Look I'm a feminist and I think fake rape accusations are an awful thing we need to combat, but I don't think vilifying victims is any good. Treat victims as such, treat suspects as innocent until proven guilty. Unless conclusive proof shows otherwise, the victim has been raped and should be allowed support and therapy but the suspect has not raped anybody and shouldn't be condemned unless evidence suggests they have.

Actually I agree 100%. On the defensive side, I don't mind #believewomen as far as getting her support, therapy, counseling... whatever she may need. Worst case scenario, if it is all made up, she has taken advantage of a few volunteers and good people.

But as far as attacking and isolating the accused, I think we need a much higher level of evidence and confirmation. Otherwise #believewomen can be weaponized by a person who has no qualms with lying.

So, I am 100% in agreement with you. the comic I think is intended to show, that even if false rape accusations are rare, there has to be some room for evidence and counter evidence. Otherwise it quickly devolves into a witch hunt where there is literally no possible way for the accused to prove their innocence. Such a situation is easily exploited by those not acting in good faith.

This goes doubly for accusations that are never taken to the police but merely made on social media. I AM HIGHLY SKEPTICAL OF ANY RAPE ACCUSATION MADE ON SOCIAL MEDIA BUT NOT TAKEN TO THE POLICE. Yes, it is a difficult process. But a social media accusation carries none of the risk and all of the reward. While for the accused, a social media accusation takes away your voice. Are you really supposed to defend yourself and present evidence on twitter, to the angry mob. It just further enflames them.

Well seeing as how luck is on my side I'll just roll Nat 20 for false rape repeal

Um... with #metoo... there is no roll. To cast the spell is to create the effect. That is my point because that is problematic. They aren't playing by the rules. There is no defense.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
