Welcome to the red pill. You probably got here because we were linked from another subreddit. Somebody told you we rape babies, or murder women, or worse! Askmen had an argument about how it's ok to be men just not these men, or askwomen had a deleting contest to see how desolate one of their threads could become, and you saw our link seconds before it was deleted. Perhaps you saw us on askreddit where they were discussing just how misogynistic we were. Or maybe you were pm'd our link because somebody thought your story would be a better fit here.

You come from all walks of life, with your own problems and situations, your own relationships and wives, exwives and exgirlfriends, baby-mamas and mama-dramas, and anything else that rhymes. Welcome.

But you're new here, so shut up, read the sidebar, and consider how you participate here.

We expect most new people showing up to have some questions. The red pill is unique and diverse, with many different ideas. Some are well hatched and others are still in formation. The sidebar is a good place to start, but we discuss deeper issues every day.

Your first inclination is to ask us advice. Or maybe things don't quite make sense to you and you need clarification.

Don't do it.

Take some time to really absorb what we're saying here. Take a long time to digest what's in the side bar. Read more Rollo Tomassi if you run out of things to read. Read it twice. Read this

Watch our conversations. Understand what's being said.

The red pill is bitter and difficult to swallow, and it's not going to happen over night.

We have a lot of newcomers here, and they all have questions. The real answer is patience. Things will become more clear to you as you spend the time reading and trying to understand.

Give it some time. We have an automoderator bot that removes posts from new users, so if your stuff is getting removed, just wait it out. Try again later. Don't message the mods asking for approval, you have to wait like everybody else.

When you think you've started to understand and grasp these ideas, participate in the conversation, but don't make new threads telling us how we've changed your life. We get a hundred of these a day. Don't make a thread saying that "things make sense now omg omg." It's great that it's helping you.

Do participate in the conversation, if there's a relevant conversation that comes up, feel free to tell your story and how much better your life is. But no new posts about it. It's done.

Once you've spent enough time here really understanding what we're talking about, feel free to start making submissions if you have a unique insight into our ideas that you want to share.

If you still have personal questions or need clarification, check out our chatroom in the sidebar, or visit /r/asktrp.

Listen to the endorsed contributors, they know what they're talking about.

Thanks -RPS

Also, sidenote on concern trolling to our current members: We've obviously been seeing an influx of new users recently. No, the signal will not degrade. We will continue moderating with the iron banhammer we have always used. Please don't bother complaining that you're worried about the signal dropping, because this complaint in itself is the most annoying thing that is actually degrading our signal, and will be deleted on sight. Thank you.

Really liking the fact I don't have to sift through all the new user posts. Been here since 500 members so if you're new and wanna share, odds are that someone has had the same experience.

Major props to the mod team, their game has been tight and consistent. Hoping to be here for a long time to come

[–]updock42 points43 points  (14 children) | Copy

As a note for newer members - concern trolling is defined as pretending to be in agreement with sub, but also asking for a major change.

E.g. : "I agree with the major principles of the red pill, but can we please stop it with all the foul language?"

Please don't do this.

[–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Correct. Concern trolling is trolling and will get your post removed and may result in your account being banned. Just don't do it.

If you have suggestions, simply email them to the moderation team and we'll take them under advisement.

[–]still_very_alive0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Ah, so that's what it was. I always thought it was just threadcrapping about content quality. Would explain why I got accused of it a couple times before.

[–]ioncehadsexinapool0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

"I agree with the major principles of the red pill, but can we please stop it with all the foul language?"

Why is that bad? I get it, i won't do it. I'm just a little confused

[–]updock1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy

It is asking to impose a major change to the subreddit under the guise of agreement.

[–]ioncehadsexinapool-1 points0 points  (1 child) | Copy

so its like tricking people?

[–]updock0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I don't think it's intentionally tricking. I think people do it without thinking. But the effect is very deleterious for a controversial group of ideas.

[–]fox22432-4 points-3 points  (1 child) | Copy

Are you implying that "foul language" is one of the core principals of TRP sub? Maybe I misunderstood that example.

I thought that the point of concern trolling was suggesting any change that would actually benefit troll's side, but the change is masked as concern.

I think the problems with suggesting new ideas, even if you honestly believe they will improve the sub is that the current modding policy works very well, so most ideas will actually damage what mods are achieving here. That being said, /u/POOR_IMPULSE_CONTR0L have indeed raised some good points about closed mindedness which can potentially steer the sub into weird directions.

[–]updock1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

No, I'm suggesting that moderating language is an example of a significant change.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (5 children) | Copy

Isn't that basically what OP is doing right now? Only it's ok cuz he's a mod...?

I actually agree with most of what he wrote and I think it'll make the sub stronger..but at the very least we should create a sub that is dedicated to fielding ideas of how to improve Trp. We need some sort of feedback mechanism or eventually we will stagnate at some point.

[–]updock0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy

I can't tell if you're being intentionally ironic.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (3 children) | Copy

I started out that way and then realized it would actually be a good idea to have some channel for the community to submit and vote by up voting on potential changes. I also do tend to hate the mod system of reddit in general as I think it causes places to be more close minded and less able to fulfill their potential than we could achieve with a more democratic situation.

Also I'm worried about this sub departing from truth and becoming too extremist. Which is what tends to happen when you isolate a group from the outside world. While I don't want a watered down sub, and it is important to curb newbishness and hate from other subs; I also want Trp to keep to it's principles and meet it's potential and I'm just not sure we're approaching that in the right way.

[–]updock-2 points-1 points  (2 children) | Copy

You raise good points. I'm not sure if it's quite what you're talking about, but I'd love to see a sub dedicated to just testing the boundaries of TRP theory. Or positing new theory and successful or not, posting the results.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

Testing the boundaries of trp theory is perfectly valid content for theredpill. Post away.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I agree. As it is it seems the sub is pretty much completely dedicated to preaching the message it already has.

[–]Senior ContributorDemonspawn49 points50 points  (4 children) | Copy

Pretty much this, gentlemen. We're not here to hold your hand or lay out a path for you. We're here to tell you the truth. What you do with that truth is up to you. If you want to spin plates, spin them. If you want to unicorn hunt, have at it. If you want to give up on women and live your own life, fucking enjoy it. Your path is yours.

For the record, I've chosen each of them at different times in my life. That's important to note. Just because you're happy with one path now doesn't mean that another path might be your way later. That's fine. A man is allowed to change his mind if he figures out what he's doing now isn't working for him. Hell, that's why yer here in TRP in the first place: what you've been doing hasn't been working for you!

The truth is not negotiable. What you do with the truth is. Find your path, take it. Evaluate it. If it's not working, switch. If it is working, get better at it.

And get better at it. Constant fucking improvement, gentlemen. That's the path of a man.

Yeah I think the occurrence of unnecessary machismo is something OP should've also addressed because that can often be annoying in this sub. You're a dick slinging TRPer we get it. So are we. But then OP did sound like a drill Sargent himself so...

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children) | Copy

Unofficially I delete people trying to out-alpha eachother. It's just annoying.

[–]MSoftHarem71 points72 points  (6 children) | Copy

Pay attention, maggots, the sub has never been stronger and our rapid growth hasn't degraded the signal one bit. If anything we've added to our core message and embraced other communities that have RP mindsets. Read this, then read it again, then read the sidebar 3 times, and as soon as you want to make a thread - read it a fourth time. We've put a lot of time and effort into organizing the very best the manosphere has to offer, including copious amounts of OC (original content) from the mods and EC members alike. This isn't Straw Red Pill, this is THE Red Pill. The boogieman of Reddit, and one of the major hubs of the ever growing manosphere. Lock your game up because its only going to get bigger and better. 2013 was basically an experiment that none of us expected to grow this big, but we've learned what it takes to run a successful community, and what our direction is - 2014 will be a prime year in TRP's history.

Now drop and give me 20.

This subreddit's quality will flourish with the assistance and vigilance of its members. Users: if you see any pointless n00b posts, concern trolling, or other worthless drivel, be sure to report either the post or the comment.

It makes the mods' jobs a lot easier to have their ducks lined up for them, and it ensures that we have nothing but quality content on our front page.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 15 points16 points  (2 children) | Copy

Yes. Report button. Use it.

[–]thibit2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

Just to verify, would you prefer to have a message left or sent that explains as to why we reported it?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

Usually reports are just fine. Anything that gets multiple reports automatically comes our way. You can always send mods a link if you suspect it was missed.

This. That beautiful bastard knew what he was talking about. I agree that this would certainly be of use. He's also a great comedian and I know some of these new kids can't keep their eyes on a page to read the sidebar content, so I'm sure they'd appreciate relatable material that they can watch.

Also for the noobs: Get a different account for when you participate in the conversation here. There are a lot of people on reddit who apparently have nothing better to do than look at your post in /r/funny, look at your comment history, see you posted to /r/theredpill, then downvote everything and ban you from subreddits you've never been to.

You'll be a persona non-grata on most of reddit just for participating in this conversation positively. There are people all over reddit just seething that we are allowed to exist, and are unapologetic about it. If they could doxx the mods here like they did to the guy that violentacrez guy, they'd do it in a heartbeat. Seriously. The guy moderated some questionable content, and Adrien Chen (Guck that guy. Seriously, fuck you Adrien. Go die in a fire and I'll take a shot to celebrate your entrance to hell. There's a reason I have /etc/hosts entries blocking all gawker-related media) decided that the guy losing his job, the only source of income for he and his wife, for some shit he posted on the internet, is perfectly acceptable and the right thing to do. That's the kind of person who is trying to track us down because we dare talk the truth without hushed tones or guilty looks.

Get yourself an alternate if you want to participate. Don't ever link them together.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

I would, but I just have a hard time giving a shit about other redditors.

I mean, seriously, have you interacted with these people? Let them downvote me. Being shit on by worthless, inferior people just isn't the blow to my self-esteem that you seem to think it should be, and I have a very hard time caring about karma.

[–]Luckyluke235 points6 points  (1 child) | Copy

I noticed this dilution too and then glanced at the sidebar to see that the subscriber number has jumped 25,000 people since I last paid it any mind! I myself don't consider much I have to say worthy of posting. I don't know why people who've been here a few days let alone months do.

[–]jcrpta-3 points-2 points  (2 children) | Copy

"Lookie here at this mundane redpill example" (cool story, but some analysis would be nice if you insist on posting such things).

I have one of these, but I don't know if it's too mundane. Made a list of all the female Facebook friends I have, looked at when they got married, how quickly they got married after meeting their husband-to-be and how quickly they were popping out babies.

About 70% proved RP theory to a tee - of those that didn't, 85% were sufficiently good looking that they could reasonably spend a little longer on the carousel.

The mundane part is that pretty much everyone who's spent more than a few weeks on here would probably say "Yep. I could have told you that".

[–]jcrpta-2 points-1 points  (0 children) | Copy

If we want accurate results, we really need to prove how the analysis works rather than asking people to go on what they remember. I may have an idea about this...

I see this and other information that doesn't share new insight on the front page a lot. I basically just scan the TRP-endorsed posts now. Is there a way to search for only endorsed content?

Since this sub is about sexual strategy, I'm missing some major parts, for example "beta game". It seems like the whole focus is on the "alpha" strategy, which is well defined and understood by the members, but "beta" is used as a term to define blue piller. This is the biggest weakness of this sub as far as I can tell.

Alpha game might be successful in USA, but in Europe, "beta", or alpha-beta strategy is much more successful. The strategy is of alpha-like man but with emphasis on LTR instead of harem or many ONS. I see many americans half-jokingly saying they are going to find wives from Europe or Eastern Europe, but I can guarantee you that without understanding this alpha-beta strategy you won't succeed here. I am from Eastern Europe btw.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child) | Copy

I made a post about this not too long ago, but you're right. People are using beta incorrectly. Maybe you should make a new post discussing this.

For me, it's been really helpful to type things out to better understand a new concept. Now that TRP is more or less internalized, I have less need of this, but I imagine many other users do.

I suggest we create new weekly themed threads in addition to FR Mondays to let people ask questions, vent, and attempt to wrap their heads around the new ideas.

This may also work well for red pill / blue pill example threads.

[–]DanReggins1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I do like the posts that say how theredpill helped them and changed their lives if they have specific examples of their past mistakes, what actions and behaviors they put into practice, and how those actions and behaviors changed their lives for the better. These stories are important to show how the redpill mindset works in the real world. I do agree that the one liner posts gushing and thanking are pretty useless.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 10 points11 points  (2 children) | Copy

They're not banned in comments- just no new submissions with them.

If people want to make a mega-thread every so often that's fine by me.

[–]Katoska3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

With a growing amount of subscribers, it'd be a good idea to start recruiting more mods. Users that have proven themselves through their threads and comments. The more mods we have, the better the content.

By the way, I made this account a couple days ago, but I was on here on my old account. I've been here for a couple months.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child) | Copy

Thanks for the suggestion, we've got the moderator situation under control.

[–]TheRedPrivilege1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Thank you RPS, a much needed sticky for new posters to understand us. I have complete faith in the moderation team to keep the discussions on topic and civil, and as the subscriber count climbs we're all going to have to contribute lest this sub becomes infested with feel-good bullshit, white knights and feminist brigadiers.

  2. 33k+ people don't need to know just how more awesome your life is now.

  3. Questions? Read and listen, maybe comment. Head to /r/asktrp if problems persist for more than 72 hours.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Good work already mods. This sub is by no means perfect, but for a site experiencing rapid growth, I think the quality has stayed reasonably consistent. I don't know how many troll threads or BPers or whatnot try to post ridiculous shit for attention... and this means that the mods are doing a very good job.

For new people, I'd recommend sticking to comments. A lot of new people do have interesting things to say, but just not unique, fully formed ideas deserving a post. If you want to talk about how TRP helped you overcome the friendzone, there's probably 2-3 threads already going today where a comment about that might add value.

[–]Vodkas210 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I'm liking the automod, it makes sure people spend more time reading in the subrredit and the sidebar material. The "noob type" threads get old quickly and don't contribute much to the subreddit, this will definitely help with quality control.

[–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt-2 points-1 points  (0 children) | Copy

I will say this, if you're new and using a specific account on TRP and need to build up karma, post questions to /r/asktrp. That's what it's there for. That said, redpillschool's post still stands, you need to absorb this information first and foremost. The sidebar material, especially The Rational Male's Year One post and associated articles are a fantastic place to start.
