Actually I used to work on a treatment facility for sexually reactive youth, all boys. Publicly farting was a behavior we were trained to prevent and address because it is considered a dominant “grooming” behavior. I realize it sounds totally controlling and obsessive, but was very important where it’s necessary to take every step to keep everyone safe.

EDIT: I would definitely not go nearly as far as to say that any man who farts loudly plans to rape or is even subconsciously asserting dominance. But as a behavior pattern for someone with other concerns it can actually signal a real issue.
