Say to them "before we discuss who gets which room, let's work out how much rent each room pays" That way, everyone will be keen to agree a lower rent for the small room in case they get it. Once the rent is decided and every one is happy, then you solve the problem of who gets which room. You can do this by "names in a hat" since you now don't care if you get it or not.

Find out the square footage of each room. Add it all together then divide the total cost of rent by the total square footage. Now you have a price per square foot. Multiply the square footage of each room by the cost per square foot. The bigger rooms will pay more and it will be a logical number that is fair and reasonable. No negotiations needed.

If she doesn't have time to discuss it then just move in the bigger room and if she starts bitching tell her she should've thought about it when there was still time. Then you can negotiate rent and switching rooms from the postion of power since you already have the room you want and she's the one that needs something.

My advice is to not move in with her at all. Find another roommate, or another living situation entirely. Red flags are raised already, this is only the beginning. It will likely be difficult to get her to cooperate with other necessary things down the road.

Don't negotiate with her. Since you have some rapport with your friend, hash out the details to him and then let the 19 year old girl know what's up. If you're firm and let her know "Hey, the smaller room pays less money" then you probably won't have any problems. This is a good opportunity to practice some frame and appear like an authority figure.

You can hold an auction among yourselves and have everyone bid on the bigger rooms. Eventually someone will say, "No, I'm not willing to pay that much for a bigger room" and they'll be happy with the corresponding rent reduction for the smaller room.

Don't sign anything. Push the rent reduction. I did with my two roommates one of who was a girl. If you live in a smaller place, of course you should pay a smaller portion of the rent.

If you already signed, then you should have sorted this out before you signed. Why would you sign to live somewhere without sorting out the living situation?

This isn't really a red pill question. You're entering a business partnership with these people. You're making a business decision. If you go into a partnership without leverage, expect to get the least out of the deal. The deal is made when you sign on the line.

Having said that, you can always walk and find a better deal.

Rooming with a girl in general is a poor idea. I've roomed with men and its always been a blast. Its not even an issue bringing girls over for example and/or asking the guys to have the place to yourself.

The bathroom will be sparse but functional, no excessive junk everywhere, no clogged tubs, no tampons in overstuffed trashcan.

No drama if you want to watch sports, no complaints about how you sit, eat, walk, burp, fart, make crass jokes, etc.

Unless your buddy is fucking this girl, my suggestion is to drop her and get a male roommate.

If for some reason you end up with her as a roommate, for god's sake don't fuck her and tell your buddy not to. Men are stupid and will fuck a female roommate sometimes but its exactly like having sex with a co-worker. It suddenly destroys your independence. It creates a conflict of interest between you and other roommates. It WILL destroy or weaken your relationship with him.

I have no idea wtf this question is and why it's on RP, but....the answer is simple. Hold your position and take the room you want, or outright refuse to take the small one without a rent reduction. Some points:

1) The idea that a girl gets a bigger room for being a girl is retarded, and if she says this, you should literally ask what difference does it make that she's a girl? Be prepared for an answer referencing closet or bathroom space.

2) you are 3 roommates. The rent reduction should be discussed with your very good friend -- the girl is moving in with you and your good friend, by default she's the replacable one in the roommate sitations.

3) Just call her and talk about it. You should be grown up enough to handle that on your own man. The fact that she's a girl in this scenario has literally nothing to do with anything. By posting this on RP I'm suspecting your giving way too much weight to her being a girl and that really is not the underlying issue. The issue is that she's flaky and shitty and those exist in all genders of roommates.

If the girl is giving you a hard time when you try to contact her to negotiate, then default her to the shitty room and decide between you and your friend who gets which of the two nice rooms. Seriously - I already see what she's doing. She's going to delay and stall and misdirect until it's time to move in, and then she's going to plop her shit in the nicest room and if you say something she'll respond with "Well, you guys never contacted me to negotiate bla bla bla".

If she does somehow manage to squeeze herself in the biggest, nicest room, then guess what? You decide the rent based on what size room each person has.
