I was on r/science and saw a comment on male suicide that said

"The problem is that any form of hospitalization related to self-harm is counted as a suicide attempt.

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/en/pub/82-003-x/2001002/article/6060-eng.pdf?st=8Am2OxsC

Hospitalizations related to suicide attempts were defined as the presence of ICD-9 codes E950 to E959 in the first accident code for a patient discharged alive. This ICD-9 category includes injuries resulting from attempted suicide, as well as self-inflicted injuries specified as intentional, but without suicidal intent.

Women self-harm without suicidal intent more than men, but to say they attempt more is just not accurate and unfortunately has become a common misinterpretation."

The issue I have is the top link being from 2002, 20 years ago, studying 1979-1998. So I was wondering if someone had a more recent link confirming or denying that NSSI still counts as a suicide attempt.
