I've said this for years, many men can't understand how women can complain about "the dating scene", after all even the hogliest of women gets constant validation from thirsty men.

But if you're not attractive to her you may as well be nonexistent. It is for that same reason women will complain there are no "good men" left, because all of the accountants and IT guys at her job are, quite simply, invisible to her sexually.

Interesting point, and I can imagine the evolutionary benefits of one gender (women) focused on quality, and the other (men) with quantity. Two picky genders would never find the match to procreate. This also lends some insight into the double standard that society allows men to pursue multiple partners, but frowns on it with women. The man is acting on his evolutionary imperative, the woman is just a poor judge of quality. And since the woman inevitably carries the repercussions of sexual encounters for nine months, it's in her best interest to be the one to filter for the quality mate. The sexual revolution and contraceptives removed that one last responsibility from the female. It didn't eliminate biological adaptive responses.

I like to call the attraction threshold the chump filter.

This is a phenomenon that anyone who has significantly improved their appearance can attest to. Traversing that threshold is a motherfucker when it happens. You suddenly realize that your actual personality and character matters less than what chicks imagine your personality and character to be.

When you're caught in the chump filter, you're creepy and weird.

When you've passed the chump filter, you're mysterious and unique.

It's called the apex fallacy, and it's a striking fault of women, not of men. Also the cause of women's jealousy of men and creation of "the patriarchy" as an idea.

It's good to understand, but ultimately it's yet another problem modern "empowered" women fail to resolve to make themselves better.

I lift to become stronger, and face my demons to get better (mostly), women don't seem to do the same.

Short answer: It's the bed women make for themselves, I see no reason to forgive them for it.

With all due respect, I don't think this is very exclusive to women. Walking and looking around on the streets I wouldn't get paid to fuck half of the women my age. I'm sure one's standards rise and fall according to one's own SMV, maybe not equally so for men as for women, but definitely significantly so.

Guys have a threshold too though. There are plenty of women I would never dream of sleeping with. It goes both ways. Nobody wants to have sex with someone that is not attractive to them.
