A few days ago, there was an article about the Sulkowicz-case in a German newspaper (I linked the english translation of the article here). One of the commenters complained that in 1994, the conviction rate for rape accusations in Germany had been ~20%, while in 2012 it was down to 8.4%. Another guy in the comments retorted that we had three extremely high profile cases of extremely dubious rape accusations between 2007 and 2012 in Germany, and that this may have had an impact on the mindset of many a policeman or judge who prior to these cases would have been inclined to give a female accuser the benefit of the doubt but now choose to stick to dishing out convictions that were beyond reasonable doubt.

However, this is something feminists don't get. They think that they simply must defend any rape claim, totally disregarding the fact that every time a woman who publicly makes rape claims and is believed without further questioning, only to turn out to be a fraud, hundreds of other women who actually have been raped will have a harder time getting justice because people won't believe them.
