The one making the money should be the one spending it, no exception. It's a really bad idea to give another person access to your finances.

Besides, stop acting as if it's so much effort. You can set up most stuff to pay automatically. How much time does it really take?

Online banking takes literally 5 minutes to do my bills every month.

if you don't have it set up, do it and it makes managing all your finances so much easier.

to make it one step easier, set up automatic withdrawal, but the caveat of that is that you MUST review your bills at the end of the month to make sure everything is in order.

I do all my own bill payment, and make sure all my money is accounted for, and that the correct amount is going into other accounts.

I'm going to go against the grain here, but only by a little bit, and it's from the perspective of maintaining LTR.

The issue isn't who actually executes the action of paying the bills.

The issue is who is in charge of making sure the bills get paid.

I don't see anything wrong with telling your woman "Go pay the electricity bill."

If you're playing LTR: The Home Game, then your woman needs to be treated like a First Officer, not a cabin boy. She'll need to have some kind of responsibilities given to her. Not only does delegating responsibility build trust with her, but it also keeps you in the leader position (you have to hold her accountable, though, and punish her when she fails).

The problem starts when you let her take full responsibility for the bills, without holding her accountable.

As Rollo says (paraphrasing) "do the bills, earn the money, make decisions, authorize husbands actions..."

That's where the control of the relationship falls into her hands. That's the thing you need to avoid. Like the plague.

As long as YOU are the one making the decisions and authorizing the actions, then you can let her execute tasks on your behalf.

Edit: though, seriously, everyone else is absolutely 100% correct that bills should not take that much time, and you can set up auto pay to keep shit flowing smooth. Don't waste the power of the internet.

Making the money, paying the bills and making all the decisions gives you authority.
