries. Crimea is only city and an important Russian port they couldn't lose access to.

So how is Russia even an issued? The only question is whether the US wants to continue activities around the world or return to pre Bush era DoD spending and maybe tackle that pesky federal debt which is now $20T.... Double when Obama took office.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Bingo

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure Putin has his respect per se. I just think he knows Trump won't give him trouble in his imperialistic pursuits like Clinton probably would.

[–]wanderer7791 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Trump is a reaction to racism on the left. They have spent the last few years telling struggling white people that they are racist and need to check their privilege. Obama appointed a bunch of racists and when white people questioned their racist positions they were called racist.

I could write a book about this. But I'm not a book writing type and even if I was there would be no point. Liberals would refuse to acknowledge it and conservatives are already aware of it. That is basically the state of political discourse in our country. We don't listen to the other side.

I still.maintain that Trump is a terrible choice for a president but I blame the left for him. They forgot that whites are 70% of the country and finally went too far with the identity politics.

From what I can tell from reading the reactions, they have learned nothing. They are still yelling 'racist' or 'sexist' at anyone who disagrees with them. They are still refusing to acknowledge the racism and sexism in their own party.

I am no political expert but I think the right is getting ahead of itself. I've seen a lot of people on the right going around celebrating like the war is over. But the left is doubling down on it. And remember Trump narrowly won in a year of low turnout for the democrats. This thing is far from over

[–]anotherswingingdick0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

iSteve demonstrated, with facts and figures, that if an American political group produces conditions under which white women make babies and STAY married to the father of the children..... those politicians will keep getting re-elected and re-elected and re-elected. Almost without further effort!

I don't know what that fact implies, and I don't know why it is true, but the statistical evidence that it is so, is quite strong.

[–]This_is_a_Test11 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Americans didn't want a Liberal Whiny bleeding heart Vagina, they want a strong leader that will stand up to China.

[–]cuteman3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The election became grocery store gossip magazines. You wonder who still buys that shit? But it's evolved to clickbait Facebook links which hundreds of millions of people are exposed to.

It's no coincidence that Chelsea Clinton is now on the board of a media conglomerate, IAC which owns the daily beast and college humor. It's no coincidence that Haim Saban, mega-Clinton donor and supporter bought both Univision and the onion, both liabilities in the hands of neutral ownership but could be an asset to the Clinton campaign.

It's not a coincidence that wikileaks showed us dozens of "Journalists" colluded, allowed edit, veto and allowed campaign written articles from and with the Hillary campaign giving rise to the term "presstitutes".

I'd argue corporate and other mainstream media is the problem. Investigative journalism is extremely endangered. Credibility and ethics are at an all time low for an industry termed the "4th" state, which is supposed to keep politics and business honest but now works towards special interests as a main source of income.

[–]Senior EndorsedVasiliyZaitzev2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

It's herd mentality.

A lot of my European friends prefer him over her because they view her as corrupt, but...Law 38. I have friends in Holland who prefer a strong America, and sympathize with his immigration policy because they're not digging being overrun by Sand People.

My Slavic friends all like him, although the Ukes are a bit nervous at his perceived friendship with Putin, which is massively overblown.

So President Trump. We'll be back to only two genders, everyone will go back to using the right bathroom and Miley Cyrus will go back to wearing girl clothes and dating boys again....

[–]deville053 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Me. I mean I don't think he is completely sane.. But he is so damn rich that he can't possibly relate to the normal people let alone cater to them. His win isn't a win for him, it's a vote against Hillary. It's a fuck you to the system. He won't stay there for too long and Hillary will never get to be president ever. He will cater to the working class and solve little problems that affect them but he won't be able to do much about get politics. Also he will turn out to be a disappointment to the same people in many ways. In these 4 years the left will go through their phases - sadness, anger n all that and come to reconcile and realize that it's their fault he is up there. If they were a little more reasonable and less smug when Obama was in office, trump wouldn't have won. The next candidate will be a unanimously agreed upon candidate I believe. Where both sides like.. Lets hold hands and do this.

[–]third-eye-brown3 points4 points  (8 children) | Copy Link

The border with Mexico is thousands of miles long. He's not an idiot for wanting to protect the borders, he's just completely disconnected with reality if he thinks a wall is feasible or would even do anything. It's in the middle of the Sonoran desert. If you're able to cross hundreds of miles of desert, you can get over a freakin wall.

He's also anti-science and is choosing a bunch of lobbyists and retards for his cabinet. That's why many people think he's an idiot.

However, he did a great job never saying anything definite about his plans so honestly I don't think anyone (including himself) knows what he'll actually end up doing while in office.

I read yesterday that he was asking White House staff how many days a week he needed to actually be in Washington DC and that he might split time between there and New York. I don't think even he expected to win and might be having a bit of buyers remorse. :p

[–]parkthebus11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure what exactly will happen with the wall. I don't think, even if something is built, it will be very effective anyway. If it is built, it will be mainly for symbolism I think. Even so, nothing wrong with the symbolism.

I don't think he doesn't believe in the science. I think he's probably just not interested in looking after the environment, however I don't think he'll stop the trend of improving things on that front, just that he'll slow it down.

[–]anotherswingingdick0 points1 point  (6 children) | Copy Link

Just let three of them get shot trying.... there will be a whole lot less people buying ladders to climb over that fence.

Mexicans aren't as stupid as they pretend to be, my friend

[–]third-eye-brown0 points1 point  (5 children) | Copy Link

Wow, that's incredibly racist. Mexicans aren't stupid and they don't pretend to be. I lived in AZ for 15 years and overall the Mexican people I know are great people. It goes without saying there are assholes in every group, of course.

I'd much rather live next to the average Mexican family than the average white trash family, or even the average American suburban family. Mexican families have much closer ties to their neighborhood and neighbors than the white suburban families I've lived near. I feel much safer living in a predominantly Mexican community (as I do now) because I am friends with my neighbors and I know we all are keeping an eye out on the neighborhood and each other's houses. I never felt that in white communities I've lived in where it's very much "you stick to your place, I'll stick to mine, and we might wave at each other every few weeks". For the record I'm an average white male.

[–]anotherswingingdick0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy Link

for the record, don't try to sneak over MEXICO's southern border fence.... you are LIKELY to get shot.

good enough for Mexican policy? good enough for American policy.

[–]third-eye-brown0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy Link

I think it shows a deep lack of sympathy for fellow humans to think in this way. I have a greater respect for human life than to think people should be shot for taking a risk to improve their lives. But a lot of people obviously disagree with me. It's unfortunate that the world is trending in the direction of hatred and segregation rather than cooperation. We will all be worse off for it.

I also don't think we should say "it's good enough for Mexico, it's good enough for us". I don't live my life that way, I make my own choices about what I believe is the right course of action. In my opinion it's a cop out to stoop to someone else's level - "if they did it, we can get away with it too".

But I know many more people agree with you than me. So I think we're gonna get a chance to see how it all plays out.

[–]anotherswingingdick0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't live my life that way,

they have a name for that mentality: cuck

please explain to me, why the dozen or so, celebrities who loudly proclaimed that they would leave the USA if Trump won.... are now back-tracking, and exposed to be chickenhawks? What is your explanation for that? Do you approve of that?

[–]third-eye-brown0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]KriegerAleks0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Aha, I don't. Coming from South Africa we have a party whose leader goes "whites are getting too comfortable in our country ..... we will resort to violence is peace doesn't work". To me, Trumps goals are actually both reasonable and smart. A society needs to take care of middle and lower class workers first, then it can focus on those without jobs. America as been neglecting them for too long and that's why your economy is fucked

[–]skoobled0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Major error I feel the "progressive left" ( or whatever you want to call it) has made in recent times is trying to paint itself as the "Good", "Moral" side. The problem here is you pretty much then have to be able to maintain a show of whiter than white (fun pun) righteous dogmatic perfection or the whole show will come crashing down. Even more fun when you select a candidate who has, at best, a lot of smoke around her

[–]adam_varg0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Not in ex communist totality countries. People here can smell commie from far away.

Clinton and all this progressive bs is nothing but modern version of commies. 90% people here are against that shit.

Of course masmedia are saying otherwise. Some odd naive college kids on social network too.

[–]tylerpkeaton0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I know the feeling. Same deal here in Canada. Although I do have tons of friends who love Trump.

HOWEVER, keep in mind that BREXIT PASSED IN THE UK!!! You are not the only one who wants strong borders.

What I think happens is a lot of the people who like Trump, or who agree with his politics are shutting up and keeping quiet because they feel its socially unacceptable to voice that opinion. You are getting a false sampling...only the people who hate Trump are vocalizing it, while the people who like him save their opinion for the voting booth...thus the entire world is shocked when Trump won.

[–]meh613-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

My cousin went to boarding school with Trump's daughter. Her brother and her went to their place for Thanksgiving -- he lived in Boston at the time, her in Connecticut, their parents overseas. My brother and hers are rather close.

She -- Ivanka's schoolmate -- was (and still is) freaking out about it. Her brother, however, apparently gave Trump a call directly, congratulating him and asked him about some of his more extreme rhetoric during the campaign. My family's Muslim from North Africa, but settled in Europe. My brother was born in Denmark. My father was born in Belgium. These two cousins were born in the Netherlands.

The brother was told that Trump didn't mean him. He calmly explained to Trump that the net he cast could trap him and that he'd be moving overseas by the beginning of next year. Donald Trump, the president-elect, convinced him, a Dutch, Muslim, of Moroccan-Belgian extraction to stay in the US.

And the gent in question is not swayed by emotion. If he was convinced by Trump, I'm not too fearful of Trump's rhetoric. If you (or anyone else) has further questions for the president-elect, I suspect my cousin has his ear now.

[–]eastworldsoldier-2 points-1 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Only one in Bombay for sure, all my friends are convinced he is the spawn of the devil and I will admit that I myself think that he's not dignified enough to deserve to hold a seat of that stature in this world BUT i do believe he is the lesser of the two evils against Hillary and the lesser of the two fools against Bernie.

I wish Ron Paul would've run, he's far more charismatic than his son and in my opinion could have won the nomination against trump and the election against Hillary or Bernie as well.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
