I'm in the middle of a nasty divorce right now, currently granted temporary joint legal and physical custody over my child with no child support (similar incomes). My ex-wife has cheated on me multiple times now, so I finally filed for divorce and hired a good lawyer. We have a 7.5 month old daughter who she had been trying to leverage me with in order to get me to take her back. Now that she can no longer do that, she has on more than one occasion threatened me with the police. When picking up our daughter from my apartment she will begin rifling through my things and saying that she can take whatever she wants, because she is my wife and half of my things are hers.

I've already given her all that I need to, according to my lawyer, and do not need to let her take any more from my apartment or bank account. After telling her this, she begins to freak out and say that she'll call the cops and they'll either force me to give her "her things" or they'll take me to jail. She hasn't been on the lease for over 3 months now, and almost none of the things in my apartment belonged to her before the marriage. She has also on one occasion physically taken my daughter out of my hands and drove off with her. This is the only instance I shouted at her, and she again threatened me with the cops saying they would have me in cuffs and in jail. This was the event which led to me lawyering up and getting legal protection over my time with my daughter.

Does anyone know any police officers, lawyers, or is anyone well-versed enough with Michigan law to know exactly how I should handle these situations? I've mentally prepared myself to stay completely calm if ever confronted with the police, and to very simply explain the actual situation in hopes that they may believe me over her manipulation. I'm not sure that this will work though, as I'm a decently large man (6'1 180lb) and she is a thin, beautiful, young, blonde hair/blue eye'd woman. I have considered going to the local police station and actually asking an officer, but I don't know if that would be wise or not?
