Nothing special, she does this teasing shit with a shit tonne of guys if she's pretty, and guess what? They all fail.

Stop with the sideways flirty comments. Be direct and assertive. "Hey, give me your number so we can talk". Stop the indirect flirts. She knows what you're up to and it is a huge turn off when you beat around the bush to get something as trivial as a number.
The fact she has only just told you about her boyfriend tells you where she has put you. "fun guy who I can lap the attention out of in class". She is putting a boundary on your relationship with her and that you are going no further than school friends.
Stop putting effort into the girl. The moment she says something like she has a boyfriend, leave her the fuck alone. This tells her a lot about you:

My general rule is to completely ignore anything said about a boyfriend or husband. She knows you in real life, she gave you the number, assume she wants the D. Escalate until you get a hard no.

She included the "crazy and controlling" bit as a shit test in its purest form. Your response was good, and probably about as good as I would have done off the hip as well. Using hindsight goggles, I would have said something "sounds like a good man" or "stop trying to hook me up with him".

The bolded are stalling words. She's using language, poorly, to stall the conversation enough for her mind to format the fitness test into language while still maintaining her turn to speak.

Really hard to tell from this context whether she was joking or not. Don't bring up the boyfriend again, but ask her out in some other context.

If she brings up the boyfriend again, she may have been politely drawing a line. If she doesn't, then maybe that was just a joke that fell flat.
