Both world wars that changed the world history forever, now with poverty and slavery in some nations, and you complain that the AC is sexist...how tf is this not fake?

[–]Gdrew729 points10 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

It wasn't fake. The female incels were literally complaining that women were freezing at their jobs because men got to set the ac. Of course they failed to consider that acceptable work clothing for a man is socks, underwear, t shirt, long pants, long sleeve shirt fully buttoned up to the neck with a tie, and a full jacket. Women's work clothing is quite a bit less, unless she's wearing the womens version of a business suit. But, yes, this was very real.

I'm female. The AC is definitely very cold for me. I go home from work feeling sick countless times.

But it's something I have to work with. My coworkers are 98% male. I live in tropical country, the acceptable work clothing for a man is long pants and short/long sleeves shirt, socks and (closed) shoes. They also going in and out more often (praying, smoking, etc) so they want the AC to be as cold as possible when they come in.

It's not comfortable for my body. But one important part of working in professional environment is how we able to work together and compromise. So I wear jackets, socks, sometimes gloves, when I'm inside.

I understand. What I describe is common in the US. I would have business to take care of in a professional building and be freezing as i normally wear shorts and a t shirt to work in since i work outside. Im in Texas and I see these men in the full business getup and feel sorry for them. You see all the women just trying to get the circulation going in their feet and hands.

As with all Feminism it comes from a very deranged view of how society works, they always see them selves as victims in every situation, they just can not understand self responsibility or compromise, and most certainly never ever take in all considerations, they only care about what directly effects them, and nothing else. (egocentric by nature)

Several real issues/considerations can be derived from office AC,
Its easier to get warm than cool in an office environment. there are only so many clothes you can take off in the office. but no limit to how many you can put on.
Women are naturally colder than men, so to make women comfortable it would become unbearable for men. and its a lot harder to work overheating than it is being colder.
Men still are the majority of workers, (not by choice), so it makes more sense to set the temp to whats most comfortable for the majority of your working staff.

Office environments are almost never balanced anyway. and I have seen efforts to make pod adjustable temp control. why because men think good, rather than turning it into a gender bashing exercise, men just thing of solutions that have nothing to do with victimizing dumb arse feminists.

But if Feminists get control like they want, I am pretty sure they would be concern with non biased solutions.

Also isn't telling men to compromise the epitome of hypocrisy...

I saw that interview and couldn't stop laughing at her right the way through it, I found it especially amusing when it was suggested that men wear shorts to the office, and her best response was to blatantly objectify men by saying she enjoys seeing men wearing shorts.

So the best thing that came out of it was, I think air conditioning is sexist because I don't like being in a cold office, of and I want to objectify men because reasons.

I felt bad for her, to be honest, I thought she's obviously the office stooge trotted out to look stupid because it's not an argument anybody with a rational mind wants to make.

I mean when she was suggesting that men can wear shorts and another on the panel asked why women can't wear a jumper. It just made her whole argument fall apart.

What I found lacking through the entire discussion was where the interviewer fell down in their questioning, you see computers work better and are more efficient and cost effective when they are cold, now it's true that many places require men to wear suit or business clothing which has far less options for comfort than women have, overall though her argument boiled down to the following.

A more comfortable office for women means that the machines everyone uses will have to become far less effective and far less efficient and at the same time increasing the risk of fires breaking out from overheating machines.

You could play a game where you list these headlines/titles like on the right, and you have to guess if the associated photo is wearing a pair of glasses that have pointy bits on the top corners
