Source: Trust me

I trust this post to a large extent (though I also understand that no sources were provided with it) as I have seen job openings specifically for women (as in it was written in the advertisement itself that only women could apply- have seen this kind of thing 2-3 times in the last 6 months ) .Based on what I have read- the wage gap seems to be mainly caused by women temporarily leaving the workforce while they’re pregnant and after having children ( https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vox.com/platform/amp/2018/2/19/17018380/gender-wage-gap-childcare-penalty ) but for more than half a decade now, it has been implied by media, activists etc that it is primarily due to a bias against women. This has led them to try and combat a bias that never existed to the extent that they think it did. So, this explains the CS part of this person’s experiment. The second part was about customer facing jobs, in which I think women are preferred usually. I think someone should repeat what this person did and properly record their experiences etc.
Note- want to it clear that I am 100% for more spending on childcare by governments and companies, which is something that would actually close the wage gap.

The wage gap is not caused by this, it is caused by personal choices such as : Taking more day off Working lower wage jobs Working less overtime Asking for less promotions
It is normal that, if comparing the average wage of 2 groups, one will be higher.
From what I have read, women leaving the workforce for childbirth is the biggest reason for the wage gap. In a lot of US cities, there is even a reverse wage gap for people in their 20s (women earn more than men) but this disappears for people in their 30s (most likely due to child birth). Though I agree that the things you said are also among the causes. The important thing is that it isn’t caused by bias and people believe that it is , so now they are taking steps that are harmful for men trying to find a job
