Basically as the title states. I used to love bands like Breaking Benjamin, Young Guns, Seether ect but now that i've seen the light, it is a bunch of Beta shit. I still love it musically but lyrically I just cringe. I miss being able to sing along because I don't believe the lyrics anymore.

[–]kxb220103 points104 points  (26 children) | Copy Link

I thought I was the only one. They all sound like a bunch of whiners now. It just annoys the shit out of me.

[–][deleted] 56 points57 points  (22 children) | Copy Link

You're not alone brother. As crazy as it sounds, I respect underground hip hop more now because some of those guys just get it.

[–]kxb22012 points13 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes thankfully I was already a hip hop fan. Being alpha seems like a requirement in the rap scene.

[–]mty_green_go3 points4 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

Being alpha seems like a requirement in the rap scene.

cringe

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. Too much nut hugging of rappers goes on in TRP sometimes.

Do you know what's beta? Always worrying about what's alpha.

[–]Kenny_Twenty5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

You're a douche.

[–]Geleemann9 points10 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I cringed at your cringe

[–]korewarp6 points7 points  (13 children) | Copy Link

I like linkin park, because.. well I just do. Pls no hate.

To respond to your underground hip hop thing though, I didn't like rap at all when I was still plugged in. I still don't like most of it, but eminem, D12 and Dr. Dre are pretty good and very RP.

[–]tuxedoburrito5 points6 points  (11 children) | Copy Link

Check out Atmosphere, Childish Gambino, or old Wu-Tang.

[–]SeKcRP3 points4 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Slug from atmosphere is about as blue pill as it gets. The first 10 years of his career was about nothing but "Lucy".

Brother Ali, army of the pharoahs, Jedi mind tricks, blueprint, and my personal favorite El-P and his side project which has turned into his main Run The Jewels.

RP shit all day with these examples.

[–]coop_dogg6 points7 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Except Lucy isn't a girl. It's a metaphor for drug use

[–]cleftscout1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

And his poor relationship with women in general.

[–]IDefyAxioms1 point2 points  (5 children) | Copy Link

Atmosphere isn't RP in the slightest, though. Here, and basically the entirety of When Life Gives You Lemons... is feminist as fuck.

[–]idle_reception4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Gun's and cigarettes? God loves ugly? Hells playground?

[–]tuxedoburrito2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I've just got a handful of his songs on my playlist.

Yesterday is really strong about his father relationship and Same Day, I think, is really rad about keeping positive mentality. Haven't listened to his full album though

[–]Squeezymypenisy0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Try ACDC or other bands similar?

[–]IDefyAxioms0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Not into classic rock. But I've got quite the music library already (~10-11k songs)

[–]Squeezymypenisy0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I have around that amount. But its only because i download full albums and delete the crap i dont like.

[–]ninjathejake-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

+1 for Childish Gambino! So good.

[–]AmericanHistoryAFBB0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Those are all great. Also, Too Short is good. "I'm A Player" is about as Red Pill as you can get.

[–]AmericanHistoryAFBB2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't feel guilty listening to Eminem anymore because he speaks so much truth.

I was actually raised on Country though, but now I appreciate hip hop more.

[–]Cyberdellic0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

u like dead prez?, the finest

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

The target demographic is exactly that: a bunch of whiners.

[–]AmericanHistoryAFBB0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Me too. I'm a country guy and though I still enjoy it, it really does feel like a bunch of cases of one-itis all of a sudden.

[–]wanderer7791 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I like some classic country. Some of it is whiny but many times if you listen through the whole album it tells a story and in the end the guy the guy who started out whining doesn't care about the woman anymore and goes out drinking and starts banging new chicks.

[–]fnordsnord 15 points15 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Only love songs.

[–]LastRevision0 points1 point [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, it's ruined music for me too :)

[–]Endorsed Contributortepper248 points49 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

I used to love bands like Breaking Benjamin, Young Guns, Seether

And nothing of value was lost.

[–]KingofNUlm0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Breakin Bens only good album is their first one. Natural Life is a great song to lift to

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

True. I am a musican so these were songs I would jam out too

[–]Endorsed Contributortepper240 points41 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Cool. I'm a beer connoisseur, so I'm really a huge fan of Natural Ice, Milwaukee's Best, and Bud Light Lime.

[–]Steve_Wiener6 points7 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Underrated joke

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

No. Sometimes music can be a form of escape and enjoyment. If I want to escape to a fantasy land where I am reminded of the love I have towards my unicorn when I hear a song, I am able to experience that. That does not mean I carry these feelings over into the real world. I don't label feelings "alpha" or "beta". Feelings are neither. Actions are what count. If you're analyzing which things are "beta" and "alpha", you're just following dogma, not your own compass in life.

[–]cleftscout1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

What about oneitis? The feeling that there is one special lady and she is deserving of utmost respect and to be treated fairly no matter what and never accepting that no one is that special.

[–]TRP VanguardWhisper28 points29 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

It did for a while. But I'm no longer afraid of acting beta.

It doesn't bother me to hear about betas, or hear betas, because that's never going to be me.

Test yourself. Listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eheFYJh0mVs.

If it bothers you, you are most likely identifying with the singer, afraid of going back to being that. If you feel a surge of joy when you hear the last verse, then you know that you NOW it's talking about you. And you have become comfortable in your own skin.

When you're no longer afraid of being beta, you can listen to the most weak, beta, cringeworthy shit imaginable, and feel nothing but perhaps some pity for the poor misguided bastard.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

this, I can now listen to songs and discern the bullshit.

and not all these musicians are beta despite sounding like it, that shit sells and being a successful musician is hard enough.

[–]AmericanHistoryAFBB1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. I can still enjoy listening to the music as much as I enjoy watching fantasy films. I know it's not complete reality, but it's still fun to listen to and escape reality once in a while.

[–]third-eye-brown-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a great song (that I just heard for the first time) and I wouldn't consider it beta.

There are many whiny emo songs that are basically "I'm shit and the only thing good about my life was the 15 seconds you paid me attention".

I feel much more than simple pity, I feel a deep distain for these lost souls, who I often feel are the ones most harmed by the system and yet the ones who fight most strenuously to perpetuate it.

[–]RPAlternate4226 points27 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely not... Meghan Trainor is the best!!

/s so hard.

[–]tuxedoburrito2 points3 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

fuck. you.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Somebody is about treble. Fucking amateur

[–]Squeezymypenisy21 points22 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Wait what? I thought she was all about that bass, no treadmill?

[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet5 points6 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't be a treblemaker.

[–]RatherDieStanding16 points17 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Sam Smith is dead to me.

[–]itsxeno 7 points7 points [recovered] | Copy Link

As a hip-hop native, not really. A lot of it is pro-TRP.

[–]ChimpWithAGun 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

3 months later, but I'm really curious. Can you some examples of pro-TRP hip-hop artists?

[–]ProjectShamrock11 points12 points  (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes and no. I'm mainly interested in the "music" and not the lyrics, but even the lyrics take place in a fantasy scenario where the artist gets to share their emotions in an exaggerated state. In some cases, songs going to absurd levels of weakness can help you realize how you may relate to that weakness to a lesser degree and improve your life.

One of my favorite bands is Muse -- featured on the Twilight movies, have songs about failed relationships and oppressive governments. Even their most aggressive songs are still passive in many ways, but it's great music. The song "Citizen Erased" is really one long prog-rock whine, but it's one of my favorite songs of all time.

As others have said, sure, love songs are kind of ruined for me but most dudes don't listen to many of them anyway.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I've always loved Muse's music, but I have always found their lyrics to be lacking. It actually pains me to listen to them because I keep thinking how this music is ALMOST timeless classics, but they just fall short of the mark. But yes, now that you mention it, it's because they are passive. Their music screams passion, they sing about wanting to show passion, but they never actually express passion. I want them to be my favorite band. Right now they are just may favorite band to play on the guitar.

[–]ProjectShamrock1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Right now they are just may favorite band to play on the guitar.

Same here. They're the reason I own a ZVex Fuzz Factory pedal, although I use my Earthquaker Hoof Fuzz pedal more often. The intro to Plug In Baby is still one of my favorite riffs to bust out at random times.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (9 children) | Copy Link

Nope. I listen to electronic music and ambient (deep house, bass, IDM, progressive trance, etc) and love it. Lyrics are for pussies.

[–]benediction_in_mind0 points1 point  (8 children) | Copy Link

Amen. Artists you into at the moment?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (7 children) | Copy Link

Croatia Squad, EDX, Calippo, Disclosure, Funkin Matt, Gorgon City, Mat Zo, Porter Robinson, Audien, Zonderling, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Lapalux, Eric Prydz, Tchami, on my daily driver playlists.

Lots of other more obscure artists/tracks too. What about you?

[–]benediction_in_mind1 point2 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

I listen to about the same stuff. Ever heard of man trance? It's like droning progressive-deep house music played by artists like Mano Le Tough, AME, Tale of Us, Dixon. Into that right now, mesmerizing stuff.

Howling - Howling (Âme Remix): https://youtu.be/5kqVgbhenEI

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

That seems really cool, thanks for the info!

[–]KonradKant 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Innervisions is a good label. I'm usually more on the minimal/techno side of things but do like some progressive/deep house.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Could you recommend some techno/tech house artists? I really like the genre but never got into it.

[–]fourteenthofjune1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

nice list brah, give mossy a go too

[–]insanestratt1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I suggest you check out Dauwd. He's super good and it goes right in to your bands. I listen to most all the bands you just mentioned.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Yes yes yes.

Add Staind and Linkin Park to the list of shit I can't believe I actually related and listened to.

[–]RiseAboveRuin3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck you guys, I love Staind. Have you heard his new country? Aaron Lewis - The Road and Town Line.

Still waiting for that FUCKING TOOL ALBUM GOD DAMNIT!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Staind definitively. I've seen Staind live so many times but now I really have no desire

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

No, thank god. All the music I listen to outside of hip hop (mostly love songs) is usually the most beta shit a person can write but I still love it. The only time I can be a complete faggot and feel alright about it is when I'm listening to music.

[–]Humankeg4 points5 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

TV, music, movies, magazine stories... All of it has changed.

Now when I see a joke on a TV sitcom or movie all I can think about is the way it demasculates men. Its so rampart in today's society too. Everybody Loves Raymond is a goldmine on how a man should not act or be treated in a relationship (he is verbally, emotionally, and physically abused by his wife Deborah) and yet it is comedy to watch a man be pushed into a book shelf and laughed at.

[–]jason-funk 3 points3 points [recovered] | Copy Link

y'all need more hatebreed in your lives

[–]seethered2 points3 points [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. The hardcore scene is great. /u/Chocotop talks about personal struggle, that scene is all about it and about building yourself back up. Bands like Hatebreed, Madball, Sworn Enemy, Terror, Converge, Comeback Kid, Obey the Brave, etc etc all show that.

Note: Just seen /u/tuxedoburrito further talked about this

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Turning sixteen ruined those bands for me.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I get it judging by the comments. I was a raging faggot

[–]markfeel5 points6 points  (4 children) | Copy Link

I mostly listen to death/black metal bands who write lyrics about hatred these days.

[–]seethered1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Kataklysm is a great death metal band along with Agalloch for black metal

[–]tuxedoburrito0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah! Like whom?

[–]markfeel5 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Darkthrone, Thy Art is Murder, Behemoth, Marduk, Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy, Bloodbath, Carnifex, to name a few.

[–]tuxedoburrito0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah! Cool. The dudes in carnifex are really fun guys. Sick.

[–]Hamilton5M 3 points3 points [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]Otah_Machi2 points3 points [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Great track though.

[–]curomo1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I would have gone with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QD5n98R_nk

[–]Sketti-Os1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

What about this one?

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I mean...it fits...

[–]1tino1252 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Meh, not at all. I listen to electronic music (trance, progressive house). Some of it has cheesy lyrics, but 1. that doesn't bother me and 2. half the time I'm not listening to it for the lyrics, but for the driving beat and uplifting melody.

I'm all about the uplifting, feel-good shit. One of my recent favorites, and a great gym tune.

Nicky Romero vs. Volt & State - Warriors

[–]mty_green_go0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Gym time and EDM time go great together

[–]DwightWolftail2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Coincidentally , I was thinking of this today . Yes it has ... But at least I mostly listen to classical and soundtracks . When I was younger I used to listen to scorpions , linkin park , oasis and this shit is so fucking beta ...

[–]Endorsed Contributorleftajar10 points11 points  (16 children) | Copy Link

Only music made by blacks is redpill these days.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't, fuck with, you!

[–]mty_green_go1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay, Jamie Foxx

[–]Chocotop1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, it definitely has. I dont relate to love songs or atleast dont like hearing them. Songs about personal struggle, I still relate to because as a man youre problems are yours and yours alone. Music is my 'orbiter' that keeps me strong.

[–]tuxedoburrito1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

You should start listening to some good metalcore, that stuff will toughen you up. Or hardcore. It's full of alpha lyrics.

some good hardcore punk bands: Comeback Kid. Have Heart. Ceremony. The Ghost Inside

some good metalcore bands: Oh Sleeper. Mouth of the South. Beartooth. Whitechapel.

It's not even that their lyrics aren't beta, it's just alpha lyrics NOT about women. It's great.

[–]seethered2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Another metalcore band worth mentioning is Unearth. They are blue collar through and through and have shown plenty of strong work ethic throughout the years, especially with their latest album.

Kudos to the band Killswitch Engage too for getting Jesse Leach back. He adds passionate thought provoking lyrics back into the band.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Right now, a good portion of the music that I listen to is in a language that I don't understand because just about everything here in the United States bleeds Blue like Hell. Not to mention some French rap has some pretty sick beats.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I used to love bands like Breaking Benjamin, Young Guns, Seether

Not liking this kind of shit is called becoming an adult, fortunately there's lots of music adults can listen to

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Naw man. Hasn't ruined movies for me either. In fact, I daresay I enjoy it all more now that I constantly recognize RP/BP themes stemming from almost everything. I appreciate understanding, because often times it's full of reminders of the things I already know, and I am still able to enjoy it for what it is. It's kinda surprising to hear you say this - it's something I'd never considered before. Then again, I've been a guitarist for 20 years and I've grown to understand and love music too much for anything to ruin it for me.

[–]OzzyGangrel1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

try to listen to some Danzig

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, for like 70% of today "top hits" are nothing more then bunch of faggots lyrics. Did anyone of you heard song "magic-rude"? Omg, just that!

[–]87GNX1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

TRP has ruined a lot of male vocalists for me.

TRP has, strangely, made a number of female vocalists less annoying. Instead of "oh this bitch won't stop blathering on about this dude" it's just cute, like, girls gonna girl.

[–]WillWorkForLTC1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Check out the Cribs. Ryan Jarman (guitarist+vocals) has gone full monk mode after losing plenty of friends and family to his illness. Gary (bass+vocals) his identical twin is pissed off BP at the denial anger stage. Their little brother Ross on the drums is a badass and you can tell he is a player. It's interesting to hear the lyrics change from angst to anger to desperation then acceptance as they released albums since 2001.

Probably one of the most underappreciated bands in the UK right now. If you like The Pixies, 60' garage rock sound, alt. Rock they are a superb band to get into. They single handedly invented the style of mid-fi rock. Check em out.

Here is one of their better tracks. This is an interpretation of the lyrics: I think that it's an ironic satire of the way women view men. Jarman is mocking the excuses women make up to use in order to dump men, that they've only gone for in the first place because they're in a bad state and are effectively using them.

Their lyrics are almost always tongue in cheek. Enjoy!

Edit: This song has more commercial value. Their mid-fi stuff comes later.

[–]thefisherman19611 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Groups like AC/DC are pretty Red Pill, and they are one of the most successful acts of all time. Coincidence?

[–]jbaum3031 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

You might like rap music more. They are brutally honest about women, and their intentions for them.

[–]seiken2871 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep. Can only listen to rap and hip hop

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I've always listened to hip hop mainly (with some electronic and film OST's) but I've had to drop R&B cause shit is cringey as fuck.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy Link

I've never been so aware of the lyrics to songs as I am now, it is really annoying. I really don't want to have to analyze every fing song's lyrics, but I can't help myself. Doesn't really matter if its alpha or beta... I just want to enjoy the song.

But yeah... That is why I enjoy Post-Rock now, no lyrics.

Also I feel like lyrics made less sense when I was younger. It was more metaphorical and also it was more difficult to tell what they were saying until you've listened to it many many times. When you are a kid you never know wtf they are talking about. You just love the sound. Wish I could recapture that.

On the other hand, I've never enjoyed so many different genre's as I do now. I'm fully engaged in everything from oldies to pop to metal to punk to emo to hip hop to edm.

[–]Johnny10toes0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

See I like the lyrics. Especially when it is a metaphor or double entendre

Quiet. I am sleeping. In here.

That's a triple.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Mainstream rap is RP as fuck, I don't care for the music but when I hear it in the gym I notice it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I only really listen to death metal, so not for me, no.

[–]RealityTunnelBob1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

No fucking way! I listen to Death Metal.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm a musician and I've been singing these blue pill songs for years. Once I turned red I found it hard to relate to all the songs I was singing. I'm now able to focus on the emotions the singers are feeling now and not so much the reasons.

I find songs that are red way more enjoyable. I suggest you all listen to "The Weeknd". He's red as fuck.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Same here man. I am now totally devoted to power metal. The strange thing is that i used to hate it back in the day !

Hammerfall, Gamma ray, Judas Priest etc.. I have a full list. Yet power metal seems to be dying out which makes me incredibly sad as i can't losten to the same songs forever.

[–]RichieFinn1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

You should listen to an R&B singer called The Weeknd.

Anyone familiar with his shit knows what im talking about. Has some beta songs about love but usually the moral of the story is hes out fucking new bitches now you had your chance hoe.

Simply put my favorite line of his " I dont care about you, why you worried about me"

[–]dmystery 1 points1 points [recovered] | Copy Link

Almost definately yes. Ellie Goulding/Taylor Swift stuff? Heck no.

I find it hilarious though how many college girls will go from the FemSoc StarBetaBucks™ meet n' greets to twerking/grinding to MajorLazer a few hours later.

I'm not too sure where Classical music lies though? Thoughts anyone else?

[–]Senior ContributorMentORPHEUS3 points4 points [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Classical music is great, it is all about the music- no lyrics good or bad. Bach, Handel, Beethoven, all great to listen to. Mozart- probably one of the most redpill musicians of all time. By the time he was my age, he had been dead for over 13 years.

A lot of music today seems to be to keep the plebes happy with mediocrity. I find it difficult to concentrate on reading when pop music is playing; I think it entrains the brainwaves to a chaotic state where learning and deeper thought is impossible.

[–]seethered0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

You are on to something

Pop music may change the brainwaves to enter a chaotic hyper beta state

[–]bpgred2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Electronic music is my favorite choice, seldomly cheesy lyrics (or lyrics at all), solid steady beats of varying intensity - but i was into it before TRP already. Classical music is a good choice too from what I understand of/how I see TRP, although it doesn't get me going say in the gym or at a party.

[–]noobster_20200 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I used to listen to those bands except Young guns but yea the music is annoying now.

[–]nigmuh0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Stay away from radio artists.

[–]Myrpl0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh fuck yes. Most of the songs I listen now are either instrumental or in some foreign language where I cannot tell what the lyrics say.

But that's not all. Once I detached myself from music, I began seeing things less... emotionally. I began recognizing when a TV "news show" is appealing to emotions with propaganda. I can read actions instead of words. Music is just a piece of the fake construction that fell apart.

That's how rare being a red piller is, when compared to the rest of the world.

[–]walkingthelinux0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow, so many times I thought about making this exact post.

Yes! My favorite band is Jeff Lynne's The Electric Light Orchestra and the love / relationship songs are beta as fuck.

So far I'm successfully ignoring it. At least he's being beta in an innovative and entertaining way. :)

[–]RPthrowaway1230 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Got a Strangeeeeee Maggggggic

I'm the same way. I notice it, but it doesn't bother me at all. It's just part of music. I don't think any musician intended their songs to be a blueprint on how to get girls. Except maybe "Gas Pedal" by Sage the Gemini :P

[–]mbillion0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

so you cant listen to emo blather anymore. Hell no man, there is a lot of really good music out there.

[–]5850s0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I was there too until I found actual good music.

check out the likes of elvis costello, stiff little fingers, jon astley, the pretenders, joy division, and you will not be disappointed.

[–]NiceTryDisaster0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. I have a hard time explaining why because it would take a lot to write about though.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Made me like hip hop more.

People judging hip hop for not being deep enough barely understand the vibe of it, which is fine, I don't understand metal.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Some music, but you can always listen to music without lyrics. Jazz, classical, etc.

I also listen to metal, there's some great stuff out there if you expand your horizons.

[–]thefisherman19610 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Most of the music I listen to is pretty Red Pill. The lyrics either are about plating, Red Pill relationships, or have nothing to do with women at all. Very little of it makes me cringe because of the singer is being a blue-pill beta with severe oneitis.

[–]Overzealous_BlackGuy0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I liste. To rap, so its scary to hear all the truths that get reiterated.

Listen to "thats my shit" by the dream. Story of beta bucks alpha fucks.

And any other rap song. These men arent lying. When you have what a women wants bitches just like any human being will grovel. When youre 1 in a million. Its a different world out there.

[–]boscoist0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I present a solution: Sabaton military history metal.. enjoy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrJAwCBbnuc

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I went from listening to classic rock, metal, heavier rocks, and pretty much anything involving a guitar and distortion to listening to primarily a combination of electronica, funk, and jazz.

Rock music is fucking depressing, except for those like nickelback who sing about how life is. I much prefer my peaceful melodic beats and gentle grooves to the pissed off anklebiter shit I used to listen to.

[–]Leviticus590 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

As a guy in my mid-50s I'm a big classic rock fan (early 70s to late 80s). I never listened to the lyrics too closely; it's the music itself I like, but the words do enter one's consciousness to some degree. That very thought hit me a while back-- mellow stuff in particular is all a bunch of sugary, blue pill slurpy beta-ness. Even the harder stuff is mostly blue pill. I was not aware of it, but I imagine it had an effect on my blue pill mindset, figuring that's the way the world worked, and thus, the way I should act.

Not only are those bands singing faggot shit, but pop-music these days, especially coming from female artist and urban artists (latinos mostly) are straight slut-enabling, hamster-fueling shitty examples that make me literally hope I never have a daughter.

And if I do, I'm drowning her in a river bruh smh

[–]Johnny10toes0 points1 point [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Speaking of rivers the one that is popular right now is some bitch "singing" about going to a river and sucking dick. She sounds like she's on the toilet squeezing out a turd.

What about finding Feminism in the music you listen to?

The band for me was Protest the Hero. They have undeniable musicianship, but their lyrical content is what I started to question since seeing the red. Their first album was "Kezia". It is a concept album about a girl named Kezia who is oppressed from men. The album has a strong pro-feminist theme throughout. Continuing on that path, their next album "Fortress" is about goddess worship. Their latest albums "Scurrilous" and "Volition" have undertaken a more personal platform since Rody Walker started writing the lyrics. However, one of their latest songs "Plato's Tripartite" is revisiting their feminist views. Here are some interviews that further show Walker's standpoint:

Interview #1

Towards the end the lead singer discusses about not taking advantage of girls and sexually exploiting them.

Interview #2

Towards the middle, he talks about rape culture.

Try folk metal.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes and no for me. I grew up around the emo/pop punk scene and my god it is an easily offended and feminist minded genre. However, tons of really solid bands are on the come up and I enjoy them if not for nostalgia purposes. Lots of coming of age material coming out that I relate to at times.

Other than that I love hip hop so I'm not terribly devasted either.

[–]0utlo0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

Who knows some good RP minded hip-hop artists ?

[–]FoolishWiseGuy1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Action Bronson

[–]RedPillGold0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of metal & rock music is blue pill as fuck, I guess because most of the audience is blue pill as fuck.

Luckily, the EDM and hip-hop I listen to is normally neutral or Red Pill.

[–]Johnny10toes0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy Link

For a while. I still listen to it though. Check out Volbeat. It's got a pretty good story. The dude seems like a DT going through relationships.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Been a Volbeat fan for years. They're Dutch so I don't think the west has ruined them

[–]Zaorish90 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Still love the Grateful Dead.

While the story teller speaks, a door within the fire creaks,

Suddenly flies open, and a girl is standing there

Eyes alight, with glowing hair, all that fancy paints as fair

She takes her fan and throws it in the lion's den

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?

I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance

The sailor gave at least a try; the soldier, being much too wise,

Strategy was his strength, and not disaster

The sailor, coming out again, the lady fairly leapt at him

That's how it stands today. You decide if he was wise

[–]ArizonaAmerica0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Mainly everything I listen to is pre 90's Rock, Metal, and Punk. Really no issues here.

[–]I_HaveAHat0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Same with me and tyler the creator and childish gambino. The good news is theres tons of alpha oldschool rap out there. Wu tang, biggie, nwa, ice cube, and so on. Hip hop is usually pretty alpha

[–]dandar46000 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

No, TRP has actually made me think more about the lyrics and understand the drive behind them a bit better. Listen to David Guetta (feat Nicky Minaj) hey Mama. Some great red pill stuff there like Captain - first mate relationship, her respecting him, him being the boss, her doing the cleaning, the cooking and giving it up to him when ever he needs it. The best is at the end when she sings about being on her knees to please him to be a lady and a freak.

[–]TheRealMewt0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Certain bands and songs I don't like because they sound too whiney about losing your oneitis and shit like that. Then again, lots of other songs aren't about losing your balls and I still like that kind of stuff.

I've grown to have a overall fonder appreciation for rap music, though.

[–]teeelo0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't say it has RUINED it for me but I definitely get annoyed at the lyrics to some songs especially if the music isn't good. If the song is catchy enough I'll usually put up with it, but yeah a lot of the Blue Pill lyrics just fuelled my original Blue Pill outlook on life. Kept me believing in 'the right one'

Take 'Shut up and Dance' by Walk the Moon for example.

It's basically a song about the girl of your dreams coming on to YOU and taking charge. As if.

(Copy pasting a reply I just made on one of the posts on TRP)

I still listen to rap, hard rock and electronic occasionally but I am trying to decrease that as well. I feel music is like porn, to a certain extent. Terrible genres like pop, country etc are plain bad but even the better genres like rap and hard rock, although RP to a huge extent, are still bad. It makes you feel like you're the rapper or you're the rock star doing all those awesome things, feeling all those awesome feeling they feel but in reality you're just sitting like a brick with headphones plugged into your ears while browsing reddit and chatting with people.

Here is a good post titled "Avoid non-sexual porn. It's all around you" that I read on GetDisciplined

Have you ever cried during a movie or videogame? Maybe it was a book, or a song. Maybe you didn't cry. Maybe you got angry, or really happy, or felt pumped up. Sometimes you hear a song where the singer is bragging about their success and you almost feel like you're the one singing it, like you're on stage in front of a crowd. And then you turn on the sink and brush your teeth. I've decided to describe this sort of content as porn. Now, I know this isn't a unique thing. Plenty of people use porn inappropriately. Rage porn. Gore porn. Earth porn?. Yes, Earth porn. And I'll admit, it is a little unfair. The word "porn" has a negative connotation in our culture. Using it to describe something immediately implies that that thing is bad, seedy, maybe even fetishistic. And yes, that is what I'm implying.

What I'm implying it about is the pointless content we suck up all the time. The articles we read and documentaries we watch, designed to get us pissed off. The blog posts and autobiographies we read, designed to make us feel like winners. The love songs we hear and poems we read, designed to make us feel heartbroken. They're all quite bad for you, or at least in the doses you're consuming them. And if you want to get control over your life, you need to stop. Why are they bad?

Because they allow you to experience certain important aspects of life by proxy. Look at straight up pornography. It's not about observing two people having sex. It's about imagining what it's like to be one of the people having the sex. You want to be with an attractive and ravenous person right now, but you can't, so you watch someone else do it. And you enjoy not how good the sex is, but how good the sex must be.

I cannot stress that part enough. It's the sex by proxy that you love so much. And non-sex porn is the same. You read a feel-good story about a guy who climbs his way up from being homeless to being a millionaire, and you enjoy it because you want to feel like that. You want to feel that "I DID IT!!" moment. Like with sex-porn, you're focused on how good it must feel to be successful, because right now you can't experience how good it actually is to be successful.

That's dangerous. The urge to have sex at times when you cannot is very important. It makes you do things like buy new clothes, shave, take showers, and get haircuts. It makes you wonder what that other person thinks of you when you walk in the room. If that urge for sex was satisfied every time it came up, your participation in the mindless human mating dance would end, and so would your chances of real sex. Oops. Too much sex by proxy reduces real sex.

The same happens with success. You keep watching goddamn episodes of Shark Tank and reading the Steve Jobs biography and seeing blog posts about successful people being successful, and that scratches your itch every time you think "I'm so fucking tired of the way my life is right now." Your "I'm gonna do something about this!!!!" urge goes away, because it's satisfied by a blog post by Tim Ferriss about a guy who made a million dollars selling ear plugs (I'm only kinda kidding).

The author then goes on to talk about moderation and how everything is okay in moderation. But that's where I disagree with him.

Hence, I'm trying to get rid of listening music out of my life as much as possible. It's hard considering I was a wanna-be guitarist/rockstar and a music addict in the past but I'm trying.

[–]NiceTryDisaster0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

The reason why I disagree on moderation when it comes to music is that, I have this little theory about addictions.

Some addictions are like a food addiction. While some are like drug addictions.

A food addiction cannot be controlled by completely cutting off food. Completely cutting out food would kill you. To control a food addiction and its effects you will have to start eating better quality foods, up your protein/fat intake, decrease bad carbs, decrease sugar etc.

There is another type of addiction: the drug addiction. You cannot moderate a meth or heroin addiction. Where you do something in an healthy range and then back off. No, never. A drug addict just wants to do more and more of a given drug. A drug addiction cannot afford "doing a little amount of the drug" because he will relapse and fall back into the loop. Moderation does not work for the second type of addiction i.i. the drug addiction.

So my point is, things like porn, social media, youtube, music, tv, these I feel are second type of addiction. No one watches one youtube video or one song or one episode of a show and get backs to productive work. You binge on these things and you binge hard. Thats why these things are not even good in moderation.

No, they always sucked.

[–]chkethley0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope. I've been listening to red pill music for a while and didn't even know it. Never listened to pop garbage.

Coincidentally , I was thinking of this today . Yes it has ... But at least I mostly listen to classical and soundtracks . When I was younger I used to listen to scorpions , linkin park , oasis and this shit is so fucking beta ...

You want RP tunes, get into Nick Cave. Seriously, check this shit out:

[–]Pie_keeper0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

The Rolling Stones are pretty unplugged and Fugazi are Monk mode as fuck.

Hip-Hop culture is fucked up, they talk about "bitch bitch bitch and champagne" while acting like they don't give a fuck but it's superficial. Exceptions are always there.

[–]RedPill4LYF-2 points-1 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

How did you honestly used to love any of those bands red pill or not?

[–]Idontlikekarmawhores-3 points-2 points  (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope, i never listened to shitty bands like OP tho. But i can see rp in singers like Lana Del Rey and Die Antwoord
