Remember the part in the mateix when Neo asks why his eyes hurt and morpheus replies "because youve never used them". This is similar. You have "opened your eyes" so to speak to the truth and it hurts.

Slut = woman who will sleep with anyone, no standards, no sense of commitment

Most women are not sluts

However, must women are looking to date the best man they can find (who can blame that?) and will likely not strike gold with the First Man they date.

Your pain is a reflection of poor self image. You ask yourself: how can I be the best man for her if there are other men?

It’s a fear of competition. You are afraid to know the very real possibility of another man showing your woman that she can do better than you.
