Was out with an associate of mine last night. This guy is a nerd who put himself on the beta bucks path; study hard, get a good job, make money, and buy a wife. Well, it didn't work out so good for him. Since he has no social skills, he got exploited and tossed aside. Now he's broke, jobless, and trying to shift to a different career. So, I imagine his confidence is even worse than it was before.

A girl sits down alone next to us at the bar. She's maybe a 6. I notice her, but have no interest. Suddenly, my associate says, "Now I'm going to make my move." I look over at the girl and she smiles at me. Then the guy turns to her as if to say something, but then gets intimidated and looks back at me. This goes on for like 5 minutes. At first I was amused, but then I was embarrassed for him, because the girl keeps looking at both of us with a smile on her face. He keeps looking back at her, but then away, then he looks at me. I take out my phone to give him some privacy. He does nothing. I go to the bathroom and come back. Nothing. We get ready to leave. The whole time she's watching us. In the back of my mind, I'm thinking: "Maybe YOU should break the ice for him. But wait, that will only emasculate him, he's going to have learn the hard way, and if you talk to her first, that will just make him look weak, and he won't get laid anyway." I explain all this to him as we walk outside the bar. I said, "All you had to do was say, 'Hi.'" He agrees, but he's 34 years old, and I fear he may NEVER learn to do this, since he doesn't already know to do it.
